We truly enjoyed our stay at Bat Cave River Cottages. All the amenities were excellent. Loved the kitchen and deck overlooking the river. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were conveniently close by, and Bruce and Marion Baker excellent to work with. We will be coming back again. Thanks for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

The Bruce and Marion were genuinely hospitable, and eager to help with anything. The property and hot tub were immaculate. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. Location is fabulous on the river, and a quick ride into the Chimney Rock community for a great lunch! Shopping in Hendersonville and at Biltmore Park made this a great spot for our retreat weekend!

We had a nice, relaxing holiday weekend. We needed sometime away and this was a great place to do that. We drove into Ashville and did some shopping. Got in the water and sadly lost our Golden's favorite ball; don't worry she got a new one and was happy again :-)
Owner response: I don't understand a rating of #4 these must be automatic computer read, SADLY lost the ball the River will take what you don't hold on to. Wish i could have saved it but i see them float by all the time. Ididn't see anything negative in this review. SORRY Bruce, Owner Operated

Staying at Bat Cave was a new experience for us. The house was the perfect vacation spot to keep us all entertained. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and on the back porch. Bruce and Marion could not have been more helpful. They are perfect for that business. I would highly recommend it!
Owner response:It was great having Beth, Robert & the boys enjoy the river and do a little (River Rock Art) that is still standing after a big rain & just relaxing in the river & Mtn. biking. Hope it was all we had promised. Bruce & Marion Owners

I found this place on VRBO while just browsing for a different type of vacation this year. We have always gone to the beach and I just wanted to try something different. My husband loves fishing and mountains...I did it for him as I really didn't think I would enjoy it a whole lot. Boy, was I wrong! I am in love with this place and these people! What character the house has! I only wish it could talk and share it's stories! I don't think I've ever felt more at home on vacation. The hot tub was wonderful, my 12 year old loved it..she now says she likes the mt.s more than the beach! She and her friend statyed in the river 80% of the time, the remaining 20% was spent in the hot tub. The den is like a cozy haven, so quiet and relaxing. Everyone saw the mink but me :o( maybe next trip. Didn't want to leave...but will definitely return!
Owner response: It is always a pleasure to meet and see new people have a great time enjoying the river & the peacefull area we have to offer! Hope to be neighbors soon! Thanks Again! Bruce & Marion

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the river. This much needed mini vacation gave us a very memorable and romantic trip before MP leaves to go overseas! We had an excellent time and enjoyed the peace and serenity of the river. Cabin was in great condition, very clean and very comfortable - Hot tub was amazing. Our two dogs had a blast in the river as did we. Highly recommended and very close to several amenities. Chimney rock and Lake Lure are just around the corner. Bruce & Marion were great to work with and provided excellent service. Thanks for the great memories - I am sure we will see you again soon!!
Owner response: It was an honor to be able to provide a getaway for anyone headed overseas that will provide services to protect our Country the U.S.A. Good Luck! Patrick. " We Thank You Now " Bruce & Marion Baker Owner Operated

This quaint mountain cabin was perfect for my wife and I, and our other couple friends. It was roomy and clean as a pin. Loved the game room and the hot tub was awesome. The owner was wonderful. We had few needs, but when we called Bruce he was right there every time to help. The cabin is strategically located to many spots to visit and see. The river right behind the cabin is beautiful and the sound affects are wonderful. We hated to leave and can easily recommend this cabin for any couple with or without kids. Thanks for the hospitality Bruce and sharing this wonderful cabin with us.
Owner response: It was great to see friends enjoy the cabin as much as they did, Hope you enjoyed the fishing. Thanks Again! Bruce & Marion Owners

Thank you Bruce and Marion for allowing us to experience your beautiful rental. Amazing views, super clean home, very accommodating. My husband and I came up with our two teen kids for spring break. Not having traveled to North Carolina in the past, Marion and Bruce were very helpful in guiding us to the many amazing places in the area to experience. Horseback riding in the mountains, river kayaking in Green River, climbing Chimney Rock, and relaxing on their back deck overlooking the river, sitting in an amazing hot tub. It just doesn't get any better. Thanks again!!!!
Owner response:It was a pleasure seeing Suzi Craig & the boys enjoying the raft in the river. I would also like to Thank You for leaving it so clean & the nice review. Thank You! Bruce & Marion

We came to Chimney Rock for our anniversary & decided to venture a little out of town to find a private romantic palce to stay. Just 2 miles up the road we found "The Bat Cave Cottages" & what an AMAZING find!!! It was everything we were looking for & more!! It is romantic, private, relaxing, clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, luxurious, & FUN!! We truly enjoyed every minute we spent there! We relaxed in the hot tub checking out the views from the deck, snuggled & played board games near the fire, got in touch with our inner child in the game room, cooked a few yummy meals in the gourmet kitchen, & fell a sleep listening to the river. Bruce & Marion (the owners) are wonderful & kind people who made us feel right at home. This place has everything you need & want while on vacation! There is so much to see & do in that area that it makes "The Bat Cave Cottages" the PERFECT palce to celebrate any occasion, any season for couples, families, & friends!!!! We are already planning our next trip back!
Owner response:Thomas & Rena were a great young couple just trying to have an Affordable & Memoriable weekend, I think we fulfilled that for them & wish them the Best of Luck in what ever the future brings. Thank You! for picking *Bat Cave River Cottages* Bruce & Marion Owner Operated

We spent an amazing Thanksgiving weekend on the River. We decided to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner and we did not want for anything. Bruce and Marion's home literally possessed everything one could possibly need or want to prepare a holiday meal! Furthermore, the home is centrally located, so we were able to enjoy an afternoon trip to Chimney Rock (I recommend the climb to Exclamation Point!) and a day trip to Asheville for shopping. The remaining days we spent lounging around the fireplace, hot tub and taking in the beautiful sounds of the rushing river. This is a true gem. Do not pass this up.
Owner response: Colette, Thanks for a great review i ask all renters to read them and it is always better to hear from a previous renter! Hope to see you again, Thank You! Bruce & Marion

Throroughly enjoyed our week of vacation (August 2010) in your cottage. We managed to get to Chimney Rock, enjoyed a day at Lake Lure with the pontoon boat tour and "beach"..., The Biltmore, a day of hiking through the mountains exploring several waterfalls, Grandfather Mountain, Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls and just rambling through the winding mountain roads and the little shops down the road. Didn't get time to enjoy the hot tub or game room and didn't get down to use the raft but did enjoy sitting on the porch watching and listening to the water and the heron who visited daily. Bruce and Marion were great hosts who have stocked the house with just about everything you might need (and offered to provide anything that wasn't). Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else but their place if we get a chance to go back to the area. It was so nice to be able to bring both our miniature dauschunds and not have to worry about them. Thank you for a great week! Sure was hard to leave!
Owner response:I told Harry & Rachel they acted like a couple of Teenagers Sleep till Noon --GONE till Early Morning. It was a pleasure seeing them Enjoy there self so much. They had it planned to a T what they wanted to do & they did it. Hope to see you again!

This was an impromptu trip, 3 couples met up for the weekend, and had a ball! Some of us came in Hot Rod cars, and we missed the place & the car ran hot. I called Bruce and he was so great & offered to bring us water if needed or tools. We just turned the car off for a few minutes and everything was ok & turned around & found the place with Bruce on the phone giving directions. The house was great had everything you would need. The hot tub on the deck over looking the river was awesome! The raft tied off in the river was even better. I mean what better way to spend a hot day in the summer. I think the kid came out in all of us! Bruce & Marion gave us all kinds of info on the area. Hope to get back on the motorcycles and let them lead us on some of those back roads they told us about! We are planning another trip with the entire family. Thanks, Calvin & Regina Taylor Perry & Perry Bishop Herbie & Sibbie Lowery
Owner response:It was GREAT to see the whole Gang enjoying the River as much as we do, And the Cars had People pulling off the side of the road having there Pictures taken with them! Sorry we were already reserved for the other weekend you wanted but i am sure we will be seeing you again and show you some sights. If we can get you out of the river! But i do understand it is SO MUCH FUNNNN!!!

Bruce and Marion are wonderful hosts! The 1930's post office is wonderfully restored. It is comfortable and quaint. The river is beautiful and the float Bruce has tied in the middle makes it easy to get from one side of the river to the other without getting wet. Attention to detail every step of the way. The cabin is located within minutes of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and a short drive to the Biltmore House. We also enjoyed the hot tub on the deck overlooking the river.
Owner response:We have been blessed to meet so many sweet and loving people who stay here at Bat Cave River Cottages. The joy we have meeting each family that comes and helping them enjoy the old lifestyle of peace and relaxation, but being close enough to what is needed if you desire to see the surrounding areas. The river is a lot of fun, and nature is great. The most important thing to Bruce and I is the fellowship that we have with those who come to visit us and the desire we have to give what is needed to help families build great memories. Thanks for coming and Gods blessings to all.

Thanks Bruce & Marion for allowing us to stay at your home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it is located in a very convenient spot. We were able to travel to many different sites from there (Chimney Rock, Smokey Mountains, Linville Caverns, etc) all of which were within a relatively short drive. We managed to get snow while we were there which was great for the kids, as they had never seen snow. We look forward to coming back up there during the Summer or Fall instead of Winter next time.

Everything was perfect.Sitting in the hot tub when it was 20 degrees out or just sitting around the fireplace.Cabin was spacious and clean and had everything you need.We liked the area very much,Can't wait to see it in the summer and take advantage of the river. Thank you Bruce and Marion you were more than kind.

A huge thanks to Bruce and Marion for providing such a wonderful place to stay in Bat Cave! Your quaint cottage on the Rocky Broad River was the perfect base of operations for our visit to North Carolina with Marc and Nancy Trowbridge from Houston. Although the rain prevented us from getting in a second round of golf and going to Chimney Rock, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area with trips to Biltmore House, Hendersonville, Downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks again for fixing the hot tub so quickly. We enjoyed that, too!
Owner response:Steve called said the Hot Tub wasn't HOT ( Had it fixed in 20 Min.! THANKS DAD for all you taught me!!

What a great time our family had at your place!. Bruce and Marion, you are both the best. You helped make our week (7/19-7/26) so much fun. The grandsons had just a great time in the river fishing, looking for minnows and whatever else they could find but they really had a blast tubbing and river skiing with Bruce. They are still talking about everything and how much fun they had with you. Thanks again for sharing your home with us. We all can't wait until we visit with you again! Love to you both! Once again had a blast....stayed in the downstairs apartment the first time and the 4 bedroom this time. Both are super nice and clean. Also had a great time riding the Pisgah Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway with Bruce and Marion Knieval. "Big Chief" was not real "excited" to see us though. Once again thanks a bunch and we will be back. Oh yeah Mrs Marion please let me know how the infamous river ski works out.
Owner response:We have enjoyed Martin and Sherri as much as they have enjoyed staying and being with us. We had a great time riding, as always, and love showing the great places that are around us here in the mountains. Once Bruce gets the "hang" of sking on the river we will shot you a picture to prove he is capable of sking the Rocky Broad River. We had a blast and look forward to the next stay and time together. Thanks for your friendship and time together, and your choice of staying with us. Bruce and Marion

My husband and I have a one month old baby and needed some rest and relaxation with him. We got it!!!! We drank coffee on the back porch in the morning and had a glass of wine in the hot tub at night, all while the baby slept. It was an added bonus to see a light dusting of snow on the river rocks one of the mornings we stayed. Our son stayed warm and cozy in the pack-n-play (with changing table) the owners let us borrow. They were wonderful and treated us like family. We were able to find activities that will entertain our son at every stage in his life...playing in the river, hiking, the water park, and Biltmore. We will be back soon. Thank you Bruce and Marion for helping two new parents get the rest and relaxation we needed!!!

My girlfriend Pam & I, along with another couple, rode up on our motorcycles and stayed at this location....FANTASTIC !!! You would never know this treasure existed from the outside but inside it's roomy, rustic, everything you want. We grilled out on the deck while watching the river flow....SO PEACEFULL. We enjoyed the hot tub later in the night and had an excellent time. The owners are the best, they even rode motorcycles with us and took us to some incredible scenic views. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!
Owner response:Al & Pam, Jimmy & Nancy were the best. We love to know our tenents and have a great time with them. This was the case there. Although we knew Pam for years, Al, Jimmy and Nancy have become friends for life. We were able to spend time with them on the bikes and show them places that we have found through the years living in the area. We will be glad to have them back anytime, with open arms. Thanks you guys for making our time just as enjoyable!!!
