This cozy lake cabin is nestled in the hills within one of Lake Whitney's most beautiful scenic areas near Rocky Creek on the Bosque County side. This is the perfect weekend place to spend time getting caught up with family, friends, or that special "someone".

Lake Whitney has been officially recognized as the "Getaway Capital of Texas". Lake Whitney is often compared to a Texas Hill Country lake, but, without all the lake traffic and overbuilt lake shores.

Lake Whitney's 23,500 surface acres of clear blue water and 225 miles of shoreline are sure to satisfy a broad variety of interests for those with recreational interest or just "getting away".

Our cabin's South West lakeshore location means easy access from the I-35 corridor and SH 22. Our location is less than a 90 minute drive from most DFW metroplex locations, under an hour from Waco, and no more than 2 hours from Austin. Better yet we are within a short drive to RedCaboose Winery in Meridian, Waco's New Mammoth Park, The Dr. Pepper Museum, mountain biking at Waco's Cameron Park which is "nationally recognized", Clifton's historical downtown, and much more!

The cabin is fully-equipped with everything you might need to include: 1 queen bed, 1 double bed, 1 single bed, 1 kids bed, and a large sofa sleeper (6 total person maximum limit - 4 adult max or 4 child max). We include all linens as well coffee for your early morning wakeup! If you plan on bringing your pet along, there is a large fenced yard in the back. A house broken pet is allowed inside (1 small/medium "non-agressive breed" / E-MAIL OWNER PET DETAILS).

Come enjoy the full length patio where conversations are a brewing in the rock'n chairs or enjoy reading a good book in the outside country breeze. There is a screened in porch with tables and chairs to have an outside lunch or dinner (don't forget to ring the brass "dinner" bell when the meals a coming!)

We have also included an inside and outside CD Player with multi-artist CD's for your listening pleasure. We also provide a good assortment of DVD's as well books to enjoy during your stay.

If you like to keep active or need to have the little ones keep'n busy, here are a few recreational items that we have provided at NO ADDITIONAL COST!

HIKING:
*You can access several miles of hiking trails just down below the cabin. Feel free to walk in either direction with lake access available in multiple points of entry. Be sure to have good shoes should you decide to climb down one of the various canyons for a little cave exploration or try jumping over the running creek!

One of our family favorites is to go hiking at nighttime with our flashlights when the critters come out!

CANOEING:
*You can take out the provided 3 seat canoe down to the lake for exploration or up many of the lakeshore coves. You won't believe the waterfalls and lime-stone caves that you'll find along the edges! Be sure to bring your camera as proof. The canoe can be hand carried down to the lake by two (2) adults. ADULT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED AND LIFE JACKETS ARE MANDATORY.

Don't worry as we have provided life jackets to include: 2 small children, 2 youth for 50-90 lbs, 2 medium adults, and 1 large/extra large adult. Don't forget to bring the ores that are located inside the game room closet. LIFE JACKETS ARE MANDATORY.

FISHING:
*Feel free to use the provided fishing poles and go fish with the kids! Our suggestion would be to use a hook with a slip weight above the hook with a bobber about 1-2 feet up the line.

We have provided the fishing gear to get started. If you want to land the "big" fish, you can stop at any of the local general stores and purchase some live worms, frozen shad, frozen shrimp, or just use a piece of hot dog.

Locations for fishing are easily found in either walking direction. When you catch that "big" fish, feel free to use the cleaning board that is hung inside the game room.

GAME ROOM:
*Have fun in the outside game room that has been stocked with a quality air-hockey table, electronic dart-board, a sleeping cot with checkers(in case you need a little nap!), badminton, and other activities.

The exterior window shutters open up to allow a nice breeze inside during the hot summer months. We have installed a new light inside for use during evening hours. Have fun!

OUTSIDE GAS GRILL / OUTSIDE FIRE PIT:
*Pull up some chairs and enjoy the evening with our outside fire pit (firewood is provided on the patio). PLEASE DO NOT USE IF A BURN BAN IS IN EFFECT. Turn on the gas grill and get those steaks on or that "big" fish catch, nice and cooked!

HORSE-SHOE PIT:
*Take a throw in our horse-shoe pit! This is a game of skill where many hours can be spent bonding with fellow friends and family members. Remember the rules: 3 points a ringer, 2 points a leaner, and 1 point for the closest shoe. First to get 21 points is declared the winner!

Most of all, our cabin has been designed for "family" style fun that we hope your family will enjoy as much as ours does. Please relax and leave your stress behind as we expect you'll have as much fun ever at Lake Whitney!

We'll see ya soon!

Lake Whitney - Updated Cabin with Water Access and Hiking!

Year Purchased: 2007

Why the Owner Chose Lake Whitney

We looked for almost 2 years for the perfect weekend lake cabin. The reason we chose this cabin was the unique features of Lake Whitney with the large limestone cliffs and canyons which are spectacular as well the adjacent land owned by the Army Core of Engineer that gives us a natural setting for hiking the surrounding woods and walking the canyon floors in search of fossils.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Sometimes just relaxing on the front porch and taking it easy is perfect. We enjoy cooking on the outside grill and gathering the family around for an outdoor dinner while the wives usually open a good bottle of wine while the men share their college day stories.... We enjoy the dryer climate in which you will see roadrunners, deer, cardinals, racoons, squirrels, sparrows, Texas tarantulas, native live oak, cactus, mountain cedar (juniper), and more.

Great Relaxing Weekend enjoying the great outdoors with hiking and campfire with smores

Guest: Sherry (Grand Prairie, TX)
Date of Stay: 01/13/12 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

I was pleasantly surprised as I walked into the cabin. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, plently of silverware, plates, bowls and utencils. The dishwasher worked great and it was really nice having a full size refrigerator and freezer (with ice) for the weekend. We bought all our food and stayed right there all weekend long. We cooked hot dogs by the fire pit for lunch twice and smores each night inside the cabin since it got really cold at night. The indoor wood buring stove was something we had never experienced before. We watched a movie each evening from the DVD library at the cabin. The large living room carpet area was great for playing board games that are also supplied. The game room was a lot of fun for my girls. My 11 year old said her arm was a little sore from playing, "ski Ball". That's what she called it. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets for cold January nights. The bedroom was a lot bigger than the pictures. Our favorite part was the hiking and sitting around the fire pit. The back yard area is huge with trees and trails. It is really a nice relaxing escape from the busy work schedule. It was fun crossing over streams and seeing the cliffs and beautiful views. We went fishing twice with the poles and gear that was supplied. It was nice having that already supplied. The water was so clear that we could see the carp swimmng around in the water. We fed the geese and ducks. I have a teenage daughter and I never heard her say she was bored. There was always something to do, somewhere to explore. Bryan was so easy to work with. He went out of his way to make sure everything was ready for the weekend. Everything was clear with towels and linens, even shampoo. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away and relax with your family.

Great place with tons to do!

Date of Stay: 09/09/11 Review Submitted: 09/15/11

We just got back from a weekend at the cabin and had a great time. Between the air hockey table, the dart board, checkers and all the board games we had a lot of fun things to do. The horseshoe pit is nice and the outside landscaping makes you feel like you are one with nature. The cabin itself was very nice and of course the kayaks were a blast(we didn't use the canoe but it looked nice and big). The owner was very helpful and accomodating and treated me more like a friend than a client. I would highly recommend this cabin to stay for your Lake Whitney vacation!

Great lake house!

Guest: albevavo (Richardson, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/23/11

My husband and I stayed here in June and loved it! It's the perfect lake house - great location, very homey, cute and comfortable and with everything you need/want for a fun getaway. It was well stocked with dishes, soap, shampoo, etc., which makes things convenient, and very clean. Nice neighborhood, and great for exploring and getting to the lake. There are two trails at the back of the property that lead to Corps land and a nice cove -- it's a very pretty part of the lake. We only used one of the four beds, but it was comfortable and we slept very well. Bryan was really nice to work with and keeps this place in excellent condition. Nice screened in porch and a fenced back yard, and a side yard with a grill and outdoor table so you can eat outside when the weather's nice. The A/Cs also worked well, which is crucial in the summer! This was our first time to Lake Whitney. We liked it so much, and it's such an easy drive from D/FW, we decided to buy a place of our own! But if we hadn't, we would stay here every time. Thanks, Bryan!

Great family spring break vacation!

Guest: Gulf Coast Folks (League City, TX)
Date of Stay: 03/13/11 Review Submitted: 03/21/11

We just returned from our spring break at the cabin and what fun we had! We visited Dinosaur Valley, Fossil Rim Wildlife Park and the Waco Mammoth site and zoo. All of our choices were wonderful! We especially enjoyed driving around at dusk and viewing the deer! We want to thank you for the use of your cabin. We were a little bummed about the burn ban and not being able to have a fire, but we did break down and use the indoor fireplace our last night, so the kids were absolutely satisfied with that! We even roasted marshmallows indoors! The cabin was just as you described and had every amenity that we could have wanted or needed. What a wonderful way to spend a relaxing vacation with our family. Thanks again!!
