Owner Description
Hello. I am Carin and this is my husband, Edward. We have two children, one boy and one girl. After graduating from college, getting married and working in the business world for several years, I decided to stay home to raise our children. We bought this house, which was in very rough shape, and spent 10 years renovating it. During the five years we lived here, we loved being able to walk to everything - downtown, playgrounds, the boardwalk, etc. We decided to try renting to raise money for the kids college education. Edward and I met at Michigan State University. Hence, the name, The State House.

Thank you Carin and Edward for being so sweet to us, when we had to come home for our family members funeral. On such a short notice you had the house ready for us, like it was when we rented from you in July. The State House is our home away from home. We love it. Our drive was long, our visit was short and sorrowful, but you made it bearable. Thank you for being so kind. God Bless.

My husband, son & wife, 3 grandchildren, and I stayed in this home for a week. It was very clean, bright, and a good location. Only draw back was one full bath. But we knew about that when we rented it, so we planned accordingly. Comfy beds, and furniture. Kids loved the sun porch, it was their room to play with all their toys. Clean basement where the washer and dryer are. Liked the wide stairway to the upstairs, easy for the kids to go up and down as the stairs weren't too steep. Would have liked dead bolts on the doors, out of reach of the kids, and better water pressure in the shower. Owners were very nice and attentive, answered any question we had. More photos on website of other bedrooms, and backyard would be a plus. I would recommend this home to anyone. Had some friends stop by, and they liked it too. Just cozy, and a feeling of being home while we were there made our stay very enjoyable.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
