Colorado custom log home situated on 20 isolated acres on the edge of the Rocky Mountain National Park and the North St. Vrain Creek.
With Mount Meeker towering overhead there is convenient access to trails leading up to waterfalls, high mountain lakes, glaciers and fields of wildflowers. Hiking downstream one can fish for wild native trout through a protected 10 mile canyon. Otherwise sit beside the roaring creek and read, write or paint amongst the deer, elk, ouzel and fluttering aspen.
Walk back through the woods to the lodge and join the folks who never left the cozy Tulakivi fireplace surrounded by ancient Ingelman Spruce and vaulted ceiling gazing out onto the forest and fourteen thousand foot Mt. Meeker. Enjoy barbeque on the sun-bathed deck or quietly around the candlelit table while the kids rampage downstairs on the bunks, ping-pong table and watch movies.
Fall asleep to the sound of tumbling waters and a canopy of stars.
Awaken to the pink hues of dawn cascading down the sleeping Mountain.
After several days of wilderness experience, drive 20 minutes into the resort town of Estes Park and enjoy the full fare of entertainment. Drive further over the highest continuous road in the country which traverses the Continental Divide and drops down into the Colorado River basin and Grand Lake. Enjoy all that the Rockies have to offer on the Colorado River and National Park trails. Return home to our lodge in Wild Basin by way of Mary's Lake, Balpate Inn, Eagleplume's cabin and St. Malo's Chapel on the Rock. Veteran Colorado Visitor Highly Recommends

I now understand why all the previous reviews gave this property a five star rating. I have been a visitor to Colorado for most of my 60+ years, and without a doubt, this is the best place in which I've stayed. The property is appealing to the senses - the visual elegance of the lodge, the sweet smell of the surrounding pines, the soothing sounds of the rapids on the North Saint Vrain flowing through the property. Although this property has a Highway 7 address, the highway can't be seen from the property, and the distance from it and the local topography prevent any highway noise from reaching the lodge. You are left with a feeling of remoteness, yet you have all the amenities needed for comfortable living and are only a short drive from civilization. One of the many things I like about the lodge is that there are three distinct living areas in which groups or individuals can congregate apart from others in their party, and in nice weather the three outdoor decks attached to the main level provide additional opportunities. You do not have to retreat to your bedroom to enjoy some private time. When you meet the owner (he always greets his guests personally), you will understand why he chose this location to build his wonderful lodge. (Ask him about his scramble up and down Mount Meeker.) Whether you are a veteran visitor like me who loves all there is about the mountains of Colorado, or if you are a first timer looking for a place that offers the best experience, Wild Creek Lodge is for you. You will return. And so will I.

What a wonderful time we had at Wild Creek Lodge. Everything was lovely and very accommodating for our vacation including the items necessary for little ones. We had everything we needed and every time we thought of something, low and behold, it was located in the cabin. Everyone enjoyed the activites at the cabin including the trampoline, basketball, river and teepee. The location is perfect with Rocky Mountain National Park right across the street and Estes Park down the road. We hope to visit the area again and we definitely hope to stay at the Wild Creek Lodge.

Stunning Views, Awesome Vacation Home, Gracious Host

We visited Wild Creek Lodge the week of August 6th and the home was clean and in excellent condition. The Owner was a gracious host and spent time answering our questions and offering insights into the area. The lodge is located within a few miles of some of the best trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Conveniently located 20 minutes from Estes Park, we were able to hit just about every attraction in the area with ease of travel. We had 10 people in our group and it was ideal for a large group with kids - trampoline, basketball court, games and plenty of amenities to keep everyone moving while we plotted our next hike. The great room had stunning views of Mt. Meeker adjacent to Longs Peak. The Big Thompson River rushed below the house on trails within the property itself. Plenty of room to move around in the home but the layout promoted everyone spending time together - awesome for dinner time prep and dining. The Owner was flexible with our changing travel schedule and sincerely wanted everyone to enjoy their time in the Rockies. This would be the first place we would look if we return to the Park anytime soon.

First and foremost - the pictures above do not do the cabin or forest around the cabin justice - the cabin is comfortably luxurious, the views and sound of the nearby St. Vrain unforgettable and offers the ability to relax in peace or enjoy a short hike While 20 miles south of Estes, the drive is easy and you are very close to 2 amazing entrances to RMNP and nearby Lake Lily which is one of the best trout fishing lakes in the park We have 5 teenagers who described the cabin as the perfect getaway. In addition to being truly secluded - you will never see or hear neighbors, the cabin itself is so comfortable and the kids found enough to do with ping pong, basketball and the trampoline PLUS all the adventures outdoors. The layout makes for enough room to visit, enjoy the rec room/play games together or sneak away for some privacy. This cabin is a true gem

Best Vacation we ever had!!

We took our our kids and grandkids and it was awesome. Grandkids from 2-18 and everyone had a great time. The house is even better in person. Sleeping with the river sound was fun and the master bedroom is beyond words. We did not want to leave. The house had a book that people that stay can write notes and it was fun to read everyone that had stayed. The kitchen was fun to cook in. If you want the best vacation ever-this is where you should go!

We Love This Cabin and Location

We loved the cabin and location. 5 of us for 10 nights, expanded to 9 of us for the middle 7 nights during Thanksgiving. An ideal setting for a wonderful family holiday. The St. Vrain Creek some 50 yards away is a huge plus for this cabin. Adventurous. Inspirational. There was one big snow storm our 2nd night, that gave us a little trouble driving out the private gravel drive the next day, but we made it. Snow flurries several days during the trip that made it festive, holiday like. One night of severe winds, 65 mph plus, a little scary, but this big, massive cabin, stood its ground nicely. We did all the most popular hikes in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Truly magnificent, incredible. Estes Park, only a 15 minute drive, offers groceries, restaurants, etc. We ate at several, all the typical tourist type, over priced and not worthy to write home about. There is Starbucks, we love, and a highlight to our daily adventures. And Dominos Pizza, which we don't like at home, but this one was very good, where we picked up twice after long hikes. Nice and modern kitchen. We cooked for all 9 several times, it was like being at home, and the outside grill came in handy. At the cabin, we enjoyed family games, reading, etc., and attempted to get everyone away from computers and TV. But the reality, today, in a big family, it is almost a losing battle. My only suggestion is adding at least 1 more TV w/ DVD, and getting cable/satellite. Oh, one more highlight, we all enjoyed looking at the pictures of when the cabin was built, especially what appeared as fun, loving, good times as a family. Thank you for allowing us to stay and visit. What a great place. Sincerely, Bill & Charlotte, and family.

Our family enjoyed a week at Wild Creek Lodge in early October. The lodge suited all of our needs and was not only very attractive but very comfortable. The acreage around the lodge is beautiful and the creek was a wonderful lullaby. The owner welcomed us on arrival and could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed Estes Park and the National Park but were always happy to return to the lodge. The proximity of the property to various trailheads in the park was a big plus. We would all like to make a return trip to Wild Creek and recommend it wholeheartedly.

This is a truly breathtaking custom designed and built home of huge virgin logs, custom woodwork, comfortable beds, a wonderful soapstone Finnish fireplace, and ample amenities (dishes, utensils, blankets, etc.) for our 4 families to meet for a week of high-country activity. The roaring river 50 yrds away, hummingbirds, deer walking by, proximity to Estes Park and all it's hiking trails. The owners were very helpful, friendly, and professional. The home was in wonderful condition.. They are clearly longtime lovers of the outdoors. We couldn't be happier with our choice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Colorado, last July, and staying at this home was great. It is exactly as described and has plenty to do right on the property. If you're a birdwatcher, you won't be disappointed! Although we spent much of the time taking in Rocky Mountain National Park, it was great to come back to such a comfortable, relaxing, and very private place. The sound the North St. Vrain creek lulled us to sleep each night along with the fresh mountain air. The location is very convenient to both the National Park and the city of Estes Park.

We have been visiting Estes for many years and have tried all types of accomodations, but now we can stop looking. The Lodge at Wild Creek was perfect for our combined families,(one comes all the way from Singapore.) The property is a little remote but that is what we love about it. The creek which is more like a roaring river runs behind the house, and we spent many hours wandering along the banks and viewing the wildlife. One evening the bbq grill had a malfunction and Jon drove all the way from Boulder to bring us a replacement. We highly recommend this house and plan on booking again for next year. Thanks for providing the perfect get-away.
