Why the Owner Chose Northport
We wanted to have a slice of this heavenly place to call our own and to share with other families. It is hard to imagine another place where children and adults of all ages can find so much enjoyment. It has it all: a beautiful beach, clear clean waters, boating, fishing, biking, fresh local fish, wine and produce, charming villages with charming shops and the incomparable feeling that only comes with being right on the water.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our property is truly one of a kind. It is secluded in the woods, directly on the beach, and offers stunning views of the bay and Gull Island. But more importantly, it is large enough for a large or extended family, or several families vacationing together, to pass glorious northern Michigan days in comfort and luxury, together but with plenty of space. It is casually elegant, like being at an upscale beach resort but with all the amenities and personal touches to allow whoever is staying there to feel that it is their own private home, where they can entertain, relax, and treasure one perfect day after the other.
Here you will find a charming village with a marina, shops, a full service grocery, and restaurants (try the Eat Spot for fantastic pizza). And don't miss Barb's Bakery for her world famous cinnamon t
Not to be missed, Leland, also known as "Fishtown", has an abundance of shops. Carlson's has fresh locally caught fresh and smoked fish. You will find fudge, art, fishing gear and more.
Just past Woolsey Airport (an old fashioned grass runway) on the way to Lighthouse State Park you will find miles of hiking trails through thick woods that lead to the rougher waters of the "big lake"
If you want to see a perfect sunset over Lake Michigan, with a spectacular panoramic view of the islands, plan on an evening at Peterson Park. The kids will enjoy the playgroud too. Sublime.
Just two miles from the beach house, Omena is the home of Leelanau Cellars, one of the area's many vinyards. They have a tasting room right on the water, in the same building as a waterfront restaura
Restaurants, shops, galleries, gallore...Even a movie theatre. Many wineries are nearby, including Blackstar farms which is also the home of Leelanau Cheese.
It has been around as long as I can remember. This family friendly/family owned bar is still dishing up the best burgers on the planet, and oh we love that bar broasted chicken.
Owner's Map of Northport
As I was a small child, I vacationed every summer at my grandmother's rustic and charming fishing cabin on Seven Pines Road in Northport. All my memories are of carefree days, roaming the beach, frolicking in the bay, exploring the beautiful woods, gorging on fresh berries, and staying up very late near a blazing beach fire. When I went away to school, I looked forward to bringing friends from far away to this special place. My husband Andy was one of them, and loves Northport as much as I do. Every summer since our marriage we have gone there, first just the two of us with our books and bicycles, and later with our five children. Although we have been lucky enough to have traveled to may places, Northport remains our very favorite place on the planet.

Wow! We were so lucky to find this beautiful home for our vacation and wedding! It was everything we dreamed of-and our guests all felt the same. The house is beautiful, clean, functional, and has the most gorgeous landscape for a party, ceremony, or just enjoying with your family. Holly, the owner, was amazing to work with. I felt comfortable calling her with questions before arrival and during our stay. Holly even put me in touch with past brides who used the house as their venue for their wedding-that helped so much in my planning process!! The house is close to many wineries, Suttens Bay, Northport, Traverse City, and our personal favorite, Leelanau (Fishtown). We were able to "show-off" how beautiful Up North Michigan is to all of our guests! We highly recommend this house to all wanting to experience true beauty in Northern Michigan!

We chose the Bayshore House to host our Rehearsal Dinner BBQ and Outdoor Beach Wedding after searching and visiting just about every other possible location northern Michigan had to offer. We simply could not have chosen a better place. The house was perfect and idyllic, creating the atmosphere we had dreamed about for our big weekend. We had our wedding party rent rooms from us, which created a very intimant wedding experience. The house had everything we needed, including an amazing private beach with a bonfire pit and a dock that led out to a nice sandy bottom swimming experience. It also needs to be mentioned how gracious and helpful the owners, Holly and Neal, are to their guests. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to pull of our wedding event. All of our guests had an amazing time and called it the best rehearsal dinner and wedding they have ever been a part of. We cannot wait to return to this property to re-live all of the wonderful memories. Thanks again to Holly and Neal for being so helpful. We would absolutely recommend Garage Bar & Grill in Northport, as well as Barb's bakery and Knot-Just-A-Bar. Sleeping Bear Dunes is also a must-see destination, as well as the fabulous wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula.
Owner response:Thanks for choosing our home for your special week. We look forward to your next visit.

Holly & Andy... your beautiful Bayshore home was ideal for our family vacation. The entire week was just absolutely wonderful. This home has just about everything you can hope for in a vacation property. It's close to many fun activities and perfect for day trips (although our family was always reluctant to leave)! The Lake Michigan water is gorgeous and we spent plenty of time on the beach. This home and all of it's amenities are absolutely first class! I have several inquiries about your property everytime I show the photos from our vacation. My entire family is truly in love with your home and it's setting. One of the very best features are the many different gathering spaces. With seven children and two grandbabies we could always find a little private space. The decor is perfect for the setting. Elegant yet casual. We will return to Bayshore House soon. Thanks again for your warm hospitality.
Owner response:Lisa, It was our pleasure to share the beach house with your wonderful and considerate family. We look forward to having you all back again soon.

This was our family's third visit to the Bayshore Beach House and it was another fantastic trip! We cannot imagine spending our family vacation anywhere else. The house perfectly fits our group of 8 adults and 4 children and it has everything you need for a memorable week of fun - kayaks, games, a fully-stocked kitchen, and best of all, an amazing sandy beach right outside your door. We had amazing weather the entire week - warm and sunny everyday. It was difficult to pull our group away from the beach to visit the wonderful towns of Leland and Suttons Bay near the house! Our most memorable experience of the week was watching the 4th of July fireworks from our bonfire on the beach - it was truly special.
Owner response:Karen, Howard and family, Thank you. It is our pleasure sharing our home with your family each year. We are delighted that you consider and treat Bayshore as your own summer home. We hope that next summer you will find it just as you remember (plus a few surprise additions.)

Two friends and I rented Bayshore on a cold and snowy weekend in February. I'd been up to the house the prior August and anticipated a very different vacation. I did not anticipate that our time there would be even more enjoyable. The winter on the peninsula is lovely, serene, and beautiful. The house was in tip-top shape. We spent the afternoons driving around the peninsulas and Traverse and stocking up on wine, which we promptly consumed by the fireplace in the evenings. The lack of tourists made the place seem even more peaceful, and we hope to plan a return trip next winter.
Owner response:Thanks so much Beth! we look forward to having you back up north.

This was our second stay at the Beach House and it was as good as our first. Holly sure makes the rental process easy. Thanks Holly. We've rented other properties in the Norhtport area, but to us, none compare. The house and its layout work perfectly for our large group. We look forward to a third visit in the near future, hoping for a summer trip so we can enjoy the water!

This was our 2nd stay at the Beach House and will not be our last! It was the perfect house for 12 women to escape for a girls wine weekend. We were so happy with not only the size of the home but the cleanliness, decor and location of home. The home had a well stock kitchen too! Beautiful sun rises over Grand Traverse Bay. The owner was fantastic to work with and made sure that everything was taken care of which made our stay so memorable. Great house for large groups or families!

We visited the beach house the week of August 21st and found the location and setting wonderful for our family reunion. The area was peaceful and secluded, offering a sense of our own private beach; we rarely encountered others on the beach. We enjoyed kayaking, bike riding up to the light house, and evening fires reminiscing on the beach. My favorite memory was sitting on the beach watching my husband fishing off the dock one late evening as the largest moon I ever saw came up behind him over the horizon.
