I was skeptical on renting a house over the interent without having seen the actual house first. To my joy the advertisement was exactly what it said it was and more. There were 4 of us on our trip and everyone of us wishes we could have stayed longer. The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pool and verandas were great and the beach was great. I will never again want to stay in a resort after this wonderful house. Reuben is the greatest and very helpful. He sent information to us ahead of time as to where to go and what to do I would recommend this to everyone. Wish I could be there permanently.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Ruben's home on the Atlantic is in a beautiful location, well-appointed, and was just perfect for our little family of three. We had a wonderful time exploring the beach, lagoon, and local towns. Ruben met us at the house the first night, showed us around, and made us feel quite welcome. Since it was dark when we arrived, we were in for quite a shock when we woke up the next morning to the beach and rocks behind the house! We were there for three full days and only saw six other people on the beach the whole time. The beach, coupled with the pool and verandas, were the perfect place for us to unwind and disconnect. While we were there we visited the Arecibo Observatory, which was a nice drive up into the hills from the house, and one night we went to Salitre, just down the road, for dinner. It was excellent, and we would certainly recommend it. The best mussels I've ever eaten, and the waitstaff worked very hard to accommodate for our broken Spanish. AOP definitely gets our seal of approval! We hope to come back and visit very soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

From the moment we confirmed our reservation my family of 5 felt as if we were family. The home is extremely well equipped, is very safe and private. The gorgeous ocean is just in the backyard with nice waves for boogie boards or a lagoon or rocks to explore. The quiet town and pool were very relaxing, yet driving around the island for sight seeing was simple. We fly into San Juan, rented a car and followed the perfect directions to the beach house. We loved the time we had and look forward to coming back to AOP very soon. Thank you for opening your home to us.Owner response: Thank you! Having wonderful guests like you is what makes the holiday-home rental so rewarding, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The drive along the road to the property was relaxing and beautiful until we finally arrived and saw this amazing oceanfront home. We were already in love! As we were walking through the home with Ruben and Maria; our granddaughters were running up and down claiming their room. They tested every lawn chair every swing chair and the hammocks. You could hear them rattling on about the beach, and the pool as we were walking through the home. Just to let anyone who has teenage girls know, this is a dream home for their never ending entertainment. This house was perfect in every way. The rooms were great, the panoramic views were amazing. The lazy walks we took along the beach were amazing, Our favorite thing to do, was sitting listening to the waves break along the shore in the late evening, pure heaven! To pay a compliment to this home seems too little payment for the peaceful magical time we were able to have. Ruben and Maria, we can't wait to return to your home which we gladly call our home for seven stress free days. We had a fantastic time and anyone who is lucky enough to stay in this very lovely home will for sure share our opinion. Thank you again for a peaceful magical vacation at AOP. Angel, Audrey, Keishla, and Toni of Boynton Beach, Florida.Owner response: Thank you for your review.

We have traveled the globe and we think we found "Paradise" in Aricebo. Crete is nice, the Hawaiian Islands are nice but Aricebo is nothing like this. Its absolutely beautiful, unaffected by corporate development, its just Puerto Rico with all its glory. We spent a week and didn't see one tourist or should I say one American LOL, the locals are so friendly and kind. Ruben's home is an Oasis in the middle of this paradise, you have everything you need there, no need to even leave if you choose. He has went WAY beyond what you would ever expect from a vacation home rental owner; and he greets at the door when you arrive 5 stars to Ruben!! The Atlantic Ocean steps from your door, HUGE swimming pool, multiple BBQ's, outside amenities that will surprise you, and the home is decked out with all the comforts of your home and more.Owner response: Thank you!

Where do I begin? This is our second time renting AOP and what a wonderful place this is! We could not have asked for a better Caribbean spot to escape the harsh winter. From the moment you approach the pool you know you are in a special place! Perfect for relaxing and having a peaceful vacation.Everything you want or need is at your fingertips. Good kitchen appliances, beautiful furnishings, popcorn machine, ice-cream maker, etc. The house is very technically up to date (Led flat screens, 3d player,iPod capable, a huge collection of blue-rays and DVDs).It is is very modern, ideal for two couples, or a family w/ 2 kids. The owner has been updating the back yard, the wooden deck, landscaping, umbrellas, and the outer furnishings this time. Thank you, Ruben. Arecibo is still relatively unspoiled (although it is just a matter of time before big development kicks in) so this is a great way to taste what it would be like to live there island-style and experience the natural beauty while it's still there. I would recommend visiting AOP's site, and reading all the driving directions before your stay, so you can have an idea of the places and attractions you'd like to see way in advance. It is not a stretch to say that AOP has been our best vacation rental experience. The home itself is gorgeous. The ocean views are unmatched.Owner response: Thank you for your feed back.

My husband and I wanted to travel with another couple for our vacations, this year. It was quite a challenge for us to find a house that suited everybody’s needs and expectations. It took some time, but we finally found the place we were looking for in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Wow! What an amazing property this is. Just like the pictures. I must say my favorite view was that of the beach, from the terrace. The house is about an hour from San Juan, in a quiet and safe neighborhood with a private pool, and all sorts of amenities. It was in pristine condition when we arrived. Everything that is listed on the web site is accurate. We spent much of our time outside on the patios reading books, swimming in the pool, barbecuing, and of course, exploring the island. We also enjoyed our walks on the beach where, most of the time, we were the only ones. A sweet maid & cook worked for us twice during our stay. Thank you, Maria! I would highly recommend this beautiful home for anyone interested in having a wonderful vacation. Most of all, I would like to thank the owner, Ruben! Greetings, and best wishes to everybody looking to stay at AOP!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 14/14

This house was very well kept with modern and sophisticated decor. It was exactly as described. We felt right at home from day 1. The backyard has a panoramic vista of the ocean and the rugged cliffs. The view is to die for! The location is centric and ideal. There are many things to do nearby. It is also relaxing if one chooses to stay at the house and walk along the beach or on the walking trails in front of the property. The weather in December was a just little nippy at night, but we loved it. We didn’t have to use jackets. The house has a web site with all sorts of useful details The owner was very nice and he sent us additional information well ahead of time that was especially useful to us since we were renting for the first time. Thanks. Make sure you notify him, you are new to renting a vacation home, and he will e-mail you additional useful info. We will definitely rent holiday homes from now on. Overall, we would highly recommend it! We had a wonderful time and felt safe and secure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 15/15

I want to Thank Ruben for allowing our family to spend a week at AOP. It is the most beautiful place to stay. My husband and I stayed there with our teenage children last April. There is not one day that passes by, that we do not think about being there. We have made many family memories there that we will cherish for our lifetime, both ourselves and our children. To wake up to the ocean, to go to bed with the ocean, and also listening to the coqui, which we do miss. The house is immaculate. Everything is so clean, top of the line appliances and furnishings. We enjoyed the pool a lot. The beach was awesome and the views. There is so much more I could say about the rental property. We also rented a van, so we did some exploring on the island. We would HIGHLY recommend this place. We look forward to returning there one day soon. “Thank You” so much Ruben, for allowing us to spend time at your home. It was greatly appreciated. Owner info
Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: Professor Ruben Miranda was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He lived in the New York metropolitan area where he studied graduate studies in Applied Linguistics and ESL. He owns a School of Languages in Caguas, Puerto Rico (nslplus.com).
Why the Owner Chose Arecibo:
This house was built in the late 50's. It has been restored and updated twice since 1990, but still conserves the nostalgic appearance of bygone years. The house is VERY private and it is only 300 hundred feet from the main road. The ocean is about 75 feet from the house backyard. Dry coral cliffs surround a shallow lagoon resembling a small island off the coast. When the surf is high, it creates little waterfalls that cascade into the lagoon.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The swimming pool is located inside the house premises and it is embraced by two long verandas, a porch, a wooden deck, and a large terrace. There are two bathrooms and an outside pressure shower head. Two rocking chairs will welcome guests at the main entrance while two swing chairs and two hammocks will greet them at the beach exit.
