You never know what you will find when you've only seen pictures on the internet, but we couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay at the Lariat, It was very clean, very nicely decorated, and we loved that it was so close to everything we wanted to see, but felt very private. We have young children and they loved the loft area, and we appreciated that there weren't a lot of breakable decorations:) We actually weren't there very much because of sightseeing, and wished we had scheduled more time to just relax on the front porch. The owners have always been very kind, helpful, and prompt in communications. We would recommend the Lariat to anyone traveling through the Black Hills!

We came here the first week of April. We had a great time. The house is beautiful and my kids really enjoyed seeing the deer in the morning. The hot tub was a nice treat at the end of the day. Coming from the flatlands of Illinois it was refreshing to wake up to the site of the hills. This house is a stone's throw from mount rushmore and a great leaping pad for other destinations in the area. Hill City is quaint and a nice place to walk around. The house is situated just far enough out of the main town to feel like you are really getting away from it all. Would highly recommend this home to anyone. Like I said we came at the off season and at the price we paid per night this deal was a steal. Worth every penny.

When I did research for my trip to the black hills for an 8 night stay for lodging, I had researched hotels versus rental properties and everything in between bed and breakfast and finally camping. I found this great web site VRBO.com with properties for rent and inquired about some of the listing. Since I wasn't to familliar with South Dakota and the surrounding areas of the black hills, I asked a few people where a good place to stay and they recommended Rapid City; because it was close to all of the major monuments in the Black Hills. When I was pricing all of the above lodging choices I found that if I were to stay in a hotel and eating out for 8 days and nights, I would spend more money then if I rented for a week. I also found by renting a fully furnished house with all the amenities for cooking I was saving more than expected. I found the "The Lariat" in the mist of my research and booked this Diamond in the Ruff for a week. When I first got to the black hills I fell in love with the whole area, and then I drove into Hill City to pick up the keys from the main office and the staff was wonderful from the get go . When we got the the cabin I was even more impressed with the location of the property and how easy it was to get around. It is centrally located 3 miles from Hill City not to much traffic because the main attractions are on the other major roads and quiet. The cabin is three miles from a grocery store that has everything available for anyone's needs and a near by pharmacy. The driving distance to any monument is give or take 15 min and easy to get to. The property itself is very spacious. The cabin is big, clean and very home like. When we arrived at "The Lariat" the property was ready for guest to come in make themselves at home. All the appliances are up todate and the hot tub was fabulous. We did encounter one problem however when we went out to use the grill the lid almost fell off when I opened it. I called the main office right away to let them know about the problem. The property manager said they would notify the owners of this situation. When we went out to sight see the next day and came back to "The Lariat" there was a hand written note from the owner, appologizing for the inconvience and a brand new grill was already on the property and the old grill was carted away. We would not have had this kind of service anywhere else! Our experience was great and I do recommend "The Lariat in a heartbeat! Thanks again!
