Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
David and I have traveled the world for the past 30 years and we fell in love with Nicaragua and especially, with Hacienda Iguana! We love the beach, this country and especially, its people.
Why the Owner Chose Tola
We live in the mountains and couldn't resist the beautiful sea in Nicaragua. What a grand adventure it is there! We love it more every year.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
The sound of the sea is one of the most calming sounds in the world. Iguana attracts an adventurous spirit and we have met so many folks we love and enjoy spending our time with there. It has a nice mix of younger and older people, but all are young at heart!

We really enjoyed our 2 week stay and would come back in a heartbeat. The condo was very nice with adequate room and great views. Enjoyed the pool out front and the beach is terrific, only a few feet away. We rented a golf cart for the week which is very handy especially for running down to the "Colorado" break which is at the other end of the beach. The only problem we had was with the refrigerator and the coffee pot breaking and bit of smell coming from hall shower drain. The local manager "Rob" was extremely friendly and helpful in resolving our issues and went out of his way to help us in any way that he could. Other than the few issues that we ran into I would give it an excellent rating. Yolanda's Restaurant is the bomb(20 min drive) and Isabella's Restaurant(15 min drive) are the best eating options near Hacienda Iguana within reasonable driving distance of Hacienda Iguana. I would highly recommend stocking up on groceries at the new Maxi-Pali store in Rivas on the Pan American Hiway prior to driving to Hacienda Iguana (or opting for paying ahead of time to have meals prepared at the condo for a fee). Other notes of interest regarding our first trip to Nicaragua. We spent 3 great weeks in Nicaragua and also really enjoyed Granada, touring the Pueblos Blancos, Masaya Volcano, Lake Apoyo, zipline at Mombacho Volcano and Totoco Ecolodge on Ometepe. The Nicaraguan people were very friendly and we didn't sense any resentment toward Americans in the places that we visited. Hacienda Iguana was very safe. In the higher traffic tourist areas it is wise to be prudent with your valuables and who you trust as in tourist areas any other country(including America).
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
