Our cottage in the forest is a private hideaway, perfect vacation rental for individuals who cherish their privacy and would like a clean, well lighted place to stay. It’s located behind a home occupied by two adults and friendly pets, nestled in the upper Del Monte Forest in famous Pebble Beach, California, only minutes away from World Class Golf Courses; Poppy Hills, Spyglass and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
We love it here and love sharing the unique charm and quiet forest atmosphere. Best of all, we are only minutes away from Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pacific Grove, Monterey, and Big Sur where you can enjoy some of the most incredible activities such as golfing, nature hiking, sailing, kayaking, whale watching, bicycle riding, shopping, horse back riding, antique shopping, bird watching, and wine tasting. Enjoy walking on the romantic coastline, visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the surrounding National and State parks, and so much more!

"To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we decided to return to the "scene of the crime", the Monterey peninsula, where we married at the Carmel Mission in October 1988. After considering all our options in Carmel, Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, we decided on the Cottage in the Forest. Best decision we could have made!
Sheila and Peggi were gracious and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They had stocked the cottage with an assortment of goodies & a nice bottle of congratulatory wine. The cottage itself is cozy and quiet - a nice change from impersonal hotel rooms on busy streets.
As avid cyclists, we were eager to get out & ride the 17 Mile Dr., which is conveniently located just a couple blocks away. The ride was so breathtaking, we had to do it again (and again), and eventually rode over to the Monterey Wharf area where we rested on a bluff while the otters entertained. If you like to bicycle, the cottage is ideally situated; ride in one direction to Monterey, turn the other way and you're off to Carmel. Either way is fronted by some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. And when you arrive back at the cottage, there's a nice sunny deck for relaxing & resting weary legs.

"Cottage in the Forest was a perfect place to spend our honeymoon. The beautiful cottage was peaceful and private which was perfect for spending time alone.
Sheila and Peggi were wonderful hostesses who greeted us enthusiastically and were willing to help us in anyway we needed. They were also sensitive enough to know and give us our privacy for this special occasion. When not enjoying the cottage we were able to enjoy a variety of activities such as a day long trip into San Francisco , drives along the coast, Carmel , 17 mile drive, Cannery Row, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Thank you Sheila for the free tickets!).

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Cottage in the Forest complete with a swing and a little dog named Prince that sniffed his way into our hearts. The owners were fantastic, and actually took us on a tour of the area upon our arrival, and treats!!!. Oh yea, little gourmet cheeses, wine and organic coffee awaited us when we stepped into our quaint cottage.
