Don't be fooled by inflated prices that claim 20% discounts or third day free with two day rental. Our bottom line prices are already much lower (in some cases 25% or more then the list price). Our home is huge, comfy and up to date. Our location is great and our prices up front are lower then the competition. We do not double our rates so that we can give 20% off or through in things that make us look good. We are already good. Our guest reviews reflect that. We do not pay our guests or hold them hostage in order to get a good review. The guests have liked our home and our price to voluntarily want to leave a comment. That should be enough in itself but I will give you the guided and detailed tour anyway.
Relax, enjoy wildlife and the sounds of the nearby ocean as you sit on rocking chairs enjoying views of lighthouses and sunsets. With over 1300 sq. ft. of porches, this newly decorated 2,000 sq. ft. home features island decor and family friendly accommodations. Three roomy bedrooms with 2.5 baths plus an outdoor shower and a fish cleaning station provides for everyone.
Only 1 minute from the beach, steps away from the Newly Renovated 4.5 Star 18 hole George Cobb designed golf course, about 900 feet from the newly decorated clubhouse. Located just a short walk or bike ride from the village makes it easy to get to your boat, rent a canoe, eat at the dockside restaurants or visit and walk up to the oldest lighthouse in N.C.(Old Baldy 1817). Two golf carts, grill, beach chairs, games and movies along with cable TV in every room.

Why the Owner Chose Bald Head Island
My wife and I grew up near the ocean and watched our favorite places get crowded as houses and resorts brought crowds of people and the problems that go with it. Bald Head Island is what most people dream about when they look at travel magazine. The island is uncrowded and has over 14 miles of beaches which 11 miles were given back to the state remaining forever natural. Over 12,000 acres of Marsh provide the utmost in observing nature. Being that the island extends out into the gulf-stream it attracts a variety of sea-life including Loggerhead Turtles, Whales, Tuna, Dophins and many more. The geographic location along the cental coastline of the U.S. between Florida and Maine provide a phenominal means of seeing birds from the North and South as they migrate through Bald Head. The 100+ year old towering Cedar and Oak forest abutts the 50 foot + sand dunes making this island unique and not found in many other places. There are also only a few places in the U.S. that restrict travel on a protected island to electric golf carts, bicycles or walking. This is what made my wife and I buy a piece of heaven.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love the peace and solitude and safety of this lovely place. We are nature lovers and can't resist bird watching, shelling, and turtle watching. I love canoeing, fishing and swimming which fit perfectly to the islands environment.
Park your Golf Cart and take the access to the beach. See the ships sail by as they head towards Wilmington or to far off destinations. This access is the closest to Maggie's and is only about 500 fee
Golf begin at the Club. Swimming, Childrens Playground, Tennis Courts, Crochet course and Restaurants/Bar.
This is where your vacation begins. Arrive by Ferry and the Tram will take you to Maggie's Place. This is also where you can rent bicycles, rent a boat, or have dinner at Eb and Flos or the River Pilo
Visit the museum on the first floor or climb to the top and see beautiful views.

I am 62 and my wife is 60 (and getting older as I type). We are almost at retirement age and would rather travel then spend time at our home near Cleveland, Ohio (especially in winter).I enjoy photography, scuba diving, fishing, treasure hunting, flying and nature. My wife also likes to travel, birding, snorkeling (she's to chicken to scuba dive), walking along the beach and a relaxing diner. We have both traveled around the world numerous times and love to meet people. We love the mountains and visiting our second home on Bald Head Island. We honestly do want people to come and visit so they may enjoy what we have.

Two couples spent four nights at the house over New Year's. We wanted quiet and cozy for a few days. We got that. We had options to eat in or eat out. We drove around the island several times on sunny days to observe all that was going on. House had ample kitchen. Sitting rooms were bright. A few aspects of the home were dated. Good experience for the Winter Price Special. Very responsive owner. Would recommend.

We spent my 52nd birthday and Thanksgiving with immediate family and had a splendid time. The house is comfortable, clean and well appointed. Assistance and directions from the owner were very helpful. We were well prepared and knew what to expect. The listing was very accurate, and the home was well represented in the pictures on the site. We used the Bald Island Club extensively over the few days. It is a well run and elegant facility. I would recommend this home (and the island) without reservation.

Out family decided on a last minute vacation to Bald Head Island. We had never been before and knew on one other person in our neighborhood who had been. We found Maggies Place on the internet and called Richard, the owner. We found him to be very accomodating and answered all of our questions as we were a little concerned about renting a place sight unseen. Not to worry. This may not be the newest property on the island, but its one of the best deals out there. The two golf carts were the best on the island and perfect when some of us had enough of the beach and wanted some AC. There are plenty of bicycles and crabbing and fishing equipment, beach umbrellas and boogie boards too. The gas grill is brand new. It has everything you think you would need for a week at the beach. We were having a great week until Irene paid a visit. The owners were in constant contact with us and told us what to expect with the evacuations and the ferry. The town posted a voluntary evacuation and we left two days early. Richard was absolutely great. Its very refreshing to do business with honest people who have common sense! We will definitely be back, but hopefully not to see Irene or any of her friends! Bottom Line: One of the best values on the Island owned by one of the most conscientious owners.

This is the third time we rented a house through VRBO and Richard was definitely the best owner we've worked with yet. He sent us lots of information to prepare us for our trip there and continued to send us information throughout the week. We had a wonderful time. Maggie's Place is a beautiful home with a great location as it was very near the ferry landing, the beach and golf course. The kids and adults all enjoyed riding bike around the island...on bikes that Richard provided as part of his home rental. In addition, there were 2 really nice golf carts, sufficient for all 10 of us. The wrap-around porch as well as the 2 balconies were very relaxing places to sit and read. From the porches were were able to watch a doe and 2 fawns almost daily. We had a great week and would highly recommend Maggie's Place if you are considering a visit to Bald Head. Richard is wonderful to work with and his home is a perfect setting. Thanks Richard for sharing your home with us for the week!!

Our family had a wonderful stay at Maggie's Place when we attended wedding festivities on the weekend of May at Bald Head. The house was in excellent condition and suited our needs perfectly. It was great to have 2 golf carts because when the guys played golf, the girls went to a bridal luncheon. Everything about our stay was just perfect!!! Thank you to the Walshes.

Maggies place was ideal for a family getaway. We had everything we needed for the grandkids, crib, bikes,beach supplies. Very comfortable beds and clean, spacious home. A lot of stair climbing which gave me a great workout. The golf carts were great as well. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

This was our first trip to Bald Head Island. Richard was great to work with! He is very through & he sent us a lot of information to prepare us for our trip there. We had a wonderful, memorable time. The home is lovely & I can't remember a more relaxing vacation. We sat on the porch watching the wildlife go by as well as viewing birds we'd never seen before. Richard has two new golf carts which we used to get around in going to the beach & touring other parts of the island. Such a fun mode of transportation! We highly recommend Maggie's Place is you are considering a visit to Bald Head. Richard is wonderful to work with & his home is a perfect setting. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

We stayed here in March, 2011 for 4 nights -- very convenient to everything. Well furnished. Owners are very accommodating and considerate in addressing every detail of your stay. Plus, the rental fees are quite reasonable compared to some others.
