We have stayed at steps to the beach 3 times and are in the process of making plans to return a 4th. time this fall. We are seniors and after staying in hotel rooms to many times have enjoyed the spaciousness and quietness of the house and privacy of the beautifully landscaped grounds. We were pleased to have a well equipped kitchen to prepare most of our meals which we ate by the pool. The house is only a 10 minute walk from a very nice shopping center with restaurants where one can watch the boats on the marina. There is an Italian restaurant here with the best spaghetti by the name of Assagio. Beware the regular servings are large and the small servings are enough for 2 people. John and Tracy are quick to answer questions and make sure everything is going well. This is a wonderful place for 2 people like us or families with children Each time we arrived, the doors to the pool area were open and we felt at home. We were lucky, 2 times when we arrived there were a pair of cardinals flying around the pool with their young. They are beautiful birds.

The photos do not do this house justice. We were 2 families and including 4 kids. Everything we could have needed was included in the house. It was so wonderful to come back at the end of a day and cook a meal in the well fitted out kitchen, sit by the pool with a drink and sit around the dining table planning our next day of adventure. The house is spacious so we all had plenty of room and the beds very comfortable. It is very convenient to supermarket, restaurants and bus stop. Thanks John for a wonderful stay. Would recommned to all . Mahalo

Eight of us were attending a wedding in Oahu, with the reception right down the street at Roy's (highly recommend). Even though Waikiki is so popular, it was a joy to come back to this beautiful home every day!! We all felt spoiled, and we loved staying in Hawaii Kai; so convenient to shopping, starbucks and 24-hr. safeway! The house is just as beautiful as the pictures show with a beautiful view of Koko Crater (recommend hiking). We will definitely be back! John was so helpful with everything, you won't be disappointed! Thanks John! The gang from California & 1 from Connecticut

The house "Steps To The Beach" was so perfect for our 9 family member stay-the swimming pool was a life saver for the children. The location is very convenient-just right for the beach; shopping across the street; easy access to get to any destination. Our family of 6 adults and 3 children were very happy-the weather did not exactly cooperate but we made the best of it. Thank you John for everything.

We had a wonderful stay and this house exceeded our expectations. With 6 adults and 3 young kids, this house made everything so convenient (a crib, beach towels and sand toys were even available). We enjoyed being able to shop at a nearby grocery store and cook at "home" together while enjoying the calming Hawaiian breeze that flowed so nicely throughout this house. This property is modern, clean and very spacious. The pool and back yard was great for the kids and we adults enjoyed our morning coffee everyday outside by the lounge area. John was kind and very accommodating. Thank you for a memorable stay. We hope to be back again soon! Mahalo!

We’ve had the privilege to stay in this home twice in the past three years. After checking on dozens of homes for rent in Hawaii, we felt most welcome here. In fact, going back the second time felt like we had never left. Our favorite features about the home include the expansive, dramatic floor plan and the lush yard. The decor is updated and echos the spirit of Aloha. The kitchen is truly a chef’s dream! We have now celebrated two Thanksgiving dinners in this home. There was plenty of room for the whole family - including grandparents, uncles, aunts, grandchildren and dad. What a truly wonderful experience! The Portlock neighborhood where this home is located is one of the nicest on the island. This home and the homes surrounding this home are multi-million dollar estates. Prepare to be impressed from the moment you enter this clean, well-kept community. The neighbors are friendly and dining, shops and a theater are conveniently located within walking distance. With all the good this home and the surrounding community has to offer, the biggest reason we prefer this home over the rest are the owners, John and Tracy. When we first contacted these folks in 2009, John was kind, courteous, and was willing to go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I asked John a ton of questions about the home and Hawaii, and he patiently answered every one. Upon our arrival, John added a few special touches to make us feel welcome. We really appreciated the fact that John lives “in the area” if you need any help, but isn’t in another part of the house making you feel uncomfortable. Having access to every room in the home also makes you feel trusted, unlike some rental properties that have locked doors. One word of advice: Book this home WAY IN ADVANCE as this home understandably books up fast. Treat yourself to one of the most memorable stays you’ll ever have in Hawaii. We’ll DEFINITELY be back!

My wife and I (along with family and friends) had an amazing time in Oahu! Your accomodations were wonderful! The house was beautiful as was the outside. We did alot of things that we didn't get to do when we were there in 2003. We were suprised to find out that Dog the Bounty Hunter lived down the street.( Wished we could have met him) John was a great host and helped us through the rental process early on, Great job John!! Oahu is an island with lots of things to do. Now its time to explore Maui! Thanks again John for a great vacation!

Our group of 10 had an amazing stay at steps to the beach. we came to Oahu to get married and the house was very luxurious, quiet, comfortable and in a great location. We almost wish we had got married at the house! We hired a rental car to drive into waikiki (15-20 mins drive) or we walked to the park and ride at Hawaii Kai, just a few minutes walk away. The local shops also had some great restaurants like the blu water grill and the Kona brewery and the safeway was also not too far away. We had a few great nights in using the BBQ and swimming pool and at the beach behind the house. The house was a great base for all of us to unwind after a long day of shopping at ala moana! John was very helpful, at the end of the phone whenever we needed anything and he went out of his way to make us feel relaxed and welcome. We would absolutely love to return to steps to the beach and will come back for our anniversary!

John and Tracy, thank you so much for allowing us the use of your wonderful home for our family vacation. It was absolutely perfect. Your home is beautifully decorated and provided every amenity we could ever need. We hosted our Grandmother and other family members who live on Oahu to a BBQ at the home and everyone was thoroughly impressed with the home. We had seven of us staying at the house.....6 adults & 1 child and had plenty of room for everyone. Our 9 year couldn't wait to get back to the house each day to swim in the pool. Again, thank you soooo much.

We were in Oahu for my cousin's wedding. The house easily accommodated our large group (7 adults and 4 kids) and we enjoyed all of the beautiful rooms, especially the large and updated kitchen. The kids enjoyed the pool (and the fun pool toys) and the beach which is very close by. Everything was ready for us and very convenient. The location is great, with markets, restaurants and beautiful (and less crowded) beaches within minutes of the house. John was great to deal with and always made himself available if we had questions. We will miss our time in Hawaii Kai (my 3 year-old-daughter said she wanted to go back to the "other home" when we were driving home from the airport!) Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable.

My wedding party of 8 really enjoyed "Steps To The Beach". It brought joy to my heart to know that it was better than what we imagined, especially after the stress of planning a wedding from Georgia without physically laying eyes on what you were paying for. John was very patient in working with me prior to my arrival, and for that I am grateful. The location was perfect for everything we had planned and the view from the beach was breathtaking. I am truely looking forward to planning another trip for next year!

Thank you John and Tracy for sharing your beautiful home with us to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Everyone really enjoyed the house, especially the pool and outdoor bar! The house had everything one needs to have a great time. Great restaurants nearby, especially enjoyed Roy's and Dukes. Shopping is also convenient (Costco, Foodland, etc.) We'll look forward to a return trip! Thanks again! Shelley and family.

Our family (7 adults including grown children) fully enjoyed Steps to the Beach. The kitchen was complete. We used the outdoor grill. There was snorkel gear and pool toys. We had a family wedding to attend, and so nieces and nephews and their children visited. The pool was a favorite. The proximitiy to the beach for sunsets or wine sipping was a hit. This house seemed to be the one that all of the other family members wanted to hang out at during the evenings. We would recommend it to anyone, and hope we have the opportunity to come back.
