Well-Appointed Accomodations in Charming Town!

My family of four, including two small children, stayed for a week in this lovely home in the town of Beaufort. The home is thoughtfully and newly decorated and owned by gracious and accommodating hosts- a real vacation/ get away treat. It is also in walking distance of this charming southern town- Beaufort, SC. Saunter six blocks down the street from these accommodations to the wonderfully renovated waterfront where you can peruse the interesting art galleries; hold quiet conversations while gliding in the porch swing overlooking Beaufort river with a glass of wine; tour historic homes; and eat wonderful meals on the outdoor patios of noteworthy restaurants like Saltus. Cross the river to swim at the beautiful beach in Hunting Island Park where crowds are few; Palmettos shroud your beach blanket; and state park status eliminates unsightly commercial and residential coastline growth. Kayak with guides from Beaufort Kayak to gain the best views and learn the history of Beaufort and its stately homes or explore the Salt Marsh to experience Puffer Fish in defense and dolphins in their freedom. Whether you are friends traveling together; a couple alone or a family with kids, there is something for everyone. This area of SC is a little off the beaten path - but that's part of its charm - get away not only from everyday life but from the crowds and beach town tourists. Stay at this Beaufort townhome and be rewarded with comfort, convenience, and southern hospitality. You won't be disappointed!.

My family and I really enjoyed staying here. The condo has plenty of room for 4 adults. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops every day. We were also close to St. Ease, Sheldon Church, and the lighthouse. Loved our time there!!!

My husband and I stayed at this town home for a few days around Veteran's Day. The moment we opened the door, we knew we'd love it there. Everything you'd hope for in a vacation home is there. Sara and Gary have tastefully decorated and furnished the home with extra touches, such as throw blankets, extra pillows on the couch, just the types of items you'd keep around your own home to make it warm and inviting to guests! The home is conveniently located in the historic district and is close to everything. Don't miss out on great dinners at Breakwater Grill on Carteret St or breakfasts at Blackstones Deli on Scott St. We also had the best time meeting and getting to spend time with Dottie, who lives next door to the rental. Lovely, lovely lady!
Owner response:You were awesome guests! Thank you for finding us and for the wonderful review!

Sister Trip

My Sister and I (23 & 30 years old) have made Beaufort our July 4th tradition for the past 3 years. We have stayed at hotels the past 2 years, so we thought we would treat ourselves and stay in a house this time. When browsing rentals the Tetley’s property stood out among the other rentals. I could tell from the pictures that the townhouse was decorated very nicely and it was even better in person. The 2 bedroom 1 and 1/2 bath townhome is so cozy and stocked with everything you could possibly need on your trip and they even went above and beyond by including a picnic basket, bikes, movies, games and beach towels. You really feel like you are a guest of the Tetley’s instead of just a renter. The price was great also and you really feel like you get your money’s worth. The townhouse is located about a 1/2 mile to the beautiful Riverfront Park in Beaufort’s Historic district, so it is a nice walk to our favorite restaurant in Beaufort, Plums. We ate there for lunch and dinner and we joke that it is the only reason we keep coming back to Beaufort. We took day trips to Charleston and Savannah which are about an hour and 1/2 away. When I was in Charleston someone referred to Beaufort as the hidden gem of SC and I totally agree. It has the same charm as Charleston but smaller, more intimate and more relaxing. Hunting beach is a 30 minute drive from Beaufort and totally worth the $5 per person admittance fee to be able to relax on a beautiful laid back beach. I would chose any of the SC beaches over the Florida ones. There is just a different vibe here and I love it. I would definitely stay at the Tetley Townhome again. It is one of those places that you don’t want to brag on too much b/c it may become too popular and then you can’t stay there again. :)

My mom and I stayed at the Island Town House in May 2011 and I can't say enough good things about the stay! It's such a pretty place and we immediately felt relaxed when we walked inside. I loved how there were plenty of books on Beaufort so we could figure out exactly what we wanted to see and also learn more about the area. Also, having the movies available that were filmed in Beaufort were a great touch. We watched the Big Chill after peering through the bushes at the house where it was filmed earlier that day. It was a wonderful weekend and my only complaint was we didn't get to stay longer! We also loved talked to Dottie next door. She will be one of our best memories of Beaufort along with the Island Town House! Hope we get to come back soon!

Perfect for Exploring Historic Beaufort Area

The "Island Townhome" is a wonderful rental. The townhome itself has a great layout, including a living room, dining area, kitchen, and half bath on the downstairs level; and two bedrooms and full bath on the upstairs level. The furniture is very nice and comfortable, and the home is decorated vary tastefully. There is also a great collection of movies and music to choose from, along with numerous publications and books that reference the Beaufort area. Be sure to watch a movie filmed in Beaufort, like "Forrest Gump" or "The Big Chill," during your stay. Also, the owners provide an organized notebook, on the living room coffee table, which includes an abundance of helpful and interesting information including: local restaurant menu's (be sure to try Plums and The Shrimp Shack), local golf course information, area maps, and instructions for the operation of various items in the townhome, such as the DVD player or cable remote. This townhome is in an ideal location for exploring historic Beaufort and the surrounding islands. The historic "point" area of Beaufort, with its estately southern mansions, is just across Carteret Street from the front steps of the townhome; literally only seconds away. The shops and restaurants of Bay Street and the tranquil waterfront boardwalk area is only a five minute walk towards the bay. If you wish to explore the surrounding area, simply take a quick right onto Carteret Street (Hwy 21) and heads toward the bay bridge. Just across it, about a 5 minute drive from the townhome, you'll find Lady's Island, which offers more shops and restaurants. About 5 minutes east of Lady's Island, you'll find yourself in St. Helena, as you head towards one of the coolest public beaches on the east coast, Hunting Island. A SC state park, Hunting Island is quite unique in that the native vegetation is essentially undisturbed. As you drive into the entrance, you'll immediatley find yourself surrounded by various palms, towering pines, and sprawling live oaks. The thick vegetation eventually gives way to the beach, which is very clean and quiet. There is ample parking and numerous restrooms. While there, be sure to visit the lighthouse, the only one on the SC coast open to the public. It's quite a view from the top! Also, take time explore the the saltwater estuary or the fishing pier on the south end. Check out Port Royal on your way back from the beach. You can't go wrong with this townhome!

What an enjoyable stay in this lovely townhome. Within walking distance of downtown restaurants, the waterfront and oh so many beautiful homes to stroll by. We especially enjoyed watching the DVD's that were specific to Beaufort and had fun searching and finding the Great Santini home. We definitely will keep this home at the top of our list when visiting family in Beaufort again. About a 30 minute ride to Hunting Island, we enjoyed kayaking and a visit to the beach and the lighthouse as well. (If you view this listing on Google maps and view the "street view" it is a little misleading and may not appear to be in a desirable area. We then asked a relative to ride by the location to confrim and it was definitely in an area where we felt very safe walking - what a beautiful town.)
Owner response:What wonderful comments! We are lucky to have had such terrific guests like your family. Like you found out, we are in the prestigious National Landmark Historic District, and outside our door are antebellum homes in every direction and the beautiful waterfront just steps away in 3 directions. So glad you enjoyed your visit! We'd love to have you return!

This townhouse is a charm - a wonderful place to stay in Beaufort! It's tastefully furnished, comfortable and an easy walk to the town and waterfront. My favorite place was the cozy patio in the back for morning coffee and paper. It's a real find!
