Bat Cave has 400 people, No RedLights, 2 Stop Signs, No Town, No Grocery Store (is 8 miles away) 2 Bridges & 1 Post Office.
Bat Cave is like the old Route 66 it was the Old Traders Trail in the 1800s from Asheville to Charlotte & Columbia until the Interstate system was developed. It had a Horse Exchange & the only drinking spot on the route. We are at the cross roads of 64, 74 & 9. A 2 lane nice paved road now.
This is truly a classic. This home was built back in the early 30's, and you will enjoy it's character. Was the first BAT CAVE POST OFFICE. With a newly modern kitchen featuring granite counter tops and all modern ammenities. We also kept the old time feeling in the home which allows you to get back to the good life that is easy, relaxing and peaceful. The complete inside of the home has rough cut pine boards on all ceilings and walls just as it was when it was built so long ago.
Seating on the private back deck accommodates up to 12 people, and makes for a lot of fun. The 6 person hot tub was installed April of 2008 on the deck just above the river.
You sleep at night with the peacefulness of the flowing river and the 4 foot waterfall right behind the home. The view is breath taking in all directions.
Trout fishing is a lot of fun with a river stocking taking place once a week. Only 1/8th of a mile north and 1/0th of a mile south, you are sure to enjoy the catch of the day, hopfully for all to see. Personal steps that lead to the river are for our guests with the brand new decks on each level. We recommend water shoes for everyone to wear.

While looking for a place to stay with my girlfriend this Valentines weekend, I never would of thought of staying in a place called "Bat Cave". But now I am so glad we did! The house was great, alot of history, spectacular views, and its gorgeous on the inside. The kitchen was amazing, great hot tub on the deck right above the river, staring up at the stars! The pictures do no justice, believe me. I live at the beach, but love mountains and rivers most of all. You cant ask to be in a better spot if you love those too. I had a permanent smile the whole time I was up there!! Its only a short 1 mile or so drive along the river and rock faced mountains, through a tiny historic town which leads you right to chimney rock, and keep going another mile, and your right at Lake Lure. Cant beat the area, and I'm still surprised at how nice the people are everywhere up there. Even the supermarket in lake Lure was gorgeous. We took a 20 min drive to Hendersonville one night for dinner, and you have to eat at the "Flat Rock Wood Room". I was amazed how good the wood fired pizza and BBQ was, which i'm extremely picky about, and amazing staff too. We took a ride to Asheville, which was a gorgeous ride in itself (40 mins) and got on the Blue Ridge parkway from there. (which mostly was closed, so check before you go) All i have to say is I was sad to leave, but so excited I found a future place to return. I will be back for sure, hopefully during trout season. Thanks again to the owners Bruce & Marion for making it possible, and for the hospitality. They are very nice people, who will make you feel comfortable upon meeting them, and give you your privacy while there. I will be seeing you again soon! Thank you Bruce and Marion! We had a fabulous time in your home! The kitchen is gorgeous and fun for all of us to cook in or just sit at the island and socialize. The living room is very spacious, enough room for all four adults plus three children to hang out comfortably! All three bedrooms are large and comfortable. The hot tub on the deck is amazing, as is the river below. Bruce and Marion are wonderful - very friendly and hospitable. We could not have asked for a better experience. Had the best time and was made to feel like I had a home there the house was way more than I ever could have dreamed it would be the owners treat you like family, so very downhome feeling the house was so delightful I am a customer for life and with the owners being so great I am so happy I had the chance to meet and become friends with them, words do not express my graditude I will always be booking a stay here whenever I know I am going to come near, it is the best place I know of to find all the things you ncould ever ask for in a stayRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

Spent a week at the cabin with my family. It was perfect. My grandson lived the river. It had something for all of us. Bruce and Marion are wonderful. We fell in love with bat cave a would love to move there. We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of June 2012 and had a wonderful break!!! The cabin is perfect and the location even better! Plenty to keep the more active among you occupied, whilst at the same time providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I would definitely return here! 10 out of 10 :-) Heaven really IS a place on earth!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Three friends and myself rented this cottage back in February as a short get away from school. We had an amazing time! The hot tub is excellent and the house is SO much bigger than we expected! The Bat Cave area is absolutely perfect for groups of friends of families with kids, especially in the summer when the river and Lake Lure are open. We will definitely be returning in the near future. You could not find a better place to rent!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Bat Cave River Cottages. All the amenities were excellent. Loved the kitchen and deck overlooking the river. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were conveniently close by, and Bruce and Marion Baker excellent to work with. We will be coming back again. The Bruce and Marion were genuinely hospitable, and eager to help with anything. The property and hot tub were immaculate. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. Location is fabulous on the river, and a quick ride into the Chimney Rock community for a great lunch! Shopping in Hendersonville and at Biltmore Park made this a great spot for our retreat weekend!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had a nice, relaxing holiday weekend. We needed sometime away and this was a great place to do that. We drove into Ashville and did some shopping. Got in the water and sadly lost our Golden's favorite ball; don't worry she got a new one and was happy again :-)Recommended for: Pet owners.

Staying at Bat Cave was a new experience for us. The house was the perfect vacation spot to keep us all entertained. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and on the back porch. Bruce and Marion could not have been more helpful. They are perfect for that business. I would highly recommend it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, sightseeing.
