Cozy Log Home - Gorgeous 80 Acres (10 Minutes to New Buffalo)

Year Purchased: 2006

Why the Owner Chose New Buffalo

My husband and I have been coming to this region for over 20 years. It is only an hour and twenty minute drive from downtown Chicago, and it is in the wonderful "Harbor Country" region. It is in the Lake Michigan watershed, and is blessed by cooling breezes in the summer and a wealth of wildlife and natural beauty. Lake Michigan beaches, blueberry farms, peach orchards, horseback riding, hiking trails, bird watching, world-class performing arts, art galleries and shops are all within a 10 to 20 minute drive.

The Unique Benefits at this Log Cabin

Gazing out over the ponds, the rolling hills, at the end of our 1,800 foot long driveway, we hear nothing but the sounds of the birds, the wind in the trees, and the occasional wildlife that pokes its head out. Deer graze at dawn and at dusk. It is truly magical.

Owner's Map of New Buffalo

My husband and I discovered the New Buffalo area twenty years ago and fell in love! When we were ready to purchase, we wanted something close enough to all the action of New Buffalo, Three Oaks and the beaches, and yet secluded and peaceful. After a long search we found this perfect property. For us, it is our idea of heaven to be sitting on the front porch sipping our wine, gazing out over the 80 acres and the five acre pond, watching the wildlife. It is a perfect retreat from our hectic city lives, that calms and refreshes us. It offers us seclusion, yet is close to great restaurants, art and antique galleries, golf courses, the beach, and more. We love it.

    • My husband and I took our 2 dogs and went to celebrate our anniversary here. The views were breathtaking. It was so quiet all the time which allowed us to sit on the roomy deck and read our books. The dogs loved the house and all the land that they could roam around on without a leash. The well water took a little getting used to. Being here away from the hustle of the City, made us want to buy a cabin of our own. We would definitely go back to visit this home.

    • My husband and I spent a much needed vacation on this beautiful property. The owner of WAYA rentals was very quick to respond and helped us book the home with ease. We loved the privacy of the home. It was a great rustic setting.

      Homeowner Response:
I would just like to say it means a lot to us at Waya Rentals that every renter has a great time, Thanks for the kind words.

    • A really terrific place to stay. The view from the front porch is picture perfect. Quiet at night with only the sound crickets and quiet during the day. The few ponds on the property are great and I was tempted to go for a swim. Kids would love it. The home was very comfortable and well apoointed.

    • We went for a weekend of fun at the beach and in town but when we got to the Sanctuary we opted to stay. The views were idyllic, the house clean and comfortable, and the grounds, 80 acres to ourselves, offered plenty of activities from hiking and fishing to basketball and bike riding. We left only once to go out for dinner (well, twice, once to shop for food when we got there and realized we didn't want to leave). It was the best value I've had in a long time.
