We had a great stay at this property and I would highly recommend it. The grounds were meticulously maintained, there was a huge and great variety of equipment to borrow, and the owner was very welcoming and helpful. I only have a couple of suggestions: 1. Some sort of booklet that gives an overview of how to operate and find certain things (WiFi, use the DVD player, trash pick up days, etc.). Maybe such a thing existed, but I could not find it. 2. DVD player in our unit was very hard to operate and I suggest an upgrade 3. I recommend keeping a basic array of spices in the unit (salt, pepper, etc.) as buying those for a short visit is a bit of waste. We were happy to leave the ones that we had bought, but I suggest that be just a staple in the unit. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We arrived as a group of 3 couples for a one week stay in Maui. Mike, the owner, met us upon our arrival despite the late hour (11:30pm) and gave us a quick tour of the premises before we settled in. The house was clean, the furniture comfortable and the open kitchen to the living room was great for group cooking and socializing. The property is immaculate and the grounds are beautiful. The big backyard was a huge plus where we could enjoy our morning coffee, yoga practice and bocce ball games. I was a little concerned at first with the idea of sharing the property with two other rental units (another 3 bdrm and 1 bdrm house), but there was plenty of privacy and we got along great with our neighbours so it was no big deal. The best thing about this house is its location. At the north end of S. Kihei Rd., this property is well away from the traffic and noise of town but not so far that you can't walk to the farmer's market or drive a couple of minutes to amenities. We really liked that it was at the quiet end, that the beach is right across the street and that it's a residential neighborhood of mostly houses so no condos or resorts. The grounds/cleaning staff were all very friendly and I enjoyed a mid-week visit with Mike where he told us all the great places to see in Maui which was very helpful. The one suggestion I have for guests is to be prepared to bring or buy your own cooking/cleaning supplies if you intend to make use of the kitchen. We bought basics like salt and pepper, sugar, cooking oil and dishsoap etc. Not a big deal since you'll be heading to Costco/Foodland anyway but don't expect to find it stocked at the house. Overall, I'd rate our stay a very positive experience. If this property is still available for rent when I come back next year, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.Did you find this review helpful? This house sits in the backyard of an enclosure containing the main house and one other. It is directly across the street from the beach and a couple of blocks from a beach park. The side and huge backyard are groomed beautifully. The house was immaculate and cool when we arrived. It was out of the touristy area and therefore quiet. It was close to the main thoughfare so getting from place to place was easy. The neighbors were friendly! We were a group of three related couples who had come for a wedding. We had relatives stopping in for visits. Entertaining them was very relaxing. It was like being at home. The mango tree from next door kept dropping fruit at its peak of ripeness. Wonderful!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a fabulous 2 weeks in Maui in large part due to this fantastic accommodation! The property was easy to find and in a very convenient location for exploring the island. The houses were both very clean with everything we needed. The grounds are amazing---incredible lush garden. Our kids spent hours playing football and volleyball on the perfect lawn. Thanks Mike and Cecelia!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Maui is beautiful, and staying at Mike and Cecelia's home made it even better! This is a much better alternative to condos or resorts. The yard area is beautifully kept, gardeners come weekly. Inside, the house is immaculate and modern. We enjoyed the sitting areas in the front and back yards both in the morning and evening. Every morning we walked across the street for a stroll down the beach. From the beach we saw whales, and beautiful sunsets in the evening. The laundry room was very helpful to wash off the sand after our beach walks or coming back from a day at one of Maui's other beautiful beaches. Thanks Mike and Cecelia for a great place to spend our vacation. We would definitely come back! Dan and Lynn Hansen Castle Rock, ColoradoDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Just got back from a one week stay at this fantastic vacation rental and can not say enough good things about our visit. The house itself is well located in North Kihei, just a bit outside of the crazy traffic area of South Kihei. Great beach directly across the street that is perfect for sunset viewing and utilizing the boogie boards and other beach gear that is supplied as part of the home rental. The grounds of the house are so pristine you would think they landscape them with a pair of tweezers! The house itself is possibly the cleanest vacation rental we have had the opportunity to stay in. Well appointed with large cable TVs and wireless internet we lacked for nothing. Plenty of hot water for the multiple showers the entire family took coming in from the beach all day long. They also have a nice laundry room setup for the various lodging guests staying at the property. Yes, there are more than one lodging units on the property, but privacy is not an issue as the grounds are laid out well, and parking is ample and steps away from each unit. Comfortable beds, good linen, a ton of quality towels and a well appointed kitchen, we had all we needed to enjoy our stay to the fullest. Not to mention that our host Mike gave us some good advice on the local perspective for shopping and dining as well as fishing. Ask him how to save a bunch of money by getting a good discount at the local food store! He was also very accommodating in granting any special requests we had arise. Why anyone would want to rent a tiny square box condo when you can have a home like this during their stay in Maui is a mystery to me, we will certainly be staying here again on our next trip!Did you find this review helpful? Mike and Cecelia's unit was very conveniently located for us, enabling us to enjoy beach walks and stand up paddles directly across the road, or short drives to snorkeling and windsurfing. The bedroom was very spacious, with two lounge chairs and a TV, which compensated for the small dining/sitting area. Everything was spotlessly clean. There were several areas outside where we could sit in the manicured gardens. Mike and Cecelia went out of their way to ensure that we had everything that we needed.Did you find this review helpful? very nice little cottage. The yard was beautiful and spacious and the house was exceptionally clean. Nice to have the router for internet as well. Would definitely stay here again! Also nice to be at the north end of Kihei where it's quieter but still close to restaurants, shopping, etc. The beach across the road was small but very nice - and very few people.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had a wonderful time in Maui thanks to the beautiful (and inexpensive) house of Mike & Cecelia. Cecelia was SO nice and she keeps the grounds pristine. The gardens were beautiful! The house was VERY clean when we got there. There are a few geckos outside and sometimes we found them near the door in the mornings, but they shoo away very easily. There were no bugs in the house (or outside that we saw) which was my and my mom's fear. The house has three good-sized bedrooms which were comfortable and there are air conditioners throughout the house, but we didn't use ours much as the breeze from the open windows feels nice. The living room has some comfy couches and I personally loved the dining room chairs as they have pineapples on them! The kitchen is well-stocked and was one of the best things about the house as we could eat breakfast, lunch or dinner there and save money. There was also a gas barbecue which was easy to use and make some nice burgers. A whole shed full of snorkel gear, chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards was available for our use too which was nice as many places 'rent' that stuff out to tourists. The house was very close to the town of Kehei and all the grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. The town is also nice because it is less touristy than other parts of the island. It was nice to have the beach right across the street which was easy access; we went there frequently even if just for a few minutes after a long day. The sun sets on the that side of the island, so you can see some beautiful scenes at night. I highly recommend this house as it is very clean, the owners are nice and the grounds are beautiful.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

If we come to Maui again we will definately try to book with Mike and Cecelia again! Very nice to be across the street from a beach, and a block away from an ABC Store. This is a great place every which way you look at it! Great location, beautiful beach, very nice/comfortable accommodations, terrific value! The landscaping should be in Sunset Magazine -- absolutely gorgeous and loved having the backyard for evening Bocce Ball tourneys! Cecilia was so gracious and accommodating; she has put her heart and soul into creating and maintaining this property and it shows. We'd love to come back with friends and rent the whole compound -- what an awesome setup that would be and soooo much better than multiple condos or a resort (not to mention less $$$!). It was also great to have beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear, ice chests, etc. for our daily excursions -- they thought of everything!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had the pleasure to stay at that beautiful house in Kihei. Perfect location to explore Maui as well if you like to Wind- or Kitesurf. The house is just 50m away from the beach... The proprty has a very nice garden. Despite the fact that the house is close to the street it's very quiet. The house looks nicer in reality than on the pictures. Would stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The property is beautiful tons of plants and beauty. The beach across the street is excellent for sitting or swimming. The town is just down the road, store within walking distance. My whole family felt very comfortable and would return without hestitation. Michael and Cecilia are amazing and available for information or just to talk with. It was 4 of my friends and we were here for the 4th of July week the house was amazing the only thing we had to buy was food. Everything was provided in the house and outside the house including snorkels and boogie boards. It was a very quiet area but we had fun to the max and we are all in our early 20's. There is so much more to say but all I can say is get this place if you want something different than a hotel or condo. Thanks again Mike :-)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed here and in one of the other houses for a week with family and friends who came to Maui for our wedding. The houses were great, even better than expected. The location is excellent: a short drive from the airport and close to the amenities and beaches of Kihei, but also centrally located on the island so as to make for an ideal starting point for day trips to the east and west coasts. Also nice was that towels (you go through alot of these in a Maui trip), a washer and dryer, and beach things (snorkels, boogie boards, etc) were provided. The description is accurate. The property is very well-maintained. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. It's a great value, and I would fully recommend this place to anyone visiting Maui.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented all three houses that were on this property for a family vacation/wedding. We were all elated from the moment we arrived! The houses and location exceeded our expectations. Everybody in our group of would return to this property. It was in a perfect location - just steps across a quiet road to a beautiful swimming and snorkelling beach. We had the beach to ourselves because the hotels/condos in the area are further south of the houses. The beach was perfect for early morning walks or jogs and wonderful for morning swims. The grounds of the property are meticulously maintained by Mike and Cecelia, who were very pleasant to visit with. The pictures don't show how beautiful this property really is and if you find yourselves fortunate enough to stay here, you will enjoy having all your meals outside on the beautiful and spacious grounds. If you rent one of the houses you will still have a lot of privacy. Our group of 18 was made up of young adult children, parents and grandparents and there was plenty of room to accomodate all us. The property is a short drive to many restaurants, shopping, and close to lots of Maui's sights. We've already referred this property to friends who are interested in large family vacations!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family (children, parents and grand-parents) stayed in one of the three houses of this perfect mini-resort for a week. The location is ideal as we explored the island West, North and East. The beach is accessible by crossing the 35 mph road in front of the property complex. The house was immaculate and the garden well groomed and gorgeous. We had access to beach-ware and snorkeling equipment. Our hosts (Mike and Cecelia) were extremely helpful in terms of advice and access to great deals for events. As seasoned vacation professionals, they were attentive to our needs and very accommodating. The price to value is probably the best on the island. We highly recommend this property if you look for a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation with your family. If we come back to Maui we will choose this vacation home to visit Mike and Cecelia. Warms thanks to both of you.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a wonderful holiday on Maui, and this property was a major contributor to that. The unit lies on park-like grounds with two other units from the same owners. The house was perfectly suited for the needs of our family of 5, The two full baths let us split between parents and kids (always a plus), and the kitchen was equipped with all the gadgets one might wish for at home. We were never lacking for anything. The only minor delta was that one of the rooms didn't have ac, but that was easily compensated for by leaving the door open as well as the fact that all room had a ceiling fan. Shared washer and dryer were also available in a separate outbuilding. Both gas and coal-fired grills were available as well. The backyard of the house was great to lie around on for those parts of the day when we didn't want to be on the beach. The beach across the street was almost always empty, and was great for morning or evening swims or for long walks. The location of the property in Kihei is optimal for first timers on Maui. It lies fairly quiet, but you can reach all the other towns and beaches within a 30-40 minute drive (max), whether Ka'anapali or Makena. A rental car is a definite must. Mike and Cecilia were gracious and helpful hosts, always ready with tips and and offers to do whatever is needed to make our stay a pleasant and memorable one. And it was! Recommend this property and the owners without any hesitation or reservation.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Directly across the street from Sugar Beach this comfortable home was a great fit for my family. There were five of us and it was never tight. The house was also great for my toddler and surprisingly well baby proofed. The house was well stocked and Kihei was a really good location for all destinations, while being quieter than Lahaina and less expensive than Kannapali. The house is on a property with two other homes that are rental units but it still maintains its privacy and it was very quiet. Cecila and Mike are lovely and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

In April 2009 I visited this property with members of my family and we all enjoyed the welcome given to us by the owners of the property. The property was ideal with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms the fact that the beach towels were included meant that we did not need to pack extra weight in our suitcases. The property was as stated near the sea - walk out of the driveway cross a fairly quiet road and you were on the beach. We were known to wander across with a cup of tea to sit on the beach and let the time pass by. The first two days we were there we were disappointed with the weather (no one can blame the fact that it would rain /be cloudy on our visit) but afterwards the sun came out and it was too hot to stay on the beach for too long. A hire car would be a must if I were to return to the cottage but if you did not wish to drive the airport was possibly 15 to 20 minutes in a taxi. A local shop was available for grocery shopping within a few minutes walk but other larger grocery shopping and restaurants and shopping outlets possibly 5-10 minutes drive away. Must thank Mike and Cecelia for the warm welcolme they gave us, they were always available if we had any problems or needed advice on where to go. ps. if you have time a visit to Honolulu and Pearl Harbour is a must. If you inquire at the airport we arranged a flight to honolulu for $76 on a day return journey if you went on an early morning flight and returned early evening. Some airlines wanted $138 per journey.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just arrived home from our week long vacation in Maui, and staying at this cottage was just perfect. The pictures are very accurate, with a very well maintained yard and clean accomodations. You have all the amenities one would need including beach gear, grills, and a washer/dryer to use while there. The location is just across the street from the beach and provides a nice quiet place to relax if you don't feel like driving to another beach. I think staying in Kihei is a smart move b/c you are only 20 minutes from either Lahaina or Wailea(not even) which is convenient to make sure you try different things while visiting. We had originally wanted the owners Luxury villa which was booked, so we did get to look around that and the main difference is the 2 FULL bathrooms in the cottage which is nice if you have 6 people staying there. I will definitely consider staying here again if I should be lucky enough to return to Maui in the next few years, the owners were fantastic!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.
