  • We spent a delightful month at the Bear Necessity! The house was very attractive and easy to maintain. The kitchen had all the tools. Highlands is a charming community with many fine restaurants, theatre and shopping. Nice neighbors on the street.

  • We just spent the month of August at “The Bear Necessity” and enjoyed every minute. Cathy Adams has thought of everything. From the moment we walked in to the last day – everything was as it should be. During our visit we had several relatives visit and it was certainly nice to put them down stairs with their own kitchen – living room – TV and best of all, their own bath, and it is all done very tastefully. Highlands is a great place shop, hike, sit on the porch, or just do nothing. The restaurants are great, but better make reservations. Golf is available if you are a goat (not that bad), and great motorcycle riding. Hope we get to come back again next year.

  • Unfortunately, our week at "The Bear" has come to an end. This was our first VRBO rental and it was perfect! The cabin looks just as it does in the photos (wonderful) only it was so much better to enjoy it in person. When not hiking or in town, we spent most of our time on the fabulous porch eating, drinking, reading and just enjoying the COOL summer mountain air. I don't know who enjoyed it the most -- us or our two golden retrievers. The Adams are also wonderful hosts and provided great tips for fully enjoying the beautiful Highlands area. We will definitely be back to The Bear. Just wish it could be every weekend!

  • We stayed over the Memorial Day Weekend. The cabin is a lovely mountain getaway with all the amenities imaginable. Cathy and Richard have created a wonderful environment of relaxation and sanctuary. Enjoy!

  • We have stayed at the Bear numerous times and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It's a comfortable cottage type home with a great porch for relaxation. Close to town with great privicy. No disappointments here.
