It's a lower-level suite; the landlord lives in the house above. While we were there, she was away on business, so it was totally private, which was nice. However, with the landlord away, when there was a minor mis-hap (no hairdryer), there was no immediate remedy for a wet head. No big deal, really. Everything was nice and clean on its face upon arrival, but there were some smudgy drinking glasses and a wine glass had a chipped lip. Landlord might want to check on the cleaning service's work. The bed is super comfy, although it is nestled into a nook, and one side of the bed is pushed against the wall, so one person has to skooch out the end of the bed to get up during the night. The rest of the furniture is comfortable; it doesn't feel like cheapo vacation-rental furniture. Some thought went into it. Much appreciated. The view of the pond and cranberry bog is gorgeous; however, because the unit is right on a pond, there will be mosquitoes. Landlord was prepared for that situation with a Citronella candle burning upon our arrival, a very thoughtful touch. The muzzies seem to know where the sliding screen door is, so you have to be quick getting in and out, or you will have wee visitors in the night. As a central location to the entire Cape, you can't really beat it. It's a great jumping-off point for a day of exploring Eastham, Wellfleet and P-Town. And it takes about 20 minutes driving west to catch the Hyannisport ferry to Nantucket. It also is located near to the main bike path that spans the whole Cape, if that's your thing. The unit itself isn't within walking distance of groceries and sundries, so be sure to get everything you need before you hunker down for a romantic weekend. Overall, it's a fantastic value, a great secluded location, a sweet retreat for a couple looking for some privacy. Just some minor quibbles that might partially be the result of coming off-season, so docked it one star. Still, would visit again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Spent three nights here right after hurricane Irene passed through. Clean, quiet and restful, a nice place to get away from the crowd. The owner informed us that the furniture was going to be replaced after we left, but we found it satisfactory while we were there. It is the ground floor level of the home with plenty of room for 2-4 guests. There is a canoe avaiable for use on the nearby pond. We would recommend it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

the feel of tranquility and scent of nature can not be expressed well enough through the photos. well maintained, bright and comfortable accommodation with all the amenities to support it, even a coffee grinder! we bbq'ed on outdoor grill and and relaxed on the patio and enjoyed the lake view with no issues. the lake is also beautiful temperature for swimming, a few steps away, 5 min walk to cranberry bog, good running/walking area. great cycling area via cape cod rail trail, all without getting into our car, which was our main focus when staying their. if you are feeling more social nice restaurants: the Noble House and Inaho are favorites. and beach near by: Breakwater. wonderful owner, easy to work with and very accommodating. Love the place, totally worth the stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great week at this comfortable, clean apartment. The view is really lovely from both the bedroom and living room. In nice weather it is great to sit outside, but it was a hot and humid week so we were very glad to have A/C. On a quiet street, we were out of the tourist rush but had access to everything we needed close at hand. For tourist activities: we were about an hour from Provincetown (for the best ever Dolphin Fleet whale watch), half an hour from Eastham (for a wonderful concert by Greg Greenway), and 25 minutes from Hyannis for a sail. Other, nearby recommendations: there's a Box Lunch close by for the best take-out lunch! For ice cream, try Sundae School, but be flexible about your time as the line just to get into the parking lot can be long! And 400 East is a great local restaurant in East Harwich with perfect burgers and delicious seafood.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: I grew up in California and moved to Boston for a job in 1980 after completing my studies. Being close to nature and to the ocean has always been important to me. Looking out onto the pond and cranberry bog from just about anywhere in the house, creates instant relaxation. When I first visited Cape Cod, I used to hear people talk about how your stress level would go down 20 points the minute you crossed the Sagamore Bridge. Living in the Cape and often going to Boston, I found out how true it is. There is something about driving along Route 6 as I enter the Cape - there are no ads or billboards, just greenery and the beauty of nature - whatever the season. I notice my breathing slowing down immediately. Mostly residents on the Cape are friendly, down to earth folks who mind their own business and take great care of the natural beauty of this landscape. There is lots here for everyone whether your desire is to be in nature, kayak, canoe, bikeride, eat out at terrific restaurants, spend all day at the beach, have picnics, practice yoga, learn about the historic sites or visit the gay scene in P-town! I hope you enjoy your visit to Cape Cod and that you have the opportunity to visit Brewster - the old sea captain's town.
Why the Owner Chose Brewster:
I fell in love with the location of the house the minute I walked into it. The view of the pond and the wetlands and cranberry bog beyond it is absolutely breathtaking. Since I drive to and from Boston a lot, I also like that it is only 1 hour and 15 minutes from downton Boston. Brewster is a lovely town where residents take great pride in their gardens. In the late spring and summer, there are my favorite purple hydrangeas everywhere and I have planted many in the garden. I love to garden and being on the Cape, I get the chance to plant a vegetable garden most years and to cut fresh flowers from the bountiful garden in front and back of the house. Of course, beaches are everywhere and within minutes you can be at any of the favorite local beauties. The location of the house makes you feel like you are 'away from it all' while also having the convenience of Starbucks near by if you really get a fit or making a trip to the local Marshall's, which has a great selection and good deals, or even picking up some specialty foods at the local 'fancy-foods' boutique grocery store or just getting the basis at the local Stop-N-Shop. It has it all.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
First and foremost, I love just relaxing, looking out onto the pond. But I also love taking a walk around the cranberry pond, jumping into the pond for a swim across to the pond and taking bikerides along the nearby Cape Cod Biketrail. I might drop in for a great Bikram yoga class at the local yoga studio. Ending it all with a BBQ and looking into the sunset makes it perfect!
