There are some great reviews already written here and I'll not try to compete in describing the place. I must say I concur with all of the 5 star reviews. Read them and rest assured they're not in the least bit exaggerated. We had a wonderful stay with ten times the amenities and ambiance we'd have had with a hotel stay at twice the cost. This is a great floating home for a San Francisco Bay area vacation stay. It has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, a great patio area with a four burner gas grill and everything you could want in a luxury home built with entertaining in mind. Our stay was beautiful, peaceful and almost decadently luxurious... a visit to Sausalito we'll truly never forget. Watch out for that fabulous massage chair though. It will grab you in ways you've always dreamed of and it's hard not to emit squeals of ecstacy when it has you in it's grip. ;-) A big thank you to the owners and the rental managers. We loved every minute of our stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: What can I say except how wonderful it is to have a guest take the trouble to write a review: and one this nice just makes my day. Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay so much

Enough cannot be said of the beauty and serenity of this property. When one thinks houseboat, one typically imagines some sort of Jimmy Buffet-esque pastel number complete with a Florida day bed. Not so with this place. It comes fully, and LUXURIOUSLY furnished--the beds are well made, plush and comfortable, and the below deck bedrooms offer privacy and a quiet escape for naps or sleeping in. The glistening kitchen is outfitted with a full array of appliances and utensils, not to mention flatware, glasses and cutlery from casual to fine (there were Mikasa teacups!). Complete with dishwasher, oven and range top, it is spacious enough in which to prepare food for a sizable group. I stayed with a wedding party at this location and we made a full italian feast as well as brunch (with freshly ground and brewed coffee!). For entertainment purposes, there are TV's in the bedrooms as well as in the livingroom, with up to date players for DVDs, video games, and music. The sizable living room's lofted ceiling offers a sense of breathy spaciousness; for a cozier feel, one can light up the gas fireplace at night (which is double sided--it can be viewed from the outside deck). Speaking of outdoors, there are sizable decks on both floors, with chairs and benches for relaxing, sunning, or looking out across the tranquil waters to the vegetation and hills beyond. Near the kitchen there is a patio outfitted for outdoor dining and BBQ-ing. If you, like me, had a preconceived notion that creature comforts might have to be sacrificed on a houseboat, prepare to learn the exact opposite. There are 2.5 bathrooms, with a seemingly endless supply of hotwater for showering and bathing (the master suite has a sizable jacuzzi tub). Outlets and lighting are well placed throughout the entire house, and in generous supply. One of the most pleasant surprises about the place is the fully operational laundry room with washer, dryer, and ironing materials. The closets and cupboards of the house are neatly and amply stocked with a variety of things one would normally have to buy when travelling; no need to run to the market if things are forgotten or lost. Perhaps the best feature of the place is the how much natural light it receives, as well as the privacy, quiet, and tranquility which it emanates. For a relaxing, serene vacation and a beautiful time enjoying family and friends, please treat yourself to a stay at this place!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: It is so gratifying to find that people like the houseboat and had a great time. I especially want to thank Kelsey and her friends for taking the time to write such a nice review (and for leaving the houseboat in perfect and clean condition.) Thanks Kelsey

We had such an amazing stay at this houseboat. We were 2 families traveling with a total of 4 adults and 6 children. It was so exciting walking down the beautiful pier with all of the unique houseboats wondering which one would be ours. Even the teenagers were thrilled when they first walked into our houseboat. They were all like "wow, this is really cool!!" I had been the person who found this boat online and was so happy when the other adults were equally thrilled. We unloaded our stuff and sat out on the back deck enjoying our glasses of champagne to celebrate this great find. There is a double sided fireplace that gives off some heat to the back deck which is really nice as it gets a bit chilly in Sausalito at night. The accomodations were exceptional. Being 2 families that like to eat we loved the gourmet kitchen with every appliance you could possibly want. Susan, I really loved all of your beautiful dishes! You had such an ecclectic group of dishes, glasses, serving bowls, etc...it made eating very fun! Excellence is in the details and it is evident that you put a lot into the little details. We also enjoyed your collection of books, in particular the history of the houseboat community. It was fun to be a part of the tradition for a few days. The rest of the accomodations were great...plenty of towels, hot water, etc. We had no worries. It had plenty of space for the 4 adults and 6 children ranging in age from 18 down to 9. The kids loved sitting out on the downstairs deck off of the master bedroom chatting. It was a cool place for them to hang out. Their all time favorite part was of course that massage chair! There were only a few fights and even the adults got a chance to try it. The location can't be beat. Sausalito is adorable and we enjoyed walking and dining with the incredible views of San Francisco. There was a wonderful market directly across the street with an amazing deli. It had everything we could need. We met the owner of the deli on one of the other piers and had great conversation. Everyone was so friendly and interesting to talk to as we took evening and morning strolls on the piers. I am very jealous of the flowers. We don't have flowers like that back here in Wisconsin. It was so relaxing to walk those piers morning and evening. San Fran is only minutes away with easy access to the highway. Thank you for a wonderful, truly unique vacation that we will never forget. I know I will be back someday!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I am so happy that Brenda and her family and friends liked the houseboat so much. I try very hard to make sure it is everything our renters want. This really makes it all worthwhile.

We have stayed on houseboats before but this one was really special. I like to cook and it had everything I needed - and more. It had all the appliances and equipment, even an automatic potato peeler! We especially enjoyed making home made ice cream with the automatic ice cream machine. It came with find china and crystal and we had a great family dinner. The furnishings were first class - it is decorated beautifully with special artwork etc. It even has a massage chair with headphones and music. At first we thought we would rent one further out in deep water (like most houseboats, this one is tidal so the tide is high twice a day and is out twice a day), but the trade off was good. It is close to the nearby market and cafe and we didn't have to walk 3 blocks down the dock to go anywhere. We can heartily recommend this houseboat for a great vacation.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am so happy that this renter loved our amenities. We try very hard to provide everything a family or group might want or need to have a great family experience. The kitchen, in fact the whole houseboat, is modern and new and we think the kitchen and dining facilities are very complete. It's true there are some houseboats way out at the end of the docks that don't have the extreme tides in and out, but most all of them are in the tide and the ones way out on the dock do require quite a hike to even get to the car, much less the store and cafe. Most of our renters love the changing tides and we do too. The birds and sea life are constantly changing and interesting.

I was very disappointed with this vacation rental. I expected that it would be luxurious and would have all the amenities from its description and it's high price. Instead, it was not clean, it was cluttered and did not contain everything promised. The owner needs to carry out some maintenance, for example, the sliding doors do not lock, the master shower has no door or curtain and so "floods" the bathroom, the knobs on the toaster oven were broken. and numerous other things that show that the home is not cared for properly. The kitchen was dirty, the floor had not even been swept and I found an empty beer bottle under the master bed. The fresh fruit bowl promised consisted of 2 bruised apples, the promised robes and toiletries were not there at all. I believe that it had not been cleaned properly after the previous guests, if at all. This was not my idea of a luxurious, relaxing vacation home and I would not return,Owner response: I am so sorry these guests had this experience. We have a new cleaning crew and it sounds like they did not do a good job. As to the things mentioned, I have to say that we have bars for the tracks on the sliding doors (even though the only way anyone could get in would be to swim in or by boat). The master shower is not designed to have a curtain and no one has every complained before. I know the robes and toiletries were there because I put them there myself so I don't know what this means. We have had 25 five star reviews and two bad ones. Why the two found it to be completely different I can't say. In this case however, I am sorry the crew didn't do a good job. We will replace any broken items right away.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: The owner lives in Marin County and is here to help you with any problem or need you might have.
Why the Owner Chose Sausalito:
Sausalito is one of the most beautiful and romantic locations anywhere in the world. A houseboat is the quintessential location in Sausalito. To be on the water, with the constantly changing tides and wildlife, yet be so close to restaurants, entertainment, shopping and conveniences is ideal. Just minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco to the south and the wine country and redwoods to the north - plus the beaches at Muir and Stinson Beaches.
The Unique Benefits at this House Boat:
Having a private dock with kayak and paddle boat right on the Bay is great fun. From the houseboat you can go out into the Bay, see Sausalito from the water, Belvedere, Tiburon and San Francisco. The San Francisco Ferry across the Bay to San Francisco is just downtown 5 minutes away. Nearby freeway access to either San Francisco and Wine and Redwood country.
The houseboat has a gourmet kitchen and we provide every system and appliances, etc Available - two large plasma TV's both DVR/HD on cable with all the premium channels Wii games, etc. etc. We are tidal so when the tide is out, the sea birds and shore birds put on a show fishing in the mud. Then the tide comes in and you are floating on the Bay. The tide changes twice a day.
