Why the Owner Chose Red Wing

Both my wife and I grew up in south eastern Minnesota and where very familiar with the area. When the time was right to purchase a vacation property we only looked in one area. The cottage is located in the Historic District of Old Frontenac. Nestled amongst the river bluffs you can’t help but relax as you enter this historic village that remains as cozy and quaint today as it was 150 years ago. Walk or bike through this beautiful setting and you will enjoy scenic views of Lake Pepin, historic homes and park like yards.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

This area is popular because it offers visitors a wide variety of activities in every season. Lake Pepin is a five minute walk from the cottage and features some of the best sailing in Minnesota. There are 127 holes of golf within a 15 minute drive and the Cannon Valley bike trail, one of the most popular in Minnesota is just 10 minutes away. You can hike directly into Frontenac State Park from the cottage and enjoy the beautiful views from the bluffs overlooking the lake. In the winter the State Park offers groomed cross country ski trails and for those downhill skiing enthusiasts Welch Village Ski area is only 20 minutes away.

A
Beach

The village offers a public beach and boat ramp.

B
The Jewel Golf Club

A relaxing step back in time!!!!!

My mother, daughter and I vacationed in Old Frontenac. This home was immaculate! It was the perfect setting for 3 generations to play. I would highly recommend this adorable property in quite the unique location. History Buffs- this is your place to stay! We picked up groceries on our way through Red Wing and hit Lake City one day for sightseeing and lunch. Our favorite part was walking around the Old Frontenac historic village. It was spectacular and the owners were wonderful.

We (eight girls) had the best weekend ever at Chuck's cottage! We didn't need to worry about bringing anything besides food and drinks. The cottage is more beautiful than what the pictures show and we will definitely be coming back again!

Owner response:Ladies, we appreciate the kind words and are glad you enjoyed yourselves. We are happy to share our little corner of the world and do hope you stay with us again.

Early Christmas Gathering

Guest: Dave Berg (-)
Date of Stay: 11/18/09 Review Submitted: 12/30/09

This well-stocked cottage is a real gem! Our family of 6 adults decided to gather here for a weekend-long Christmas celebration. We found the clean, comfortable space perfect for relaxing, reading, preparing all our meals, sitting by the fire, playing games, etc. Chuck was easy to work with and quick to answer questions and make recommendations leading up to our stay. As for area attractions, we'd highly recommend a trip to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha...

We had a wonderful time! We have stayed in a few different rental properties in the Lake Pepin area and really enjoyed having a cottage to enjoy. The village of Old Frontenac is very quiet and beautiful to explore. We would not hesitate to rent this cottage again when we visit the area. Thanks so much for allowing us to enjoy it!

Winter Wonderland

Guest: Glad we stayed (United States)

Your beautiful cottage was a dream for our two families to be in over New Years weekend -- thank you so very much. I must say, your photographs do not do your home justice................it was above and beyond my expectations -- . Every little artistic and practical touch was in place for us to enjoy fully......a well stocked place to call home. I'd love to rent it again during other seasons! And, the proximity to the State Park was fabulous for us to go snowshoeing in, sledding.........as well as the sledding hill just adjacent to the cottage. We enjoyed ice skating a few miles down the road too and skiing at Welch, so a real laid back, fun winter vacation laced with lots of cooking and movie fests. Many thanks,
