This magnificent 3-floor family lodge is on 600’ of southwest facing gentle sloping shoreline on Nelson Lake with 2500 acres. It is one of the most majestic and relaxing setting for a vacation retreat. Unlike many overdeveloped lakes, more than 50% of the lakes shoreline is inhabited only by nature and her wildlife. Make sure you look for the nesting bald eagles, loons, geese, swans or osprey that we are honored to have selected this as their summer home. The property has majestic fir trees, a private small boat launch and 2 docks on the finest setting of the 31-mile shoreline of Nelson Lake with wilderness islands, bay and forest views. The large deck was expanded, two new larger docks, and a new circle brick fire pit were updated.
The lodge is ideal for retreats, several couples and family gatherings. The spacious lakefront yard is perfect for family games with a large circle brick and rock fire pit for evening bonfires (wood provided). Two nice public boat launches are not far away. Swim, fish, boat, jet ski, waterski, snowmobile, cross-country ski, or bike from the property. The beach is sandy in places by the main dock and rocky in others. We swim and float on innertubes by the main dock with a swim ladder. A 16 foot aluminum row boat and 2 person paddleboat are provided. Pontoon and fishing boat rental is available on the lake. Nelson lake is not a heavily used lake especially at our location and has several resorts, eating spots, and bars that can be boated/pontooned/driven to. The Hayward area and nearby Bayfield peninsula (60 miles) offer unlimited vacation opportunities such as the October Bayfield Apple Festival and the Stone Lake Cranbury Days. * No smoking*

Year Purchased: 1933
About the owner: Great Grandfather August Tanning purchased land in 1933 on the Totogetic River that in 1935 was flooded by the new dam to create Nelson Lake. Since his land was flooded a section of land was substituted. There have been several versions and updates of houses starting with a pole shed, a one bedroom, a 1980 major update to a 2 bedroom house added on to the original foundation, and finally a teardown and building of the current Lodge in 2002. The family property in owned by the parents and five siblings.
Why the Owner Chose Hayward: The most magnificent 180% views from the house and the wrap-around deck always has a shady or sunny place to sit.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge: Peace and solitude compared to most lake places.
