Our New Favorite Place
Our New Favorite Place
This was our fourth visit to the St. Ann's Bay area. This house and it's location are perfect for us. The house is cozy, clean, and the views right out of the window are to die for. The property sits on lovely acreage and is peaceful beyond words. Right down the road is Captain Capers Fish and Chips. One of the best we've ever had. The owner, Moe was friendly and a hoot to talk to. The Gaelic College is a short drive away. This was just what we needed. The price was good and the owners responded to inquiries quickly. Wish we could have stayed much longer.

Great Breton Area Cabin
Great Breton Area Cabin
This cabin and the location are excellent! It is a great base for day trips to Great Breton National Park, Louisburg, Bird Island tours, and provincial parks (for great hiking without crowds). We did all of these things plus we spent quiet time at the property. There are short walks on the property to the water's edge or through woods. The view from the cabin is amazing. It is quiet and quaint and no other properties are visible. You can enjoy all of this but the cabin is just 2/10th of a mile or so off a main road. Kitchen well equipped. Screen porch a big plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Owner did not disclose that 2 bedrooms are in the basement. The basement is not updated, it is damp and musty despite a dehumidifier running. My kids slept on the couch. If you have small children the railing around the basement stairs is very low and open...dangerous for little ones. The upstairs shower scared everyone! Owner must replace this. Burned-out exterior lights. Needed to wash the bed sheets myself as they did not smell clean. Beautiful view, but old pictures on-line show trees smaller...soon view will be obscured. If work was done could be very nice. Owner fair with refunding money after complaints.

Owner response: My husband and I are so sorry that the cottage did not meet their expectations. I have not had any of these complaints in the past 9 years that we have rented the cottage. Although we find it a little disheartening...I guess you can't please everyone. We offered them a full refund and found them a very nice place nearby, but they would not go. Makes you wonder eh?
