This 1-bedroom oceanfront beautifully remodeled condo is in the famous Ilikai Hotel, and located next door to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort. The location is excellent: a very short walk to Ala Moana Shopping Center, the newly developed and upscale Lewers Street, International Market Place, the Convention Center, and walking distance to several restaurants: Chart House, Benihanas, Outback, Mortons, Islands, Macaroni Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Dukes, Assagios, Bubba Gumps, Calif Pizza Kitchen, Bucca de Bippo, TGIF, PF Changs, and a food court at the Ala Moana Shopping Center with over 40 selections. Our Ilikai condo sits between two very upscale hotels: the Hilton Hawaiian Village which also has several xlnt restaurants, and the Hawaii Prince Hotel which, we think, has the best fish dinner buffet on the island. The condo is also in close proximity to Starbucks, McDonalds, Subway, Round Table Pizza, etc.
The condo has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen: w/new stove/frig/dishwasher/microwave, and several small appliances: crock pots/ricer/foreman grill, coffee pot/tea kettle, martini shaker etc, etc. Our condo is stylishly decorated in Hawaiian motif. The living room has a very comfortable LazyBoy queen sofa sleeper bought in May 2011. 2 comfy LazyBoy recliners, and cable TV w/DVD player, free long distance phone svc within U.S. and Canada, wireless internet service in the condo. The bedroom has a new and very upscale queen size bed (bought in May 2011) w/luxurious sheets and plenty of storage. The bathroom has a built-in makeup mirror and hair dryer. The linen closet provides several beach towels and upscale linens. The storage cabinet provides ironing board/iron, vacuum, cleaning supplies, umbrellas, Scrabble, Yahtzee and card games. The slider completely separates the bedroom from the living room. This is undoubtedly one of the lowest prices you will find for an oceanfront condo in Waikiki which includes all of these amenities.
The spacious Lobby area has several stores which includes a small market, business/fax center, clothing stores, beauty shop, sundry shop, coffee/pastry shop, car rentals and 2 restaurants, incl the renowned 'Top of the I' restaurant with a glass elevator providing gorgeous views. There is a pool, tennis courts, gym and a bbq area.
Covered parking at the Ilikai is approx $22 day. Metered parking is available directly behind the Ilikai at $1 an hour. Month long assigned garage parking is approx $225/month.
The condo is located on the 11th floor and is on the cool side of the building. It looks out over Fort DeRussy Park with the beautiful Ko'olau Mtns in the background. Enjoy a morning cup of Kona Coffee watching the sunrise over the mountains from the lanai, which has a table and 4 chairs plus a lounger for your relaxation.

My friend and I are in our early thirties. We do what we can to avoid tourist traps - that means cheesy theme hotels that fail to deliver on hospitality to chic hotel rooms that make you feel more on edge than a place to unwind from the day's adventures. Ohau wasn't our first choice (my friend's sister was getting married) -- BUT Ken and Virginia's condo was just one of the special treats that made our trip feel as if we were residents (home away from home) rather than vacationing for a week. We got to experience the non-tourist side of Ohau - which has a lot to offer! I highly recommend you put this to the top of your list. The kitchen has everything you need - and so does the rest of the condo, plenty of towels, storage, etc. The Illikai is very well located with the Hilton Lagoon next door (great for kids), a nice protected beach and ocean just a nice walk from the back patio of the hotel, and the flexible harbor parking lot is a huge plus -- I think we averaged about $8-12 per day ($1 per hour, or $4 for 10 hours). It's much more relaxing than in the throws of Waikiki beach proper - but don't worry, you can pick up a shuttle next door at the Hilton, or walk along the boardwalk. Two last comments - the night scene of the city lights from the condo is beautiful (far better than the beach side which is dark, you can't see anything...during the day you shouldn't be in your hotel room) - it's fun falling asleep watching the city lights. Lastly Ken and Virginia were fabulous, and I mean it, to work with - they were flexible with our travel plans, prompt to respond, and even called me at 12:00 am their time (I'm three hours behind them) to make sure I knew the code to get in - like your cool aunt and uncle. Have a great time!

My two children (ages 15 and 12) and I enjoyed a two-week stay at Ken and Virginia's condo in August 2009 and we were very comfortable - we had all the amenities. I think this is one of the best locations to stay since most everything is within walking distance (beach, shopping, restaurants, groceries, bus stop, rental cars, etc.) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this condo, and I would stay there again.

This place has it all, location, comfort and everything you would want for a condo stay. Virgina and Ken have covered all needs perfectly from kitchen utensils to bed linen and towels. A definate home from home feel to the place where we would have no hesitation returning to should we ever find ourselves in Hawaii again. Thanks for the memories. Chris and JOhn

I moved to Honolulu in April, 2008. I stayed in this condo for 2 weeks while I looked for permanent housing. Location is great, close to the water, shopping and Waikiki Beach. Bus stop very close. The condo has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.

We just returned from Oahu. We spent ten days at this condo at the Ilikai. We found it to be clean, homey and charming. Great location! All of Waikiki was within walking distance. Amenities were more than ample and we look forward to our return.

Good location,beautiful well equipped kitchen,comfortable furniture and a very comfortable bed with lots of linens. Not anything missing here for a very comfortable stay. So nice, in fact, we stayed 2 months last year and are coming back for 4 months this winter.
