RENOVATION - We are celebrating the newely released (April 2008) RIZZOLI coffee table book "Casa San Miguel, Inspired Design and Decoration" by Annie Kelly. The two most authentic, spectacular colonial homes, Casa Zazula and Rancho de la Capilla, showcased in this book are directly mirrored in the exquisite design and restoration of our colonial home, Casa Lucia. Compare Casa Lucia to those colonial properties and you will notice many striking similarities in handcrafted design details, centuries-old style and original authentic effects.
ARCHITECTURE - Casa Lucia, where, inside of four protecting Stone walls, you will find hidden a world unto itself, an elegantly refined colonial, an architectural gem with charming indoor spaces and gracious outdoor living areas. When you open the door to Casa Lucia and step into the welcoming entry portico, you will be looking down a stone walk way, lined with plants that leads to a central courtyard filled with greenery, outdoor seating and a lovely fountain. Four large sets of glass French doors to your right usher you in to the living room, dining room, and kitchen respectively. These doors flood the interior of the house with light illuminating the smallest details of the meticulously restored rooms including stone fireplaces, custom furniture, old persian rugs, thick walls and hand finished aged mesquite beams throughout. Throw open all the sets of French doors for a true indoor/outdoor feel or, in chilly weather pull the doors closed behind you and light up the gas fireplaces for a more intimate feel. All these elements come together to compliment the exquisite beauty of Casa Lucia, and guests are delighted by the pleasing and relaxing atmosphere and convenient center location that this outstanding property offers.

DINING ROOM and LIVING ROOM - Two striking rooms with open floor plans and large archways deliver the vision of elegant, classic and timeless colonial style. The two rooms center on comfortable hand-made dining and living room furniture and feature stone fireplaces, unique chandeliers, vintage persian rugs, exposed mesquite beams, thick walls and several glass french doors.
OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM - Take advantage of the gracious Outdoor Sala with hand-carved furniture, clay tile roof, stone walls, authentic old columns, exposed mesquite beams.
BEDROOMS - Two bedroom suites are located up a comfortable, graceful stone stairway rising from the courtyard. Separate entrances to the bedrooms increase privacy and give the rooms a feel of intimacy. Bedroom suites feature custom designed queen size iron beds, fine linens, new pillow-top mattresses, ample closet space, cozy chairs, safe boxes, working fireplaces, exposed aged beams, and mesquite french doors with screen louvers that can be opened or closed to the terrace as you desire. The master bedroom is graced with its own sun-filled terrace and bamboo shade roof with comfortable chaise and seating.
BATHROOMS - Each bedroom affords the luxury of its own private bathroom with charming mesquite window. These bathrooms are completely restored by local craftsmen, the traditional 'polished cement' as the finish of choice for the hand shaped sinks, counters, walls, and soaking tubs with showers... Also, for convenience on the ground floor, under the magnificent stone steps, there is a unique, beautiful hand-built 'guest' bathroom that luxuriates in polished cement detail and crystal sconces.
CASITA - Charming one floor Casita echoes the Main House in colonial design, style and decor. Family Room features 14' ceiling with old stone fireplace, queen sleeper sofa (sleeps 2), comfy chairs, large coffee table, TV, separate stunning little kitchen, and full bathroom with W/D. Casita can be used for entertaining or as office, studio, or guest quarters.
NOTE: The Casita in combination with Main House, makes possible an 'ALL on ONE FLOOR LIVING' with master sleeping quarters on 1st level, if preferred!*

Short, easy stroll to main town square and located in the Centro area, the most convenient walking quadrant of the city, Casa Lucia is only steps to the “Ancha de San Antonio”, the main 'artery' of San Miguel. Experience the flavor of colorful, friendly neighborhood living; or walk to the "Ancha", and immerse yourself into the sprinkling of artisan shops, antique vendors, cantinas, bakeries/cafes, groceries, pharmacies, internet cafes, taxis 24/7, all within steps of Casa Lucia... The famous Instituto Allende is located just minutes away, as is the beautiful Parque Juarez (the best park in San Miguel). Traditional Clay Tennis Courts, open to the public for a fee, are close by.
SERVICES - Casa Lucia offers twice weekly Maid and Gardener services. Our excellent property manager will be happy to help arrange airport transportation. She will greet you on your arrival and is available to solve any problems during your stay at Casa Lucia.
