NEW RENTAL! SPECTACULAR LAKE SUPERIOR LOCATION!!Located on the beautiful south shore of Lake Superior, our Getaway Cabin is the perfect retreat for couples, families, or a relaxing girls' weekend. With 150 feet of Lake Superior frontage and surrounded by birch and evergreens, the location has a private and peaceful feel. Newly renovated, the cabin has all the comforts of home: a well-appointed kitchen, cozy wood-burning stove, loft bedrooms with stunning views of the lake, and a spacious two-level deck. Nearby, the quaint and friendly village of Cornucopia awaits your visit. As the gateway to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Cornucopia and the surrounding area offers much to see and do. Explore the sandy beaches, search for agates, shells, and beach glass (two beautiful beaches are located within 2-3 miles of the cabin)... build a sand castle and take a swim in the pristine water. Check out the hiking and ATV trails, and watch amazing sunsets over the harbor. In town, stop for a cup of gourmet coffee at the Siskiwit Bay Coffee & Curiosities shop. For local fare and seafood specials, try the Village Inn restaurant for fine dining or Fish Lipps restaurant and sports bar for a more casual evening. From the cabin, you can see Meyer's Beach. Rent a kayak or bring your own and paddle out to the spectacular sea caves... amazing formations carved into the sandstone by the forces of Lake Superior. Travel to nearby Bayfield where you can charter a sailboat to tour the amazing Apostle Islands. Explore the shops and restaurants in Bayfield, or take a ferry across the lake to Madeline Island for more sightseeing and beautiful beaches. If you're up for more wildlife viewing, take your camera to the Chequamegon National Forest, host to many native species such as wolves, bear, great blue heron, and bald eagles. At the end of your busy (or not so busy) day, retreat to the cabin and sit back in one of the Adirondack chairs on the deck or around the firepit. Enjoy the view and the relaxing sounds of the waves upon the shore. Our family purchased this cabin in November of 2007 after many years of vacationing in the Apostle Islands area. We've spent the winter and spring renovating and making improvements to both the interior and exterior to make it a second home. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do. |
