What an awesome experience my wife and I had at the Hourglass and S.B. Each day held a new adventure for us from a 6 mile walk (round-trip) on Arroyo Beach to hiking at the end of Paradise Road (Gibralter Road Dam trail) to wine tasting in Santa Ynez and Solvang to dining out at Stella Mare's, Opal, Cold Springs Tavern and Rudy's. Santa Barbara has so much to offer and the Hourglass is conveniently located so that you can reach many destinations in a very short time. 5 to 7 minutes to Arroyo Beach (our favorite beach we found), 20 to 25 minutes to Paradise Rd. and hiking trails, 30 to 35 minutes to Santa Ynez and Solvang and only minutes from all the shops and restaurants on State St. Another A+ for us was the tranquiluity of returning home to a clean, well-maintained chalet with hot shower, comfortable bed and relaxing hot tub that allows a view of the stars. We did extensive research online and explored quite a bit while we were there and believe you would be hard-pressed to find a better price, location and amenities then you can find at the Hourglass. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. A&L from ArizonaRecommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so happy to share a spot with our wonderful guests that truly offers all the best of Santa Barbara!

Hourglass was a lovely retreat for us. Quiet, restful, yet minutes away from the restaurants and theaters of State Street. We were delighted to see the spacious closet and the well appointed kitchen. We especially liked the openness, the un-cluttered decor, the cozy living room, and the comfortable bedroom. We left feeling rested and refreshed (a feeling revived when we remember our wonderful stay). We will definitely try to stay there when next in Santa Barbara.Did you find this review helpful? The Hourglass cured my writer's block! We expected a beautiful property, but we had no idea what was in store...This house has all the comforts of home AND the elegant minute details of a hotel suite. If we come back to S.B. we most certainly will rent here again! Thank you for the love you have put into this place; we wanted for nothing!Did you find this review helpful? The Hourglass is wonderful. We ended up eating dinner here all but two nights because we bought more wine than we could fly home with. Everything we needed was here. We enjoyed the patio too--love the hot tub!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We escaped for a mere two nights from our four children (ages 17 to 9) and wished we'd been able to stay longer. Why? It was impossible to be stressed out and be here. It just evaporated the second I opened the door. There were sweet touches like lots of electric candles, robes, shampoo, lots of towels, an iPod dock, and a nicely appointed spice rack. The first night I cooked, and discovered soy sauce, sugar and oil in the cabinet! Exploring the busy downtown and then coming back to this peace and quiet was just wonderful. And the hot tub was a keeper! We hope to be back again. ASAP. You've done such a great job making people feel at home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wendy, We had the most amazing week in Santa Barbara! We LOVED the little house, although we didn't spend any time in the hot tub or use the grill as we had expected. Loved the simple yet lovely decor and the washer and dryer were very convenient. Only wish I had more time to hike and enjoy the fresh grapefruits! The wine tasting, kayaking, horse riding, and canyon runs were the highlights for me. We ate at the Fish House (amazing food) and Hitching Post and even the little Seafood Company at the end of the pier. Too many great experiences to mention! Can't wait to come back. Wendy, Thank you so much for providing & creating such a wonderful place to stay. We were very pleased with how comfortable the Hourglass is because of all that is provided. We also loved the peace and tranquility that the location offers--the trees, the birds, and the frogs at night. We will recommend it to others!
