My wife and I spent four nights here and what was advertised was what we found, very nice! We were close to downtown and beach. Had a great view of city which was especially beautiful at night. Bed was comfortable. Owners were easy to work with and very responsive to our emails and phone calls. Our one suggestion: need some beach towels. One does not travel with beach towels as they take up too much space in suitcase. We bought some at International Market (just a short walk) to use at beach. We would stay here again.

Great location! Condo is on a quiet street away from the noise and traffic, but an easy walk to everything. Several great resturants within 2 blocks. The beach is 10 minutes. We walked as far as the zoo, 20 minutes. The Bus stops less than a block away, and will take you all over honolulu and most of Ohau. The building is very quiet. We stayed 13 nites and heard noise from outside only one time. The view from the deck is awsome. You cant see much of the ocean but the mountains are nice, and the city lights at nite is great. The only drawback is the lack of closet space. After 2 weeks we had bought a lot of stuff to take home, and space was a little tight. We thought we would do a lot of cooking to save money, but prices are very high, and many resturants had great specials or coupons. we cooked 3 meals there and ate out the rest. Hey, you are on vacation, try something different, and the resturants are diverse. If this is your first time in Hawaii, try to spend over a week here. There is a lot more than beaches here.

Secure and Clean Condo

Safety is my first concern and it was comforting knowing that there is a locked entry and security. The studio is quiet, clean and bug free. It has an extra firm mattress and all the kitchenware you will need. Perfect for a single or couple. Close to restaurants, shopping, bus and trolley. Owners are quick to notify you of your refund and they are there for any of your needs. I would consider renting there again.

Did NOT work out for us - Pros & Cons

Pros: Owner responds very quickly via e-mail, provides detailed instructions, very organized with paperwork & monetary transactions, condo easily within walking distance to beach, nice view (fireworks on July 4th!), price. Cons: Too loud - despite being high up. We couldn't sleep with the sliding door open - there were sirens going most of the night. When I complained after our stay of the noise the owner said that had we stayed on a lower floor or another building it would have been worse! Pull out sofa uncomfortable. TV's remote did not function. I called the owner to explain the remote didn't work. He tried to walk me through the remote set-up but with no luck. I said I would keep trying but had no luck. The owner never called back to follow up with me whether it was working or not and did not come and fix it during the 3 days we stayed there. When I complained after our stay of this problem the owner said that he never advertised, specified or disclosed that the TV came with a remote! I just don't understand how you are supposed to use a 40 inch flat screen wall mounted TV without a remote! Pest treatment was done while we were staying there. A notice was slipped under the door after it was completed while we were out of the condo. It concerned me since I had an infant with me. The owner said not to worry since they do not fumigate and it is approved safe for humans.He said he knew about them coming. I would have appreciated a warning so I could have put some things away. No easy place to eat in the condo: we didn't want to eat in the living area because we were worried about possibly soiling the carpet, but the balcony isn't very comfortable for eating and can be dark and loud. No closet. Owner has unrealistic expectations if you do cleaning yourself. My mother and I truly did spend 2 hours cleaning the place according to the detailed instructions. The owner still did not provide the full refund (only partial) and explained in detail and with "geoCoded, date and time stamped" photos where the errors were. I refused to believe that the pictures provided were of dirt we left. For example he said that "There were drips on the under-burners" when we didn't even use the stove! We left the place in the same condition, if not better, than we received it. The owner and I had numerous emails after our stay with all the same info as above. He not once felt that he was in the wrong. I do not recommend staying here.

Owner response:Thanks for your feedback. The location of the unit, street address, building plan, floor plan and aerial views are fully disclosed in the advertisement. Waikiki is a high density population area with varying amounts of city sound depending on your location. Our unit is quieter than most since it is way up on the 22nd floor, opens to the Koolau mountains on one side and has no building up to the same height directly across the street. Between the time you reserved and actually stayed in the unit we replaced the 14 inch pedestal mounted TV with a 40 inch wall mounted Sony Bravia flat screen TV. The Sony has enough buttons on it to connect with all standard cable channels. Also we added a hardwood table with 4 chairs to the Lanai. Most guests have considered those bonus upgrades and the Lanai with it’s wicker coffee table and love seat, clear glass railing, views of the Koolau Mountains, Ala Wai Canal, Punchbowl National Monument Crater, Peek a boo ocean views, Friday fireworks vista – a delightful place to eat, drink and relax by day or night. We believe it’s a guest’s right to receive a clean, pest free unit. That’s why we clearly communicate that it’s necessary to return the unit in the same condition received to get a full deposit refund at least 5 times prior to reserving the unit. To assure the unit is clean and to discover what was left soiled, we personally go over the unit ourselves between each guest. We provided you with a detailed list and photos of residual soil and deducted $30 from your deposit to cover the cost of restoring the cleanliness to the standard in which it was rented to you. The cleaning procedure was carefully communicated to you prior to your reservation. Cleanliness also avoids attracting pests, which in a warm environment must be controlled. Yes, we know the building maintenance crew regularly treats each unit with products non toxic to humans but we don’t always know when they do it. The fold out bed is a high quality brand name Natuzzi Italian made, leather sofa sleeper with a foam topper available upon request, as advertised for 4 years. Island Colony was built as the tallest and largest building in Waikiki with 700 units. None of the studios came with built in closets. Ours has, as disclosed in the advertisement, a free standing armoire with 4 shelves, a drawer, room for a half dozen hangers and a full length mirror. Thanks for staying with us. The condo was clean, quaint, cozy and comfortably slept four people. The view was great both during the day and night! The lanai was an added bonus! The place had everything one wanted: wide screen TV (cable, Wi-Fi), cooking utensils, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very happy that the condo was only a few mintues away from Waikiki Beach and the many different tourist attractions. The location of the condo in the city was perfect for exploring Wikiki on foot and for day trips to other sites and traveling to the North Shore; we felt safe walking at night. The unit was small but adequate for our purpose as a base for day trips. We did not use the stove for cooking, instead choosing to go out for dinner; if someone plans to do a lot of cooking, they should be aware that it is a stovetop only. Our adult daughter was traveling with us; the pull out sofa provided a better option than 2 beds when we returned for a break before going out for the evening. We were lucky to find parking on the street, rather than having to pay the daily parking fees. We appreciated the option to clean the condo rather than incurring the cleaning fee. The owner was easy to work with and responsive to our questions.

My husband and I stayed at Robin's Condo for our anniversary. It was clean and offered a kitchen, fridge, and beautiful Lanai overlooking the canal and downtown area. It is within walking distance to shopping, bus line (avoid driving if you can), and beaches. The condo was well stocked with all the kitchen necessities for cooking as well as offering A/C for those muggy nights. Our only complaint had nothing to do with the owners, but with the building itself. The Island Colony was right in the middle of a remodel which meant very loud construction noice, hammering, yelling of workers and what have you during the day. We were hoping to take in some well deserved naps, but could not due to all that was going on. We took in the sights during much of the day to avoid the construction was going on, but it would have been nice to hang by the pool. The owners were great to work with and very helpful with suggestions. Thank you so, so much for everything !!

We stayed in this condo for our vacation stay. We loved the lanai, it is so spacious! We enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai and watching the locals rowing their canoes in the Ala Wai Canal. We didn't have to pay for parking since we parked right by the canal. It took a bit of effort to park since Waikiki tends to get crowded, but we saved money doing that. The condo location was perfect, everything was within walking distance. Robin: Thanks for a wonderful stay. You were very quick in processing all the paperwork needed for our stay and paying for the condo was a breeze.

Great location, very convenient. Unfortunately, my experience was tainted by the cleaning charges I was charged, which in my opinion, were not only exaggerated but unnecessary. Owner also charged an additional $50 for having to clean carpet which he claims had a lot of black marks and dirt. First of all, the carpet is old rose and dates back to the 80's. Shoes were removed at the door at all times. How those supposed black marks appeared is a mystery to me. As far as all the details pertaining to the cleaning required after our departure, only one word comes to mind, ridiculous!! We were very careful when cleaning and made sure to clean all glass surfaces, but apparently there were smudges!! We even vacuumed as we were leaving! Regarding the quarter size black smudge found on the beautiful yellow leather couch, there is another mystery. My recommendation to anyone renting this property, do not bother wasting your time cleaning, because you will be charged the cleaning fee regardless.

Owner response:Many Condotels have a standard, non-refundable cleaning charge. We give our guests the choice. My wife and I re-clean and check the unit thoroughly between each guest. In so doing it's obvious where the previous guest has not cleaned and we send each guest the cleaning detail and deduct the corresponding labor and material from the deposit as agreed. The rental agreement and sign on the back of the unit door clearly provide a detailed cleaning checklist. Most guests return the unit in the same condition they receive it and get the full deposit back.

We (two of us) got a super last minute deal for this place. Robin was great with communication during the set up and once we arrived, we lacked for nothing. The lanai is the largest I've ever had.
