A wonderful five nights
Our family had a wonderful five nights on the houseboat. My 3 kids loved the paddle boat, massage chair, big TV and the jumbo gorilla. It was a very comfortable home and a new experience for us. Thank you Martin for coming by to pump up one of the bicycle tires and helping us with the Wii game. Many thanks!

A wonderful time was had by all!
Our family came to San Francisco for a wedding. We turned it into a family reunion. A wonderful time was had by all! My daughter and I went for an adventure with the paddle boat. I will cherish the laughter as well as all the laughs, jokes and stories told. Thank you so much!

I guess my luck ran out... the VRBO properties we have rented in the past always turned out to be even better than the description... until this one. The description was about half right and the photos were somewhat misleading. The location was good, but the "gourmet" kitchen was not; the master bedroom was really nice, but the other two were hardly suitable for adults. The bathrooms were stocked with mismatched towels, and the kitchen pots were old/dirty and disorganized. All was tolerable, though disappointing, until the second night when one of the ladies discovered water dripping on the bed from the light fixture!! We called the owner and used a bowl on the bed to catch the water. The owner was sympathetic, but it was too late to get a plumber. The bed could not be used, though. Someone was supposed to be there at 8 AM or 9 AM, but when we left at 11 AM, no one had yet arrived. The owner did offer a $100.00 discount for our inconvenience and sent an invoice confirming the refund, but 10 days have passed and nothing has posted to my account. There has been no response to my emails/phone calls.

Owner response: Wow!! It's hard to respond to a review like this. We have approximately 100 different guests per year so one unhappy person out of 100 isn't too bad. The majority of our reviews are 5 stars. Still it is very upsetting when someone is unhappy for any reason, even though she gave us 3 stars. In our defense: We do have a gourmet kitchen. (Past comments for this same kitchen have said it was the highlight of their visit and loved all the appliances, appearance (granite counters, ceramic floors, modern appliances, $1000 microwave, compactor, etc.) the picture of the kitchen on vrbo/homeaway is exactly what it looks like. As to the pots and pans, they aren't brand new but work just fine. If they seemed disorganized to her I would hope she would realize that this is a houseboat and cabinet space is very limited so pots and pans must be stacked. The houseboat photos are not misleading. I took them myself. They were not altered in any way. Past recent reviews say it looked as good in person as the photos, or even better. We do have bunk beds in one of the guest rooms but that's because we need to accommodate kids. It is a very nice set and includes a double bed as the bottom bed. Every person who inquires gets a description of the bunk beds. I wish she had said what made them unsuitable. The mismatched towel comment is hard to understand. Our towels are white and green to match the particular bath colors. They are all new or near-new and our cleaning people know to make sure they all match, are not worn or damaged and are color consistent. As to the last problem, I received the call late Saturday night and got a plumber there as soon as he could come on Sunday morning, about 11. It turned out to be a small leak in the dishwasher hose under he sink in the kitchen, which is directly over the bedroom. I'm sorry this had to happen, especially on a weekend, but this is a situation that could happen to anyone. (who has never had a leak under the sink?) As to the discount, I entered a credit with our credit card bank and they said it went through. To make up for the inconvenience I will offer these ladies an additional $100 credit. I just wish they had expressed these thoughts to me at the time because this review was a great surprise, especially since most all our reviews are very good, we are even rated on tripadvisor.com as one of the best in Sausalito.
Susan has thought of everything. The setting is beautiful. Great vacation with my 4 childhood friends. Sausalito is so pretty and convenient for a day in wine country, a ride along the coast and proximity to SFO. If the government had not shut down Alcatraz and Muir Woods it would a been a plus - but you "can't fight city hall" right? Thanks Susan

Great MemoriesGuest comment entered by owner
Our family from Hawaii gathered here to celebrate Grandma's 86th birthday. We made great memories here. Cooking Dungeness crab, oysters from Hog Island and baking potatoes, mushrooms and scones. Thank you for a great kitchen, barbeque grill and beautiful houseboat. Even took the paddleboat out for a spin. The massage chair was a hit and soothed muscles; especially after the bike ride up the hill to the bridge. Aloha and Mahalo!

This was a wonderful vacation with family and friends
This was a wonderful vacation with family and friends
We stayed at this houseboat in the middle of June and wanted to write about how much we enjoyed it. Everything was as advertised and even better. The houseboat is modern and well furnished, including the furnishings, beautiful linens and towels, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, lotions, shower gel and champagne. We even had fresh fruit, cheese and crackers waiting for us when we arrived. Our "concierge" Martin was extremely helpful. He got us all set up with the paddle boat and kayaks and we spent almost every day on the water in beautiful Sausalito. The kids really loved it all. The kitchen was wonderful, all the best appliances, accessories and china and glassware. It made dining in really great. All in all it was a great experience and a fun time for all. We couldn't be happier.

More than a Houseboat... it's a gourmet home.
More than a Houseboat... it's a gourmet home.
There are some great reviews already written here and I'll not try to compete in describing the place. I must say I concur with all of the 5 star reviews. Read them and rest assured they're not in the least bit exaggerated. We had a wonderful stay with ten times the amenities and ambiance we'd have had with a hotel stay at twice the cost. This is a great floating home for a San Francisco Bay area vacation stay. It has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, a great patio area with a four burner gas grill and everything you could want in a luxury home built with entertaining in mind. Our stay was beautiful, peaceful and almost decadently luxurious... a visit to Sausalito we'll truly never forget. Watch out for that fabulous massage chair though. It will grab you in ways you've always dreamed of and it's hard not to emit squeals of ecstacy when it has you in it's grip. ;-) A big thank you to the owners and the rental managers. We loved every minute of our stay.

About the owner: The owner lives in Marin County and is here to help you with any problem or need you might have.
Why the Owner Chose Sausalito:
Sausalito is one of the most beautiful and romantic locations anywhere in the world. A houseboat is the quintessential location in Sausalito. To be on the water, with the constantly changing tides and wildlife, yet be so close to restaurants, entertainment, shopping and conveniences is ideal. Just minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco to the south and the wine country and redwoods to the north - plus the beaches at Muir and Stinson Beaches.
The Unique Benefits at this House Boat:
Having a private dock with kayak and paddle boat right on the Bay is great fun. From the houseboat you can go out into the Bay, see Sausalito from the water, Belvedere, Tiburon and San Francisco. The San Francisco Ferry across the Bay to San Francisco is just downtown 5 minutes away. Nearby freeway access to either San Francisco and Wine and Redwood country. The houseboat has a gourmet kitchen and we provide every system and appliances, etc Available - two large plasma TV's both DVR/HD on cable with all the premium channels Wii games, etc. etc. We are tidal so when the tide is out, the sea birds and shore birds put on a show fishing in the mud. Then the tide comes in and you are floating on the Bay. The tide changes twice a day.
