Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: view home in hood river, 8 blocks from the center of town
Perfect Hood River vacation home. It has it all: terrific views including of the Columbia River and Mt. Adams, just 8 blocks from the center of historic Hood River. Beautifully decorated. The house was designed and built as a vacation home. The great room (living room, dining room, kitchen) is wide open to accommodate entertaining and a relaxed lifestyle. It is on the second floor to maximize the views through expansive windows. Sliding glass, double doors open to the deck creating an indoor/outdoor living room for those balmy nights.
The three bedrooms are on the first floor off of a comfortable entry. The master has a private bath and the other two bedrooms share a second bath. The upstairs (great room) has a half bath. An oak stairway spirals to a loft space above the living room. There are decks of varying sizes off of all 3 stories.
If you have not visited Hood River before you will love the historic downtown. It is quaint and charming but has so much to offer. The variety of restaurants, brew pubs, coffee shops, and places to shop are outstanding. After a day of outdoor activities relax, take in the view and a barbeque at home or stroll into town for a movie, to shop or to enjoy one of the restaurants.
Known as the Mac House this has been a favorite Hood River vacation rental since we built it about 12 years ago. 2008 is the first year that we are handling the rentals ourselves through VRBO.

Why the Owner Chose Hood River
Hood River is only an hour east of Portland but we were spending so much time in the area windsurfing, bike riding, hiking, climbing... that we decided to build a second home there. When you spend all day on the river or in the mountains it is nice to have a home within walking distance of your dinner plans! We have 3 children who love the area and everything it has to offer as much as their parents!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Designed as a vacation home with great views and close to town.

We had a great family vacation in Hood River. The house worked great- we enjoyed walking into town, grilling on the deck, and taking in the view. We had 7 people staying in the house (including 3 kids), and 8 other members of our family were staying down the street. When all 15 of us got together for dinners and hanging out, the house absorbed the large group really well. We had a great time!

Wonderful property. Close to downtown (restaurants and ice cream) beautiful view of the river and great for windsurfers to see if it is "capping". We will come back!

My husband and I rented this house to visit our kids. Our son works at a local ski resort and our daughter lives in Portland. The house was great and the view was fantastic. We had a wonderful time in the home and in Hood River. We walked downtown everyday and enjoyed great pubs, wineries, food, and lots of great music. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook, relax and entertain. All the locals were helpful and friendly. Stores are just around the corner. I recommend this house for just about anyone. We loved it and would like to visit again! The Owner was quick to respond and easy to work with!

What a perfect house for any reason! The property was clean, upgraded bedding, kitchen and bathrooms well stocked. This house was our holiday home this past year and accommodated all seven of us, ages ranging from 3 to 60 super! The open floor plan allowed us to view this beautiful area along with being able to walk downtown was perfect. This is one you will want to ear mark for a long time.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review1

I've stayed in lots of vacation rentals and this one was by far the most cozy (not in a small, cramped way), the most vibrant, and the most full of personality. It really felt like a home! It was roomy, even for our large party of 8 (4 couples) and a baby. And the kitchen (which we utilized heavily) was well stocked enough to cook Thanksgiving in, literally. We were even lucky enough to see the fabulous view of Mt. Adams from the living room on the last day of our stay once the clouds cleared. I'd recommend this home to anyone wanting a great place to stay within walking distance of Hood River.

This place worked great for our girls' weekend. We had planned to hike and be outdoors but the weather was dreadful and raining the whole time so we mostly hung out at the house cooking great meals and walking to town to shop and go wine tasting. The open floor plan made it easy to socialize and we even got a few peeks at Mt. Adams in between storms. The house was clean and very well stocked. I'd love to go back in the summer and get on the water.
Owner response:Thanks for the review! Sorry to hear about the weather; we'll have to work on that next time... Best, Dan

We've rented this home numerous times over the course of the years. The home has a spectacular view of the Columbia River and Mt Adams. It is in an ideal location in Hood River, close enough to walk to restaurants, while remaining in a quiet setting. We've rented this home for a weekend getaway, as well as a week long active vacation, prior to moving to Oregon. I've rented several places in Hood River over the years and this location stands head and shoulders over the rest.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review and look forward to seeing you back!

This house was the perfect getaway for a group of old college girlfriends getting together for a weekend away. Walking distance from downtown Hood River and all the fun it has to offer. Great open floor plan with a really functional kitchen. Comfortable beds! And the view is top notch! The owners were a pleasure to work with and just made it all so easy! We will be back for our next weekend reunion in 2011! Thank you so much!!!!
