Beautiful Cottage on Waterfront Property, Gabriola Island
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Gabriola Island
We built our cottage from douglas fir milled on the property, in a classic coachhouse style. We came here for many weekends while we were still working in Vancouver. We chose the location because of the beautiful waterfront, the ease of access, and the flora and fauna of the island. Gabriola is an island of the arts, with music and artisans' studios everywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The cottage is a quick drive, ride or walk to the Gabriola ferry. It sits on a waterfront property just behind the Pilot Bay Guest House and there is easy access to Pilot Bay down a few steps carved in the rocks. At low tide we can walk forever. We are visited by eagles, herons, hawks, seagulls, robins, various woodpeckers, hummingbirds, the list could go on forever. Seals and otters are in the bay, and ocassionally whales pass by.

We are two retired lawyers chasing our dream of retiring to a bed and breakfast (Pilot Bay Guesthouse) and a cottage on one of the most beautiful locations on earth.

Dear Suzanne and Dick: What a magical month I have experienced on this beautiful island. Thank you for helping me to make my "experimental" retirement a positive experience. Your wonderful cottage has been the perfect place to relax after my days of exploring and adventuring. A beautiful island filled with warm and welcoming people. I hope one day to call it home.

What a fabulous place to come and spend a few days of R & R! Your cottage was just perfect for us. We enjoyed reading by the little read stove, had a BBQ one night, walked a bit of the beach, saw some local art, had a great dinner at the A Frame-highly recommended! Great to meet both of you! Hope to be back again!
