ONE OF THE MOST PEACEFUL PLACES ON EARTH with lots to do.
Warm and cozy in winter, cool in summer, Kyle's Cabin is nestled among Aspen trees and tall Jeffery pines on 20 private acres. At an elevation of 5,700 feet Kyle's Cabin is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the scenic area known as the California Alps. With 2 people per square mile in the county, you can enjoy the natural areas where Tahoe locals go to 'get away'
The 1,200 sq foot natural pine log cabin sleeps six with one queen bedroom and a loft with 4 twin beds. Natural fiber bedding, down pillows, some with feather beds. Tasteful Old-Tahoe decor: knotty pine paneling, native stone fireplace, Irish wood cook stove. A large deck provides optimum night sky viewing. In the morning you may well awaken to bird song and wildlife outside your window.
The owners is next door at Starlight Lodge and will help guide you to the best the area has to offer.

Kyle's Cabin is a beautifully crafted log cabin nestled in an idyllic secluded setting surrounded by trees with a verandah overlooking the valley. The furnishings and decor are rustic and charming. We visited during the summertime and had a delightful trip hiking the nearby trails as well as soaking in the Grover Hot Springs. And for anglers, the fishing is excellent in the West and East Carson Rivers as well as in the Indian Creek Reservoir and multitude of lakes, all within a short drive. We caught our limit of three to four pound trout! Dianna is a warm and engaging hostess who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Kyle's Cabin is a special retreat that you will rave about to your friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

"Starlight Lodge is the last word in rustic luxury. To stay there is to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature without having to rough it. You can look out through its vast windows and see nothing but 40 miles of pastures and pine-covered hills. You can soak in a hot tub on the deck on a frosty winter night and see more stars than you can remember ever being in the sky before. Inside, surrounded by rich woodwork and custom furniture, warmed by a log fire and hostess Dianna Mitzner's delicious food, with a grand piano to play, a library to browse in and an eclectic art collection to admire, you'll feel pampered within an inch of your life. If you seek creative inspiration, fine trout fishing or just some time away from it all, head for Woodfords and this unique retreat! --Michael Harris, Los Angeles Times"Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: After traveling and living abroad, I settled in to Kyle's Cabin to raise my son in this incredible natural setting and welcoming community. He is grown and off on his own world adventures. While I still love travel, I am so happy to share this California secret place and have the world come to me. Meeting so many lovely people from all walks of life has been a great joy.
Why the Owner Chose Markleeville:
California has been called one of the most uniquely diverse geographies on the planet. One European guest said California is so perfect it is a scandal! Lucky indeed are we who live here and can enjoy the proximity of some of the continent's highest peaks, pristine waters, and gorgeous deserts. Within minutes, we are also in the highest concentration of ski-resorts and mountain lakes and trails. We are close to everything but out of the fray. Quiet. Peaceful.
