Olympic Mountain View with Pond - Log Cabin. Olympic Peninsula
Year Purchased: 1996
Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles
The Olympic Peninsula provides us remarkable natural scenery of almost every sort. We climb mountains, thrill at pristine glaciers and lakes in Olympic National Park and find bear, goats, deer and a variety of birds. We love to find waterfalls that few people have found and explore the rainforest mysteries summer and winter. Our children surf the waves as we explore the beaches with unusual pinnacles and formations, and we collect driftwood and bask on the white sand. We take our family picnicking on the beautiful clear rivers where they can catch Steelhead or Salmon. We watch the whales as they migrate, we marvel at the living glaciers. Every season of the year there is something to be inspired by and enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Our specialty in life has been to enjoy and appreciate nature and to help others have that passion too. And that is witnessed in our lovely property and the beautiful homes we have blended with the natural environment. For those who want privacy, we provide it. For those who want a serene and restorative Northwest experience, we provide that. Our homes are surrounded by meadows and a pond filled with fish, with majestic trees lining the edges and wildflowers. We have tried to make nature available and enjoyable out of every window and from every deck. Our hot tubs are outside so you can view the stars. You can see the Olympic Mountains in all their array from nearly every window. We want to touch people, to leave a lasting memory of enjoyment and rejuvenation, to have an infectious experience that compels them to want to pass on the importance of our natural resources to everyone.
Olympic National Park visitors' entrance is 8 miles away. Se the incredible Hurrican Ridge where you can see the glaciers in the back country wilderness and take hikes of all sorts.
Visit the State Park at Dungeness Spit, the longest sand spit in America, and find seals and otters, and all variety of birds from the area. Hike to the end of the Spit and get a free guided tour of the lighthouse and see the expansive view of Mt. Ranier and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
See the incredible tide pools at Salt Creek and Freshwater Bay County Park.
Stop in the National Park at Lake Crescent and sit by the lake and dock and see the crystal clear waters. Take the short hike through the moss covered forests to Marymere Falls.
Owner's Map of Port Angeles
Suzann and Martin are the owners and full-time managers of Olympic View Cabins. We had a vision for over 30 years of a family compound where we could live and share a beautiful natural environment with our son and daughter. We traveled to many places; the Pacific Rim, New Zealand and Canada in search of a special place. When we found 25 acres with a lovely pond and a truly Northwest Log Cabin 8 years ago on the Olympic Peninsula, it felt really right.
We lived in the Log Cabin while we renovated the property and structures. Our son designed his Compass Rose house and we all built it together. Friends helped us build our Pond Cottage. Our son and daughter got jobs in other parts of the country, and we decided to help pay for our property by renting out our homes.

This place is incredible. We came to the Olympic Peninsula to get married in the Park. When we arrived at the Log Cabin we were so impressed that we decided to get married there. We had an official and a witness and photographer and got married on the dock with a commanding view of the Olympic Mountains as a backdrop (they happened to be snowcapped at the time). It couldn't have been more perfect. We found the Log Cabin to be a cozy and charming place to spend the first few days of our honeymoon. We built a big fire in the great rock fireplace and appreciated the good selection of spices and staples in the kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and everything was so clean and tasteful. Viewing the stars from the hot tub was a real treat. It felt like our own private paradise. We highly recommend this place to anyone-at any time of the year.

My fiance and I had a short 3 day honeymoon at the cabin. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The cabin was beautiful, peaceful, worry-free & relaxing. One of my favorite things was the nightly soak in the hot tub under the stars with the backdrop of the mountains. It was well located and acted as our base for trips to the beach and hiking trails. Martin, the owner, was there if we needed him, but gave us all the privacy we needed. The next time we come back to the Olympic Pennisula, we know where we're going to stay!

There were four of us that stayed here for a scrapbooking weekend. We were impressed from the minute we stepped out of our vehicles. The log cabin was nice and the views and property were amazing! We sat in the hot tub each night and enjoyed the views and the moon! Almost everything we needed was provided in the house. We also loved feeding the fish out in the pond. And, a special thank-you to Martin (one of the owners) for checking on us the first day and then bringing us fresh chicken eggs the next morning. I have already recommended this property to others. We had a fabulous time and will be back!!

We (family of 4 - mom, dad, 2 boys ages 11 and 13) really enjoyed our stay at the log cabin. We found it to be very comfortable and it was great to spread out. My 11 year old son really enjoyed the pool and the trout pond and I think he could have stayed at the cabin all day instead of touring the area! However, it was a good base to visit Olympic Nat'l park. We also drove up to Port Townsend for a day (about an hour away) and took a ferry to Victoria from Port Angeles as well. The kitchen is well stocked, not only with cooking utensils, pots, pans etc, but also with spices, flour, sugar, condiments, etc. We enjoyed several meals at our "home" saving us some money and relaxing. The pictures and description accurately reflect the house which is well maintained and cozy. We really enjoy the rental home experience and may never go back to traditional hotels. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin last week and I just wanted to say thank you! The cabin was so welcoming – it was so easy to settle in and enjoy our stay! The convenience to nearby Olympic National Park was wonderful and we really loved our visit. I think our favorite part was enjoying evenings in the hot tub with the amazing view! I would recommend the cabin to a friend in a heartbeat!

Wow! What a wonderful cabin you have! It was everything you described & more! The cabin was clean, comfortable & wonderfully appointed. Our 3 children slept upstairs in their own loft & shared the 1/2 bath. We enjoyed our master bedroom downstairs. The kitchen was well-stocked & the view & grounds lovely. Martin & Suzann enjoy sharing their cabin & are available for recommendations, help, etc as needed. We enjoyed the fireplace & hot tub on cool evenings & the children enjoyed the grounds & pond. Having never travelled to the Pacific northwest, we found Suzann's recommendations to be helpful. Port Angeles is a great, central location for exploring this beautifiul part of the country. We have rented thru VRBO 2 other times, both successful, but this is the best yet. I would recommend this cabin & this location to anyone wanting a taste of the northwest!

Those are the two best words that we can use to describe Suzanne and Martin's cabin and adjoining property. A wonderful and enchanting area; highlighted by the above cabin. My wife, I, two daughters and family Lab had a most enjoyable stay at this property. The cabin was extremely clean, tidy and very well appointed. The views are stunning as we would enjoy a glass of wine during the late afternoons. Hiking trails were very near to the cabin. The owners are just charming folks with great stories of their travels and adventures. The grounds were maintained like a park. We would and will revisit this property in the future. A real find. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. This stunning, tranquil place had everything we needed. We are a group of 5 that found more than we expected; fine linen, pool towels, warm, cozy fireplace with firewood already stocked, a well equipped kitchen with a coffee and a grinder and even a food processor. The beds were great and all the amenities were of fine quality. We didn’t lack for anything. The owners, who are available during the day from their office and maintenance area nearby, respected our space and checked on the hot tub when we asked and gave us their number so we could reach them at any time. We loved walking to the dock and seeing all the Canadian Geese nesting. When the clouds parted we got to see the absolutely gorgeous Olympic Mountain panoramic view from the cabin and deck and the surrounding meadows. This was the most restful and comfortable vacation that we have had in a long time and we definitely plan on coming back

The area is magical and very special. The house and accomodations were up to par. You should plan on bringing nearly everything you plan to use. The kitchen has all the requisite equipment, though it was a little thin on supplies (spices, butter, etc), though in fairness, it never claimed to provide these. In the past, the places I've rented provided local coffee, eggs, half and half. My biggest issue was that I expected to have privacy. The owners run their business right next to the house out of the converted garage. I was looking forward to unobstructed views and watching the owners walk back and forth in the backyard made me feel a bit uncomfortable. They leave a note saying if you would like privacy, that you can request it and they are happy to comply. The jacuzzi was wonderful and fireplace was nice, too.
Owner response:We are sorry that you didn’t find your time here as satisfying as you had hoped. It is our utmost intention to provide the most enjoyable and satisfying experience possible for all of our guests. Our office and supplies are in an adjacent building and sometimes we have to do maintenance, but as stated in our house instructions that includes our phone numbers, we schedule around our guests needs. It is unfortunate that you didn’t feel comfortable to let us know so we could comply. We did not mean to imply in our vrbo descriptions that groceries were provided in addition to our generous kitchen provisions.
