Awesome View! Beachfront Playa Azul Tower 1 in Luquillo
- Minimum stay:N/A

The best of the best! Luquillo has the best beaches in Puerto Rico and Playa Azul beach is one of them. And the Playa Azul Towers are right there. Tower 1 has the best view of the ocean, and this apartment sits high on the eleventh floor of Playa Azul 1, with a commanding view of nature's best. It is a one-bedroom unit ideal for a romantic get-away or a small family. The bedroom has a huge king-sized bed and its own window looking out to the ocean. Plus at the eleventh floor you can still hear the soothing sound of the waves. The bedroom has a very efficient A/C unit, but many renters do not use it preferring to sleep to the sound of the waves and the usual breeze of the easterly trade winds. There is a very comfortable futon in the living area that allows for up to two additional people, and which is also great for mid-afternoon siestas. The kitchen is well-equipped with stainless steel fridge, stove and microwave. This apartment is new on the rental market. Come once and you will surely return many times. I'm sure you would rather be in it right now!
The gated Playa Azul Complex is located one mile from world-class Luquillo public beach, one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. The complex sits on its own large crescent beach with gentle waves - perfect for body surfing, sunbathing, or strolling. Luquillo public beach is a short walk to the West and an excellent surfing beach ('La Pared') is a short walk to the East.
Inside the complex you will find tennis and basketball courts, two pools (including a toddlers pool), play equipment for kids, and a clubhouse. A grocery store, drug store, gas station, bank ATM, Laundromat, and several restaurants are within walking distance.
The condominium's location in Luquillo is ideal for exploring the Eastern part of Puerto Rico. The El Yunque National rainforest is just a few minutes West on Route 3 and Fajardo, with ferries to Culebra and Vieques - the Spanish Virgin Islands, and its own natural wonder bioluminescent bay is a few miles East. Shopping in old San Juan and at the outlets are just 20 to 40 minutes away. Several championship golf courses are located at several nearby golf resorts within 10 miles. Stay in Playa Azul for a fraction of the cost of a hotel and enjoy the best of Puerto Rico!

The location is perfect! Located near anything you would want to do on the island, and right on a beautiful beach. It was easy to get to the beach (right out the back) and close to grocery, etc. There is a security guard 24/7 and the area around the building felt very safe. Parking was also never an issue. It was quiet for the most part. But occasionally there would be some jerk who would drive up and down the beach blaring his music - but you can get that anywhere unfortunately. I also loved the tradewinds - no need for a/c and it felt so clean and fresh! The only problems we had was when we first got to the room, the toilet flusher was broken, there was an outlet hanging out of the wall (extremely UNSAFE), and the fridge was not keeping things cold. I had to end up freezing all the food I bought in order for it not to go bad. On the plus side, everything was repaired in a timely manner, but it should have been addressed before we got there or at least the outlet and the flusher should have. Pedro was wonderful getting back to me with any questions. And the property manager Enoch was friendly and nice to work with. The beds were actually quite comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, there were tons of towels, sand toys to play with, and pillows. It was comfortable and cozy to stay there. I truly wish I could give it 4.5 stars, but that isn't a choice. So I've decided to give it 5 because it was such an enjoyable place to stay overall. There just needs to be some better property review to ensure the place is safe and functioning for the next group.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This place was an extremely good value for the location, which is beach front. The deck is huge and we spent a lot of time looking out on the beach. This location is good if you plan on doing a lot of outdoor adventures because it's close to El Yunque rain forest and all the kayaking tours and ferries in Fajardo to the other islands. We have a young child so didn't opt to do the trip to Culebra or kayaking, but we took him twice to the public Luquillo beach where we paid $4.28 for parking since the waters are very shallow and calm. My son also enjoyed the rougher waves in front of the condo. We also took a scenic drive on the coast on route 901 in Yabucoa, which is one of the most beautiful drives I have ever taken in my life where there are great views of the bright blue Carribean Sea on a winding road up and back down the mountain. Then we also drove to and ate at a very picturesque bay in Naguabo, which is 30 minutes, I think from the condo. One of the most beautiful bays I have ever seen in my life. The furniture in the pictures look dated for some reason, but in reality the armchair and the plaid futon are relatively new and clean. The bedroom has a huge king sized bed, which was enough for us and our small son. The parking was plentiful. The one problem we had was trying to use the DVD player as another reviewer wrote since we had brought our son's DVDs. We gave up and fell asleep exhausted trying to figure it out. Also would have been nice to have wi-fi in the condo for our tablet. The week we were there, there were a lot of trade winds, which put us to sleep, but it could get loud and the door was so heavy to open and close, the winds were that powerful. We could have used it in the lobby, but didn't bother. The building seems a little dated as is the lobby, playground, and pool area, but for the price of one week it was still a great value and we really got our money's worth in Pedro's clean condo. There's a lot of clean towels and bed linens available. It's also a safe neighborhood. My husband and I took turns walking in the early morning on the streets and the beach. You can even walk to the public beach on the western side, which was a very beautiful walk and always seemed safe. The down side is the area of La Pared Beach and the town square did not have much in terms of cafes, restaurants, shops, etc. It looked like a ghost town. We did get lucky though with a festival on Saturday, with lots of arts and crafts we bought.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The apartment was exactly what we were looking for. We had never been to Puerto Rico before and wanted a private place where we could relax, go swimming, and see the sites. It was centrally located and the view could not be beat. We were about 25 minutes from Ferjardo, 10 minutes from the rain forest and beautiful beaches right outside the apartment. We slept soundly in the comfortable king sized bed listening to the wave crash on shore. The common pool was very clean and was never too crowded. Upon our arrival, we had a problem not being able to connect to internet via the modem. I mentioned it to Enoc and they immediately brought me a disk to try and remedy the situation. Unfortunately, because I had a Mac, the modem was not compatible and I was never able to connect via the modem. It was a minor inconvenience and we we were able to access the WiFi downstairs in the library. My only critique is that some of the cooking implements (frying pan and knives) should be replaced. Also we could not figure out how to get the DVD player to work as there were multiple remotes. An instruction sheet on how to do this would be useful. We watched the movie on my laptop so no worries. If you are looking for a modestly appointed, very clean and centrally located place to stay, I would highly recommend this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your feedback. We truly appreciate it and will use it to make improvements. We shall replace the older kitchen utensils and keep vigilant for future upkeep. We will include additional instructions to operate the audiovisual equipment in our property binder for tenants. Hope to see you again in a future visit!

My daughter and I spent a week here. This is a great location - a walk to the beach and 1 minute drive to main road. Place very clean, the beach is fantastic, view from balcony is great! The trade winds are strong - never needed the air conditioning. The only issue we had was the sliding door to the balcony was difficult to open - but we did manage it every time. This is gated community - guard at gate very helpful, the people who are at the desk of the building are very helpful too. Pedro was very responsive and helpful - answered emails quickly and very clearly. While in Puerto Rico I spent a lot of time at the beach outside apt - water is fantastic. Every morning I took a walk on the beach. Enjoyed hearing the constant surf!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your feedback. We have now fixed the sliding door to make it easier to operate.

Pedro's unit is clean safe and quiet and well stocked. He made the transactions deposits very easy with paypall and use a local property management company. When my flight was delayed he was very prompt in putting me in touch with local property managers so I need not worry about arriving later than expected. The complex is very safe with security at entrance to parking lot and in lobby of building. Local and long term tenants seem to live in the building and everyone was very friendly. I could leave the door and windows open at night and listen to surf crash on the beach below which was nice. He also had really nice quiet fans so I never needed the air conditioning. The location is good with grocery stores etc close by.Pedro is an excellent person to rent from. This is a good place to stay to use a base for east end PR attractions if you have a car. ThanksRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.

After a lot of research on where to stay, we chose this condo because of the reviews and amenities that it offered. It exceeded our expectations. It was very easy to book through the owner, Pedro, who answered emails very quickly. We put down a deposit and got a lot of information about the area emailed to us. When we arrived at the condo, we immediately loved the complex it was in. It is gated with a guard, and there is also a guard in each building. It was very safe, and the surrounding area also was in our opinion. The guards were very friendly and helpful as well, and showed us which keys worked where and gave us the info on the beach and pool. The people who live here were also very friendly and we never heard a peep from our neighbors. The condo was bigger than expected, clean, with a huge and comfy king sized bed, living area, dining area, small kitchen and bathroom but was as expected. The view in the picture in this listing truly is the exact view from the condo. The waves are loud and very relaxing to listen to from the balcony. The kitchen was well stocked, with a toaster, blender, coffee maker, microwave, full sized fridge, full sized oven and stove top, and many kitchen pots/pans/utensils. We stayed in a condo because we wanted to be able to have our own food for breakfasts and lunches, plus some dinners. We cooked a couple dinners here and also used the amenities for our other meals. The AC was very nice in the bedroom, and there was a nice breeze when opening the blinds in the other rooms. There also were ceiling fans. Location was perfect. Close to a gas station, pharmacy, grocery, restaurants, beaches, and El Yunque. We would love to stay here again in a second and highly recommend it!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our week in Luquillo was perfect! The VRBO rental had just what we needed and was in an excellent location. Waking up every morning and having breakfast looking out on the beach was perfect. We could walk to the grocery store and use the kitchen for low-maintenance meals. We highly recommend eating at El Rincon del Sabor which is about a 15 minute walk from the condo. Playa Azul is a great place to stay and was only a 15 minute drive to either Fajardo or El Yunque. We felt very safe and relaxed on our vacation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

There was an outlet on the wall next to the dresser in the bedroom that needs fixing (its kind of hanging off the wall exposing the wires) and we had our very curious 2 year old that kept trying to get to it. We let management know that the iron needed replacing because it was found cracked during our stay and the router wasn't working so our laptop couldn't connect to the internet with it. But these are minor things that can be fixed. The condo had a beautiful view of the beach and we had everything we needed. It was very easy to get to as well. We had a great time here and will definetly want to stay here when we go back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We'll fix the electrical outlet and replace the iron. I'm a little confused by your router comment because there is no router in the unit. The connection to the internet is "hardwired" using the ethernet cable connected to the modem in the unit. In any case, thanks for your feedback and I encourage you to give me a call whenever you find any problems in the unit during your next stay, which I hope is soon.

First and foremost, we must say thank you to Pedro for always being so prompt in responding to our questions and concerns about the rental unit. Prior to leaving for our vacation, we sent an email to see if an ironing board and hairdryer were provided in the unit. He reported that they were not, but a brand new (still in the packaging) ironing board, hairdryer and blender were delivered to the condo on the morning after our arrival! Other questions arose while we were there, and he was always remarkably courteous in his quick replies. The view of the ocean from the balcony is breath-taking. The property is tucked into a crescent along the coast with palm trees lining the beach, a view of the mountains and islands to the east, and a small marina to the west. There is also an amazing view of the mountains and rainforest from the public balcony outside of the unit's entrance door. Even when it's a hot day or evening, the trade winds keep blowing through to keep you comfortable. We only turned on the A/C unit in the bedroom on 1 night there! These are not luxury properties, but the unit we stayed in was clean, well-equipped and well-maintained by the owner. Tower 1 is currently under construction to make improvements to the property. There was frequent noise and some litter in the public areas from the construction project, but this could not be helped by the owner. We would definitely rent from Pedro again in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: Just a brief note written July 7, 2010 to confirm that all construction work mentioned above in Tower 1 of the Playa Azul complex has been completed. We appreciate the patience of all our visitors.
