Location: Kenwood, Sonoma County, Wine Country, California, USA (One Hour from San Francisco, 9 Miles North of Sonoma Square)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6)
The Kenwood Creekside Cottage is located in the historic Adobe Canyon at the foot of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and one hour north of San Francisco in the heart of Sonoma's premier wine country. It is perfectly situated for visiting wineries and exploring Sonoma and Napa Valley.
The Kenwood home is a rustic get-away surrounded by a year round creek and trees that provide comfortable shade at the end of a hot day. The home is a place where you can relax and stretch-out on the roomy sectional couch to watch movies while sipping wine purchased at a local tasting room or open the windows and let the sounds of the creek lull you to sleep. The back patio is a wonderful place to have your morning coffee as you will likely see a family of deer working their way through the woods. The patio is also perfect for grilling-out and enjoying an outdoor candlelit dinner. A new Weber gas grill and full kitchen is ready for your culinary talents.
If you love nature, during your stay, be sure to drive down Adobe Canyon Road to the look-out where you can get a family picture with the fantastic mountain ranges behind you. Keep going to the State Park and go for a hike and a picnic.
If you love discovering new wines and meeting fun people, tour the vineyards in Sonoma. Wineries in Sonoma are special because they are often more personable and less busy than in Napa. The tastings are often free or waved if you buy a bottle of wine. The staff are friendly and take time passionately sharing their knowledge of wine, tasting, and food pairings.
Nearby Wineries include: Chateau St. Jean, Kaz, Landmark, Blackstone, St. Francis, Kunde, Arrowood, Imagery, Mayo, Valley of the Moon, Benzinger, BR Cohn, Ledson, VJB, Kenwood, Sebastiani, Ravenswood, Bartholomew Park, Cline Cellars, Charles Creek, Homewood, Jacuzzi, Muscardini Cellars...and more...throughout the valley and over the ridge into Napa.
There are two scenic drives within minutes from the home that we highly recommend. Both drives take you over the ridge and into Napa Valley. Instead of driving around the Valley to get to Napa, which can take over forty minutes, drive five minutes South from the house and take a left on Trinity Road. It's a gorgeous twenty-minute drive and the view of Napa Valley as you start heading down the mountain is worth the winding road. At the end of the road, take a left and drive for about five minutes. Have the BBQ ribs and grilled artichoke at Rutherford Grill and splurge on the Reserve Tasting Room at Turnbull Winery.
If you head North toward Santa Rosa from the house, in about five minutes you will find Calistoga Road on your right. This country road will take you over the ridge, past the Petrified Forest and Old Faithful Geiser into Calistoga where spa's with hot springs and mud bath's can be found on every corner. After a morning in Calistoga, start driving toward St. Helena for fine food and shopping!
We can help you with planning activities and are happy to recommend restaurants and other destinations. Information is provided at the home on local activities and restaurants.
