The "Greenhouse" is an adorable cottage just two blocks north of historic Black Mountain in a quiet secluded neighborhood. You can easily walk downtown to sample the diverse restaurants, shops, museums, and art galleries Black Mountain is so famous for. We are also just minutes away from Asheville and the magnificent Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a wide variety of cultural and musical entertainment activities. Lake Tomahawk is a block away from us, and Montreat is just right up the road. We are in the perfect location !
In the summer, enjoy the pleasant temperatures we typically enjoy here in the mountains of western North Carolina, and you simply cannot miss the splendor and majesty of the leaves turning vibrant shades of orange and red in the fall.
Take a hike up to the top of Craggy Gardens, of fly fish for rainbow trout on one of our area's many crystal clear rivers and streams. If it is thrills that you seek, rock climbing and white water rafting opportunities abound. On the other hand, you may just want to kick back and relax in one of our front porch rockers with a good book, or entertain family and friends at dinner outside under the stars on our spacious new deck. Year Purchased: 2007
I am a second grade teacher, in Jackson, Mississippi. My husband is an attorney with a large Jackson law firm that has offices all across the southeastern United States. We have two grown children, who are married and raising families of their own. Our son actually lives in Black Mountain.
Why the Owner Chose Black Mountain
We began coming to Black Mountain back in 2001 when our son married our daughter in law, who is from North Carolina, and they moved to this wonderful town where he is the Director of Camp Timberlake for Boys, and she is a ceramic artist. When our first grandson was born in 2006, my wife and I decided that it was time to purchase our own home in order to spend more quality time with all of them.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Our cottage is unique in that it is situated in a quiet, secluded neighborhood in the town of Black Mountain, but is an easy walk to the downtown area. I most enjoy having meals on the front deck, especially when we are joined by friends and family. The fire place is something else I really love during the winter months--it just makes the place seem so warm and cozy.
