Basalt is the next town down valley from world-renowned Aspen, and both are well known as centers for biking, hiking, climbing, rafting, fishing, sailing (on Ruedi Reservoir).

I have lived in this valley for more than 35 years, first in Aspen for 31 years, then Basalt for 3 years, then in Carbondale. I loved my place in Basalt but needed more room, so turned that home into a special rental property with all the amenities. It is ideal for people who like good exercise walking and biking, and there is a huge reservoir just up the Frying Pan River. Golf courses are located up and down the valley, many of them available to the public. Basalt is a great little historic town with lots of good shopping and restaurants.
