Little Compton is Cape Cod 30 years ago. It is Thornton Wilder, Norman Rockwell and Currier & Ives all rolled into one. It's the kind of place where the heart of town is still the hub of town--where you go for groceries, good books, strong coffee and the latest local news. It's also pastoral meadows abutting pristine beache, and lobster pots adjacent to moored sailboats. Little Compton is actually three smaller communities: The Commons (in the center of town), Sakonnet Point (at the southern end of town, jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean) and Adamsville (on the eastern side, bordering Massachusetts).
This beautifully decorated, charming gray shingled beach house has an east view of the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear day you can see as far as Cuttyhunk Island from the second story windows. The ocean views are spectacular. Goosewing Beach, surrounded by Nature Conservancy lands, is connected to the Town Beach, just 1/4 mile away. Goosewing was recently named one of New England's Top Ten Beaches by USAirways Magazine. Ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket leave from New Bedford, Massachusetts, just 20 minutes away by car. New Bedford was the setting for Herman Melville's classic fish tale Moby Dick.
