Owner's Map of Castle Rock Lake
Whether it’s a romantic getaway for two or you happen to have the entire family along, there is always plenty to do at this luxurious townhome on Castle Rock Lake in southwestern Wisconsin.
Having worked in residential and commercial construction most of his life, owner Fred Bachmann has a keen eye for property—which made him jump at the chance to purchase the first of only seven townhomes being built along the lake.
“I’ve always felt Castle Rock Lake is an undiscovered treasure,” says Bachmann. “My wife Kiya and I live in Madison, a city surrounded by beautiful lakes, but we prefer to travel 75 miles north to Castle Rock Lake. It’s beautiful and serene here, the water is clean, there are endless snowmobile and ATV trails, and it’s an absolute paradise for boating.” Buckhorn State Park is also nestled along its shores, where bald eagles and ospreys circle lazily in the summer sky.
Fred’s townhome is one of largest and most upscale homes available for rent on the beachfront, with a breathtaking view of Wisconsin’s fourth-largest lake. Obviously built with the loving touch of a skilled contractor and craftsman, the 2,500-square foot residence is only 25 minutes from Wisconsin Dells and about one hour north of Madison.
Outdoor activities abound for all seasons, from swimming and boating and horseback riding to snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The elegant and comfortable interior, however, makes it tempting to just stay inside. The floor plan is open and spacious, with soaring 10-foot ceilings, large living spaces, hardwood floors, and plush leather furniture. A sound system is located in every room. Make breakfast in an inviting kitchen overlooking the lake, complete with stone countertops, hickory cabinets, and modern appliances.

The Castle Rock area is one of our favorite places to vacation. The Townhome is a perfect vacation spot. The townhome is immaculate, lots of space and right on the beach. Just my wife and I stayed there and it was a nice romatic getaway. The townhome is right next to a nice bar and restaurant that has very good food. The outdoor pool and hot tub are nice too. The owners are extremely hospitable and service oriented, they wanted to make sure we had a perfect time, which we did! We'll definitely be back!

We set out from chicago, feel memorable about this trip. Most of us are first time come to America. All of us are the first time have these experience---Stay tranquil and contented symbiosis with the nature. When seating in front the lake, it's really feel comfortable and calm. In china, It is very difficult to find a place without that much people, we always play cards, drink beers, go to singing or go to club in our spare time, This travel provide us a totally different experience.

The Spacious Lakefront Town home was amazing. The kitchen had every utincel we needed for cooking breakfast lunch and dinners. The living room was spacious and comfortable enough for all 8 of us to sit together and watch movies and play games. The back porch area was my favorite, the amazing lake view for my morning coffee was so peaceful. The kids had a blast at the pool and the beach which were both walking distance no more than five minutes. My husband said he slept better than he did in a long time. The beds were so comfortable. Overall I thought the place was very clean and met all our expectations. We will be back next year!!!

My husband and I stayed at the condo with our 5 grown children. I have to say the condo itself is very nice but it definitely needs a good cleaning! I wiped up a spot on the kitchen floor and the paper towel was black from the floor so we decided to wipe up the entire floor and it was nasty! Some of the bed linens were stained and I'm pretty sure the blankets haven't been washed in awhile. There wasn't enough towels for everyone, make sure you bring your own and there was only 1 wash cloth and 1 dish towel to do dishes with so it that was inconvenient when trying to do dishes after we ate. The condo sleeps 7 adults (the 7th person has to sleep on a foam mattress on the floor in the master bedroom) so if you have an 8th person they would have to sleep on the couch downstairs. The pool and hot tub are very nice but about a 3-4 minute walk from the condo and the beach is small and not close, it is completely on the other side of the property, about a 5 minute walk. Probably would not recommend this place to my friends.
Owner response:Thank you for your constructive suggestions. It is my responsibility to make sure the town home is thouroughly cleaned after every use and supplied with enough wash clothes and dish towels. I also try to accommdate guests when they want to arrive early and my cleaning crew has told me that offer makes their job very challenging. This is the first summer the town home has had back to back rentals with no vacant days to catch up on the details. I'm not making excuses, we are learning and taking it very seriously!!!

I stayed at the Spacious Lakefront Townhome with some of my girls for a girls weekend and I have never been so disrespected in my life! The town home itself was beautiful, but there were many things in the home that were missing like toilet paper, a porch light, napkins/paper towels etc! Also, make sure you confirm if the pool and hot tub are in working condition! When I went, it was assumed that we were going to be able to use the community pool and hot tub (due to all the misinformation on their website and the owner saying nothing), but both of them were ice cold and extremely dirty when we arrived! Instead of giving us the code to the pool area, the owner told us to "jump the fence". The owner was extremely uncooperative and uncaring about our dissatisfaction and even told us to leave numerous times if we were not satisfied, rather than trying to appease us and fix his mistakes! He did not care that we drove 4 hours to get to the resort and had nowhere else to go. It felt as if we had to cooperate with him, rather than the other way around. He was beyond rude and if that was not enough, he solicited us by giving out our personal information to the South Shore Restaurant owner. We did not feel safe nor comfortable during our trip. Due to the discourteous owner and our many disappointments, we will not be coming back.
Owner response:These college girls expected the outdoor swimming pool facility to be open and ready the first weekend of May... That simply is not practicle in central Wisconsin. As a good gesture, I allowed them access to the private Stay Spa with an indoor hot tub, steam suite and cold plunge. And, they were also given a deduction in the balance due. Yet, I still receive this unjustified poor review. I should have trusted my initial insticts, refunded their deposit and asked them to leave.

Great Place but Suitable for Six

Overall, this place was terrific. The kitchen is great, and the living area, generally, was very nice. The bathrooms were very well furnished, and truly was ideal for our group, weekend getaway. My only criticism was that it was listed for suitable for 8 people. However, there are three bedrooms upstairs, each with either a king or queen bed, and then there is a couch downstairs. So, long story short, our last couple had to sleep with the husband on the couch, and the wife on a twin memory foam mattress that we found in a closet upstairs. This wasn't particularly uncomfortable, but I did have to endure whining from a couple of people (namely, the couple who drew the short straw for the first night) in my group for this omission. To be fair, there was a full-size blow-up mattress that we found, as well, but opted for the couch/twin mattress for the last couple. All in all, though, I would definitely stay here again, though preferably with 6 people only. Kitchen was great; bathrooms were great; living room was great; and lake view was great.
Owner response:Thank you for the positive. Sorry the inflatable mattress didn't work out. There was also another single temperpedic mattress in closet. Again, thank you for taking the time to send in a review.

Our extended family, including Bailey the chocolate lab, stayed in the Town Home over Labor Day weekend. The home is spacious, nicely furnished and has a nice view of the lake. The kitchen was great for preparing family meals and had lots of storage space for all our supplies. Only problem we ran into was with internet access. It was never really available for the weekend. We would love to return in the future. It was a wonderful place for our family to be together
