If your interested in spending a few days or week just relaxing and enjoying the sounds of nature, this is a wonderful place to getaway. Necessary amenities provided, clean and the owners treat you as a family member. Conveniently located to major attractions but positioned so that you feel you're in the wilderness, a hundred miles away from civilization. Late April was a great time to visit. Very little crowds and weather ideal. Would serioulsy recommend to family members, and close friends. Just the right place to spend time with family and be carefree with no responsibilities.

My son, daughter and their friends and our pitbull rescue Quince spent a wonderful Easter weekend at the Bat River Cottages. Bruce and Marion are wonderful hosts, and the 3 br cabin, with it's expansive deck and gorgeous views was a great place to start and finish the day. We made use of every moment and the weather was great; the "kids" got to play in the river and everything was it was described on the website. Thank you, Bruce and Marion, for a memorable Easter!

If you want the full Bat Cave experiance STAY HERE! This has it all. Even if you just want to relax and rest your mind. Try sitting on the deck overlooking the river and listening to the sounds of the water tumbling over the rocks accompanied by the ever present fresh mountain air breeze. Then you can look up and start adding up the different birds, bats, minks, otters etc. That live here for free. It was truly a wonderful experiance my wife and I stayed here for 5 days and did everything. This is one of those places you feel so comfortable while here. The accomodations were excellent, Bruce and Marion will take care of anything you need on a moments notice. Everything is clean and modern. If you are looking for a great place to stay and relax this is it.
Owner response:John P. & Barbara will be friends for life we had a connection that Life is GOOD! Got that Driftwood you wanted when the river went down. Thank You Bruce & Marion Owner Operated

This cabin was very lovely! We had a spectacular time and really enjoyed the hot tub! I would definitely recommend this to others, especially in the winter when it's less crowded. We would have liked more kitchen supplies (like pans, cookie sheets, etc.) but we were able to make-do with no problem! The owners are warm and wonderful and very helpful. Though we didn't have our pets with us, the pet friendly option is a definite perk!! Overall, very happy with our weekend getaway!
Owner response:We went & checked on the pots & pan situation, Found 7 diff. size pots w/lids, 1-16qt crab boil pot, 3 large Pizza pans, 2 large Cookie sheets, 3 Frying pans, We always say need anything call we are close. Perfection is our Destination!

We were here from 11/23-11/26, over the Thanksgiving holidays. It was a special 40th birthday treat for me! The owners were very nice and accomodating. It was like a home away from home, but better. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure right down the street, and just a little drive away, and we were able to hit to see the beautiful Catawba Falls for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the DirectTV for football, lounged in the hot tub every night, and relaxed in the cozy living room with the fireplace. Having the running river right outside the door was so tranquil, we even got to see an otter at play! This is definitely a wonderful place to stay. Thank you for the hospitality!!
Owner response:The Otter & Mink love to play in the swimming hole just below the rear deck by the waterfall & fork of 2 rivers. EVERY TIME i see them i think how BLESSED HUCK FINN was just laying on a river bank under a tree ( No fence to paint TODAY? ) Happy 40th! Bruce & Marion Owner Operated

We had a great time at Bruce and Marion's cabin. It was pretty chilly that weekend, so we took full advantage of the hot tub on the back deck, enjoying nature right from the nice warm hottub overlooking the river, even in the morning when the temp was in the 30's! We also enjoyed making our own little bonfires and roasting marshmallows at night. And we cooked out on the grill both nights! All these things you just can't do in a hotel or most rentals. The location was great, a short drive from Lake Lure (where we very much enjoyed the pizza and views at La Strada) and the shops at Chimney Rock(the ice cream place was really fun and nostalgic). Bruce and Marion were great and so hospitable! You can tell they've put so much work into this place, i.e. updated fixtures, granite countertops...Perfect for a couple or small family!
Owner response: We always enjoy hearing about renters enjoying a fire less than 2ft. from the river edge as they said you can't get that in a hotel room. Thanks for your review.

My wife and I just spent two wonderful nights at Bruce and Marion's Bat Cave River Cottage - it was wonderful. The river was great to swim in, relax on, and pass out on the deck next to. Hot tub is perfect after a day hiking Chimney Rock. Really nice chairs on the deck. Super comfy Tempur-pedic mattress on the bed. Everything was great! It's also nice being a little bit out of the way from the center of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock - and it's still a really quick drive to both places. Definitely recommended!
Owner response:Bryan & Kira We are glad you enjoyed yourself Hope all the stops on the way home were as good, Thanks for the great review! Bruce & Marion

We will definitely be returning to Bat Cave River Cottages for many years to come! Thanks Bruce and Marion for such a wonderful weekend!

A friend and I were out driving and checking out the scenery of the Chimney Rock area and decided, on a whim, to find a room for the night to relax and enjoy the evening. I happened across the Inn and this was the last room available--after speaking with the owner and seeing the room I booked for the night and found it, by far, one of the most comfortable, relaxing, and overall peaceful places I have ever stayed in (I travel for work and essentially live in hotels so to me this says a great deal)...I had a leisurely dinner at the cafe' table on the back deck (prepared on the wonderfully provided gas grill) of flounder and rice then enjoyed the hot tub overlooking the babbling river before finally relaxing in front of a fire and watching a movie. I think my only complaint was the lack of shampoo etc. in the bathroom--fotunately there is a very nice Ingles Market a short drive away...I personally would rent this as a permanent apartment if I could but will be back in the very near future for an extended stay! Andrew
Owner response: I am sorry Andrew didn't ask for some Shampoo i am sure we could have helped him out. I do tell guest's if you need anything DO NOT HESITATE to call the office phone number. We furnish everything but Bath Soap & Shampoo or Food & Drink most people that stay are planning on spending the night. I apologize for maybe forgetting to ask. I do inform renters who make reservations in advance. But i do thank you for the nice review & glad to hear you would be glad to rent as a permanent place to live. Will be glad to see you again anytime. Thanks Again Bruce & Marion

My husband and I rented this place for our 16th wedding anniversary. This place is private, quiet, clean and serene. This was the perfect location for us to put our marriage back on track and rededicate our lives to each other. My husband and I both walked away renewed people. This place was far enough away from the hussle and bussle of it all, but not too far away from the necessities. We are already planning another trip with the children this summer and we plan to rent the 3 bedroom next door then. Thank you so much to Bruce and his wife.
Owner response: We were glad to see John & Ruthie enjoy them self''s 10 min. after check in i wanted to tell him fishing season didn't start till the 1st Sat. of April & Ruthie was already in the HOT TUB that had to be a NEW RECORD. Before they arrived i asked what temp she wanted it set at, It was ready to go! We do want to thank you for the nice review & i am sure we will see you again!

Thank you Mr. Bruce and Ms. Marion for an absolutely wonderful stay! We stayed for 7 nights in June. It really shows how well you take care of this place. What a great modern apartment and large outside deck to enjoy a mountain visit. A relaxing spell in the hot tub was just perfect way to unwind before bed. We very much enjoyed our visit, as well as your helpfulness and hospitality. We may see you again in the future! For perspective renters: You can reserve your stay with confidence. The cabin is as described and more! Cabin is perfect for a couple, or a small family.
Owner response:It is always a joy to see a young couple & children experience the mountain river what we have to offer for a great vacation. The Bats, Ducks, Covered rear Deck, & dont forget the tied off StingRay Raft that will put you to sleep rolling in the middle of the river! Thank You for such a nice review!

I can't say enough. My children and I stayed with the Bakers from Sunday until Friday in July 2008 and it wasn't nearly long enough. I tease that I won't be back to visit because I am moving in. Oh, how I wish I could. The kids loved playing in the river and on the raft, fishing, and crawdad hunting during the day. The hot tub, bats and TV kept them entertained after dark. I enjoyed reading and napping on the deck. The Bakers were so attentive to our needs and a real joy to visit with. They are treasures and a blessing. As a single mom, I felt so comfortable and safe tucked away in their little piece of heaven on earth. We will be back over and over again!

We have really enjoyed the mountains and the river and we just want to share with all that come and stay with us a time of fun, adventure and rest from their busy lives. Too cool! The management team are super people that accomodate all your needs. The cabin is absolutely fabulous! Lounging on the deck while hearing the rapids below gives such an easy, peace feeling. At night, I would open the windows to hear the rapids and fell fast asleep from the sound of water flowing... so relaxing. The cabin is also convenient to all of the attractions; shopping, hiking, biking, gift shops, Blowing Rock Mtn, etc. I will definitely recommend this place to all of my friend and relatives. Thanks so much guys for letting us be a part of your family!!!!
Owner response:Pam was one to get in the water with the 6 man raft, a cooler, and just relax the hole time she was her. She parked the car and the only time she wanted to leave was to go home. She loved that Ingles added a store in Lake Lure, so on the way in they got what they needed and were able to relax after they arrived. Her daughter brought a friend and they played in river on the tubs, going down the rapids over and over again. They brought their computer games and we hooked it up to the TV for them and they were set at night time for more fun. What a time they had and it was a lot of fun watching them really enjoy the river. The 3bedroom 2 bath gave them all the room they needed to relax and enjoy!

We went for a weekend getaway and got much more than we bargained for with this rental. It was very relaxing. The hot tub on the back deck was the perfect ending to our nights. Listening to the water roll by in the creek below was just peaceful. It makes you feel like you are miles away from reality. The house is kept immaculate by the owners who are always just a phone call away if any questions come up. This was a great vacation spot and recommendable rental. We will be back soon!
Owner response:Cheri and her friends had a lot of fun and they loved the hot tub at night and the shops during the day. They said they loved that they could cook in or could go out and everything was close for them. They want to came back during the summer months with their motorcycles. They said having a group and splitting the costs of the 3/2 made it nice to have a great time to get away and was not too expensive on the budget. We will welcome them back anytime
