CASA LUCIA - A Simple Colonial Beauty.

As you enter through the heavy antique wood doors of Casa Lucia you immediately feel the wonder and magic that this family home and very charming casita have to offer. You will find yourself immersed in the ambiance of colonial times but with all the modern conveniences of home.

HISTORY - We are celebrating the newly released RIZZOLI coffee table book 'Casa San Miguel, Inspired Design and Decoration' by Annie Kelly. Several spectacular Colonial homes showcased in this book are directly mirrored in the architectural detailing and design of our own renovated Colonial home, Casa Lucia. In collaboration with a group of master craftsmen and artisans, this beautiful property was lovingly restored offering a wonderful blend of old world character and ambiance of colonial times, with modern day luxury and all the comforts of home.

ARCHITECTURE - Casa Lucia, where inside of sheltering stone walls you will find hidden a world of private beauty and relaxed seclusion; an elegantly refined Colonial, an architectural gem with charming indoor spaces and gracious outdoor living areas. From the moment you pass through the wooden antique doors into the entry hall, you realize you have entered a uniquely special sanctuary. You find yourself looking through a large stone archway, down a paved walkway lined with luscious plants and vine covered walls. Four large sets of glass French doors to your right usher you in to the living room, dining room, and kitchen respectively. These doors flood the interior of the main house with light, enhancing the smallest details of the meticulously restored rooms including massive stone fireplaces, hacienda furniture adorned with brightly colored pillows brought in from San Cristóbal de las Casas, antique Persian rugs, thick walls, high ceilings with beautiful old mesquite beams and chandeliers throughout. Throw open all the glass doors creating a flow of indoor-outdoor living, or in chilly weather pull the doors closed behind you and light up the fireplaces for a more intimate feel. The paved walkway leads to the center courtyard filled with colorful flowers and plants, outdoor seating, a bubbling old stone fountain, the outdoor sala and charming Casita. Both the Main House and the Casita open onto the center courtyard. All these elements come together to compliment the exquisite beauty of Casa Lucia. Our Guests are delighted by the pleasing and relaxing atmosphere and the perfect, very convenient center location that this outstanding property offers.

WI_FI - Casa Lucia offers modern convenience with high-speed Internet/Wi-Fi, VCR/DVD, Basic Cable, Vonage free US/Canada calls, Safe Boxes for your valuables. You are also able to catch your Netflix movies with your computer.

KITCHEN - Gourmet kitchen boasts a 6 burner professional chef stove with a huge campana (hood) that reaches to the ceiling. New stainless steel appliances. Lovely green cemento pulido (smooth, hand tinted finished cement) counters throughout with deep double sinks. Large center island is great for preparing meals, informal eating, gatherings and entertaining. The island has stools for people who like to watch the cook. Kitchen is spacious and open to the dining room and courtyard. Truly an inspirational room for many wonderful meals.

DINING ROOM and LIVING ROOM - These striking rooms with open floor plans and large archways deliver the vision of elegant, classic and timeless Colonial style. The two rooms center on comfortable hacienda furniture and both rooms feature large stone fireplaces, unique chandeliers, antique Persian rugs, high 12' ceilings with mesquite beams, thick walls and several glass french doors.

OUTDOOR LIVING ROOM - Since San Miguel's weather is nearly perfect year round, you will spend most of your time here, in the beautifully hand-crafted, covered Outdoor Sala; You will enjoy hacienda furniture decorated with brightly colored pillows, beautiful old columns holding up the red clay tile roof, stone walls, exposed wooden beams.

BEDROOMS - Two bedroom suites (sleep 4) are located up a comfortable, graceful stone stairway rising from the courtyard. Separate outdoor entrances to the bedrooms increase privacy and give the rooms a feel of intimacy. Bedroom suites with hand-wrought decorative queen size iron beds, fine linens, new pillow-top mattresses, ample closet space, cozy chairs, private safe boxes, gas stone fireplaces, exposed wooden beams, old mesquite french doors and screen louvers that can be opened or closed to the terrace as you desire. The master bedroom is graced with its own sun-filled terrace and bamboo shade roof with comfortable chaise and chairs.

BATHROOMS - Each bedroom affords the luxury of its own private en suite bathroom. Bathrooms are completely restored by local artisans, the traditional cemento pulido as the finish of choice for the hand-shaped sinks, counters and walls. An archway separates the cemento pulido soaking tub and shower area for more privacy. Also on the ground floor, under the magnificent stone steps there exists another unique, beautiful hand-shaped 'guest' bathroom that glows in burnt-orange cemento pulido detail, charming Moroccan hand-shaped sink, crystal sconces.

CASITA - Made available to our Guests for their pleasure to enjoy. Access to this 2nd house secures complete Privacy within the property walls. Casita echoes the Main House in exquisite Colonial design and style. Family Room features 14' ceilings with huge mesquite beams, massive old stone fireplace, dusty pink cemento pulido floors. The Casita glass doors open to the Outdoor Sala and Courtyard. Inclusion of Casita dramatically extends the living area footprint. Casita can be used as art studio (professional Dulce Easel available for painters). Can be used for entertaining, watching TV, reading and relaxation. There is a queen size sofa (for overnight guests, with 4' memory foam mattress topper, average comfort) comfy chairs, very beautiful old mesquite work table, and large coffee table, TV/DVD. Full cemento pulido tinted Kitchen mirroring the Master House kitchen in design but smaller. Full Bathroom with deep soaking tub and shower. The sink is unique, made of an old round stone trough. Washer/Dryer.

ROOFTOP PATIO - Charming rooftop patio is a flower-filled garden with over sized chaise lounges, table & chairs, and lovely panoramic views...

WATER - Casa Lucia has a full house Water Purification System, Pressurized Water System, On-Demand Water Heating.

LOCATION - Casa Lucia is situated in a great Centro location from which you can walk to everything and explore all of San Miguel. You experience the flavor of living in a colorful, friendly, authentic Mexican neighborhood; or walk one block to the bustling street named Ancha de San Antonio, a main artery of San Miguel and slip right into the excitement of San Miguel! If you make a left on Ancha you walk past shopping and galleries and restaurants, cafes and markets. You end up in our main town square called the Jardin, about a 15 minute easy walk. Or you can explore all the little winding cobblestone streets and alley ways off of Ancha to get to the Jardin. When you are there, check out the Parroquia, our most famous church and landmark located on the square. You can sit on the park benches for hours and observe, or read the local paper, enjoy our street food carts on the plaza, chat with people, find out all the local goings on... from there you can also wander further and explore for days. Casa Lucia is also only one block from the famous Instituto Allende where you can take art, spanish, jewelry, etc. classes; you can shop the fabulous outdoor organic market that offers so many different local herbs, fruits, and veggies. The house is so close that you can easily zip back home to deposit what you bought and go out again. Oh, and at the Instituto you can also enjoy freshly baked goods and local fare for lunch. Now if you leave the house and make a right on Ancha, you also discover blocks of cafes, markets, antiques, produce vendors, bakeries with fresh goods every morning, different restaurants and street food... Very close too is the most famous, beautiful PARQUE JUAREZ (the largest and most beautiful park in San Miguel), just minutes away. Also a couple of blocks away from Casa Lucia is the new famous Rosewood Grand Hotel. Check out it's fabulous bar with extraordinary vistas of San Miguel especially at sunset. Also CLAY TENNIS COURTS are available at the Weber Hacienda down the block From Casa Lucia. Taxis on Ancha run 24/7. This is something that you may not think is a big thing at the moment, but you will appreciate the ease of catching a taxi at moment's notice when you are heading out for the evening, or in a hurry to get somewhere! The taxis only costs $2 for trips around town. Have fun!!

This was our second time visiting Casa Lucia, and it was as enchanting as we remembered. The decor of this home is an exceptional example of the iconic San Miguel de Allende style. It is tastefully decorated and honors the history of the city's architecture. The courtyard and roof garden are beautifully landscaped and furnished, and we spent the bulk of our time outside. The amenities if this house: purified and pressurized water, WiFi, Vonage and local phone lines, en suite bathrooms, washer and dryer, and ice maker with purified ice we're really utilized and appreciated. The house is located in a great neighborhood, and the location is an easy walk to the Jardin, and cabs are plentiful on the Ancho San Antonio, a block away. The house is impeccably maintained, and Marianela, the manager, makes sure that your every need is met. Whatever our question or concern, she immediately responded and always followed-up to make sure that everything was satisfactory. She met us when arrived and introduced the staff. She arranged ground transportation from the airport and arranged for a marvelous cook (Maru, what a gem! We were in gourmet heaven). We couldn't have been more satisfied.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Lucia for three weeks in April 2013. A rustic, hacienda-style casa nicely located—about a 15 minute walk to city center—with grocery stores, markets and good restaurants nearby. The main casa has a fully equipped kitchen and dining and sitting rooms with nice mexican-style but rather uncomfortable furniture. There’s a lovely patio area with lots of potted plants—great for breakfasts but rather uncomfortable for lounging. TVs with satellite cable in every room, free Wi-Fi (slow as all internet in Mexico) and a local and Vonage phone to US and Canada but no sound system to listen to radio or CD’s. The upstairs has two bedrooms—good beds and nicely appointed—with attached bathrooms (what, no bath soap?). There are balcony and rooftop patios—great for PM lounging. The real treat though is the casita—a self-contained residence in the back of the property. High ceilings, good comfortable furniture and a large TV (this one with a remote). Seat cushions and carpet could use a clean though. Full laundry in casita. We spent most of our time in the casita. Major drawback is the noise from the busy street outside and the large number of constantly barking dogs in the area. Some nights it was difficult to sleep. The property manager speaks good English, is pleasant and somewhat helpful. A cleaning lady and gardener come twice a week. All-in-all, an OK place in a pretty good location but not peaceful and rather worn around the edges leaving us feeling that it is a bit over-priced compared to other properties in SMA. We give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

This home exceeded our highest expectations. It's spacious, very well decorated, includes a fabulous garden and is just a short walk from Centro. If you have a car, there is lots of on-street parking. The owner and her local manager are wonderful. It's a perfect choice for a great San Miguel vacation.

This was an AMAZING house!! The house is better than the pictures (and that is hard to belive!!) Great location, close to everything. Clean, beautiful, I felt like I have lived there forever. The manager Claudia is amazing and so Maria the maid. I will comeback in a heartbeat, too bad I do not have much vacation time! We got the best workout walking everywhere and did not even feel it. There is a great bakery two blocks away and tons of shopping all around.

We enjoyed four weeks at Casa Lucia during July - August, and it was truly heavenly. A perfect location (a flat, 10 minute walk to El Jardin), and even more beautiful than the photographs (the decorations, linens, kitchen appointments and style are outstanding), we could not have been more pleased. The manager is great, and helped us to engage a talented cook for our stay. We highly recommend Casa Lucia.

We enjoyed our stay in the lovely Casa Lucia. The home is charming, warm and very comfortable. In particular, we found the kitchen and the bathrooms to be practical and well designed, just like the pictures showed. The outdoor spaces provide wonderful places for relaxation and socializing. Loved the colorful pillows! We have wonderful memories and would return in a heartbeat.

Casa Lucia was a wonderful getaway for our family. It is exquisitely furnished and very comfortable. Not a detail was missed - from the lush towels, great sheets, to the well-stocked kitchen. Our kids loved hanging out in the casita and we all enjoyed the beautiful outdoor spaces.

We recently returned from a one week visit to San Miguel that included the rental of two homes - one being Casa Lucia. I was immediately charmed by the character and essence of this home - walking through the gate brings you to a secret courtyard that sets the stage for the beuatifully restored property. The great news is that "what you see is what you get". The pictures are accurate in their portrayal of furnishings, finishes and amenities. The location is very convenient to the heart of town and to nearby businesses. I would return to Casa Lucia in a heartbeat!

I am happy to have the opportunity to provide some feedback on our stay at Casa Lucia. My husband and I spent a wonderful month (March) at Casa Lucia. The casa is a real beauty, even lovelier than the pictures on the web. It has all the old world charm we so enjoy and all of the modern conveniences North Americans are used to.It is very conveniently located to Centro (about a 15 minute walk - relatively flat) and close to the lovely Juarez park. This was our first time in San Miguel de Allende and my husband and I fell in love with the town, the local people, the great choice of restaurants, the weather, the flowers...Todo. The property manager was wonderful to deal with and the owner (although we did not meet) seemed very amenable to meeting our every need. We recommend Casa Lucia highly.
