Just as you're inspired by an island oasis, so is this tropical island garden town home. Cleverly hidden in the heart of Old Town Key West, this small private gated oasis uses a traditional Key West style architecture of tin roofs, wooden planking, sash windows, and charming front porches. Center to the outdoors you enjoy a large rectangular heated swimming pool surrounded by a lush tropical garden, a private counterpoint to the bustle of downtown beyond the French door gate. Indoors, the feeling is at once open, airy, charming, and breathtaking.
The second floor atrium is what creates the "ah..." feeling of this home. Take the stair case to the second floor to reach the private master bedroom and master bath, and at the landing you find a wide carpeted "cat walk" hallway and railing that extends around the exterior walls to create a wonderful "look down" to the first floor. It's fun to just sit or stand on the cat walk and enjoy the feeling this unique space creates. Take the walk around the wall to the French door that leads to the second floor front porch for a birds-eye view of the oasis garden. An extra long ceiling fan hung from the open wide beams creates a sort of "Casa Blanca" effect.
Since the only rooms on the second floor are the tropically furnished master bedroom suite with ensuite private master bath, the exclusive upstairs location affords maximum privacy. The large master bedroom is carpeted and offers a king size bed. The bathroom has a combination tub and shower.
The second bedroom and bathroom are downstairs on the first floor. Located at the back of the town home the bedroom offers its own special feature, a secluded sundeck made with high fencing for maximum privacy (no neighbors on the other side), a sun worshipers dream. The nicely appointed bedroom is both spacious and versatile, with two twin size beds that are designed to be easily pushed together to make a king size bed, creating a very desirable second "master bedroom". The bathroom can function as an ensuite bath by using has a locking door that adjoinins the bedroom, as well as a locking door connecting to the living room.
Traditional Key West designers like the authentic feel that wooden floors achieve. In the living room, the owners of this home appreciate this feature and have highlighted it with a complimentary island decor'. My favorite combination of Caribbean blue and yellow is blended with primary reds and greens to bring on the tropical charm. Works of art portraying island life decorate the walls. Inviting living room furnishings provide a comfortable sofa (that converts to a sleeper) and a couple of stylish easy chairs for kicking back.
The tiled U-shaped kitchen is a great use of space that relates to the living room with an eating/serving bar (with stools) . . . so the cook is sure to enjoy the fun while preparations are made for meals and entertaining. The kitchen is nicely equipped and has new appliances.
The thoughtful owners of this beautiful property are self described perfectionists, and do whatever it takes to keep everything "ship shape". They have also installed a private laundry center with full-size washer and dryer—a unique feature to this town home complex. Another note-worthy feature of this property is its location in the little exclusive compound. Situated towards the back on one side, it is made private from pool side "traffic" and most of the other town homes.
Notes on this property would not be complete without mention of an important detail of authentic Key West architecture—the alluring front porch with picket fence railing. A tonic for the hurried traveler, there is something about the porch that invites you to ease off, lean back, and wile away the lazy sunny days. And let me not forget; this property offers even one more coveted feature in Key West....private designated parking!
This property is offered as an exclusive vacation rental in Old Town Key West. The property will not tolerate smoking inside. The property is located in a private residential complex and is definitely not suitable for staging loud parties. Only well behaved children are welcome. This property is not "child-proof". We do not accept guests less than 25 years of age unless accompanied by a family group or guardian.
Amenities: Heated swimming pool, lush tropical oasis garden, private sun deck, barbecue grill, fully fenced, equipped kitchen. central air conditioning, washer / dryer, color cable TV, C/D player and stereo. Linens and towels are provided.
Parking: This cottage has private designated off-street parking. However, from here you really never need to get in your car. Enjoy walking or biking everywhere—you'll see more that way.
