Ahhh...relaxation included! This unit was absolutely perfect for our family of 6 (including 4 girls age 15 months to 9.) It was sparsely decorated in a good way, meaning very few items I had to worry about little fingers tempted to touch. Some reviews mentioned that the decor is a bit outdated, which might hold some truth, but we certainly didn't feel like everything was old and worn, nor did it feel like we were back in the 80s or anything. We loved being able to see the gulf from our room each morning, to judge how the water looked (i.e. seaweed) before packing all of our gear and heading down to the beach. We usually stay on the bay side of this resort, but now realize how much time it saves us to stay on the gulf side. (We bring a LOT of "stuff" to the beach so it feels like quite a trek sometimes!) The walk to the beach is SO short from Gulfside 306! The kitchen is well-stocked, the washer and dryer are a must, and overall this unit was very clean and well-maintained considering the number of guests it sees walk through its doors. It was just the right size for our family and we're talking about renting this unit again. (If not, the same floorplan.) We would definitely recommend it. And I cannot say enough about Compass Resorts! The staff was highly professional and eager to please. This unit was impeccably cleaned prior to our arrival and a more-than-ample supply of towels and facial soap were displayed nicely in each bathroom along with enough toilet paper, paper towels, and dishwashing detergent to get you started. If you need granite countertops, marble and stainless steel, pay more and stay in a different unit. If you can settle for "nice", call this place home for a week or two...it's plenty comfortable! If you've never stayed at Destin West Beach & Bay Resort, you're in for a real treat! The grounds are impeccably maintained, the staff is incredibly friendly, taking the skywalk from this unit to the lazy river is minimal (maybe 5 minutes) and the beach attendants are very accommodating. We visit this area 2-3 weeks per year and ALWAYS stay at this same resort, quality is consistent throughout and there is plenty to do onsite. (My kids like the free poolside/gulfside children's activities as well.) Overall, I would definitely recommend this condo and resort to anyone interested. We're looking forward to returning next year! And don't forget to eat at McGuire's Irish Pub...Yummy!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
