Escape from the City! Beautiful, extremely private beach house.
Located on 12 acre family retreat of quiet, private, no-bank waterfront with spectacular views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains, this cozy beach house offers a classic NW beach experience without the hassle of a ferry and just 90 minutes from Seattle. The beach is filled with oysters, there are crabs just off the beach and the BBQ is on the deck! You will love falling asleep to the waves lapping your beach, and waking up next to the water, the sunrise lighting the Olympic peaks directly across from you, spending the day in the sun and remarkably warm water (in the summer) and enjoying dinner and a beach fire at sunset. From the large deck next to the water's edge watch the seals, cormorants, eagles and Orca pass! In the winter, light the fireplace, get cozy and gaze at the snow covered Olympics. This is the NW at its best! Unspoiled, quiet beauty.
A truly exceptional beach house.
ACTIVITIES: Kayaking: There is a kayak on the property for your use. BOATING: If you want to bring your own boat there is a private ramp.

I have to tell you that I came from Paris with my family for a trip on the west coast of the US…We ended by coincidence staying in hootcanal in these magic cabins have been the best time we had in the entire trip (6 weeks). We rented both cabins which made our lives so simple (we were 10).Arrival was easy: my family arrive after a beautiful 90 min drive from Seattle and my sister (a bit more adventurous) chose the ferry. Her family loved it and said it prepared them to this amazing time. When we arrived at the end of the day, we were stunned by the sunset. While the kids were running around like crazy discovering the quite big property and beach, we rested on the deck sipping an excellent Oregon red win… each deck of the cabin is a real magnet… We never got tired of watching the bay and the seals resting. One evening we saw some orcas. The owner said we were lucky ? ! The place is an amazing peaceful retreat… Everyday, we woke up with the sounds of the waves and with the view of the fjord as the first sight of the day. I can tell you that having a first sip of coffee rolled up in a blanket sitting on the deck, watching eagles was for us amazing ! The beach at the bottom of the 2 cabins are very cute and safe (oysters are amazing). We had a lot of fun with the kids there… playing card, chatting around the beach fire…In the entire trip, we hardly see them during the day. They spent a lot of playing on the beach, swimming (get some shoes though to swim because of oyster), fishing, playing in the forest and discovering the beaches around. No busy roads to get worried at all ?, nor neighbors. We had the feeling we were just the 10 of us.We enjoyed a lot the outside, but both cabins were well set up: nice fireplace, comfy armchairs to watch this unique view of the bay, great kitchen with all the ustensil you need ( have to say that as a French, I was quite amazed of all the pots and pans that this family have to cook ?…).Even if we are back in Paris, our hoot canal trip is still very vivid. We are still so enthousiastic about it that this region might see an invasion of Frenchie pretty soonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Tahuya:
As the family became larger with grandchildren, we decided that we would search for a place where the family could all gather together. One visit is all it took to convince us that this was the retreat that would allow us to escape from the City and avoid the hassles of the ferry.
