HOW SWEET IT IS! Carriage House is a wonderful 2300sf home near downtown Prescott on a hillside half acre. The house has elegant yet casual decor with a gas log fireplace in living room and a gas flame stove in the family room. Watch your children around heat sources! There are original watercolors, oil paintings and other art and collectibles in each room that make this home extra special.
The living and dining rooms have beautiful eastern views of Mingus Mountain and even the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff through 9 foot wide sliding glass doors. There is a comfortable sofa and 2 armchairs in front of the slate and maple faced fireplace for conversation and relaxation. The dining table seats 6. A stereo is also in this area, and if you rememebr these, an 8 track payer with tapes! Michael is very proud of this. Step outside onto the balcony that extends full length across the front to enjoy those views with sunrise coffee, evening drinks or amazing stargazing. Ever seen the Milky Way? You can here!
A family room with walls of windows on 3 sides is off the kitchen and has a HDTV big screen and the gas flame stove. A sofa, 2 very comfy armchairs and an abundance of floor pillows should take care of everybody's seating needs. There is a modem for complimentary wireless internet access.
Each of the 3 bedrooms has been thoughtfully designed to be separate and private from the others. The bedrooms are very tastefully decorated and comfortable.
There are 2 masters upstairs, the first has a carved oak 4 poster king pillowtop mattress bed, full bath, TV and a private balcony. The colors are soft greens and lilac.
The 2nd master upstairs has a memory-foam topped Sterns and Foster king bed, comfortable Queen Anne chair, an armoire with a TV, direct access to a 3/4 bath, and a patio door that opens to another balcony sitting area. Colors in this room are soft green and rich, deep marroon. These 2 bedrooms are situated for privacy at either end of the living room.
The 3rd bedroom (downstairs) is done in a delightful 30's theme with a queen bed, antique mahogony dresser and many antique "silhouette" pictures from the 30-50s. We call it the "serenity room". The color scheme here is soft golds, blacks and bronze. There is an electric fireplace for ambience and a half bath in this bedroom.
Right down the hall, decorated with vintage western movie posters and autographed photos of 1950's and 60's TV western stars, is a cute and quaint western themed TV/reading room perfect for being alone to read, watch TV or just relax in quiet. The TV in here is another HD big screen and there also is a radio. 2 comfortable chairs with ottomans to relax in might catch you taking a nap.
The washer and dryer, iron and ironing board are down on this level, too. Starter laundry detergent is provided for our guests.
Our kitchen is a cook's delight with gorgeous brand new granite counters, custom maple cabinets, a 6 burner gas stove, JennAire fridge with ice maker, 2 microwaves, dishwasher, all pots and pans, 4 slice toaster, blender, even a waffle maker, and crockpot, good kitchen knives, loads of counter space. Starter dishwasher liquid and kitchen cleansers provided.
The main living level is upstairs from the garage level so there are stairs to climb inside and out. Children should be supervised because of the stairs. The lower (garage entry level) has the queen bedroom with the 1/2 bath, large laundry room and the TV room.
Central gas heat and air conditioning plus an evap cooler for the drier summer months will keep you comfortable all seasons. In spring and summer there is a lovely and cool wisteria draped gazebo on the back patio and a gas grill and table for up to 6. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers provided in each bathroom. Coffee, assortment of teas, and starter condiments are stocked. This is my first time using VRBO, and it was with extreme pleasure and satisfaction on the experience my wife and I had here at the carriage house. Ellen and Mike were prompt, kind, willing to work with your schedule, and extremely efficvient which led to a easy transition for a first time user of VRBO. There house shows nothing but detail, cleanliness, a very comfortable experience, and a great way to experience prescott. My wife and I want to personally thank the owners for their time and generosity for sharing their home with us. You will not be disappointed if you go with the carriage house.
Owner response:John and Branda are 2 of our most favorite guests ever! The house was in absolutely perfect condition on check out. We are grateful for their patronage and care.

This was our second visit to the Carriage House and it turned into a winter wonderland. Aside from not being able to get out of the subdivision (our Jeep is a rear-wheel drive and those hills are steep!), we hibernated for a day and a half of our 3-day stay and got some much needed R & R. The granite counter tops were a new addition and they were beautiful - the kitchen is a joy, well equipped and ready for gourmet meals. Corner gas fire stove keeps the family room toasty. Our dogs loved the snow and the completely fenced back yard is a big plus for worry-free outside time for the pups. Hosts Ellen and Michael are wonderful to work with. The house is well-maintained, pristine clean, and roomy enough for a couple or a family. So close to Phoenix, but with the higher elevation, it's like a different world. I highly recommend this property - you won't be sorry.
Owner response:Becky and Nick are wonderful guests. We hope they come back often!

spent 5 months here this summer and it was amazing.. the views.. the accomidations.. you have to see it to believe it... this mountain side home is set up perfect for everything you mite want. i travel alot and have stayed at other VRBO places.. but this is the one that really stands out. the owners are very particular.. so they will meet your every need. balconys.. decks.. patios.. it's all here. extra large lot with an orchard out back. i dare you to find a kitchen with more granite counter tops.. or more remote control fireplaces. the bedrooms are so large you dont really want to get out of bed/leave the room. all 3 have a special feel. there are gardens front / back / and on the side...lots of pine trees.. rose bushs. also.. wysteria all over the pergola next to the grill. bring your camera.

This was our second stay at Carriage House. We love it there. The facilities are great. Great stove and fridge. A beautiful addition since our last stay is the new granite counter top. The family room is cozy and nice ... with a nice big screen television and a warm gas fireplace for those cool winter evenings. Carriage House is centrally located, so everything is close. Shopping, downtown, Watson and Willow Lakes, Thumb Butte, etc. We love the Prescott Brewing Company, which is only about 4 miles away ( downtown ) .The master bedroom bed is very comfortable. Everything was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck and the back patio sipping a glass of wine. Michael and Ellen have been wonderful to work with. We would recommend Carriage House to all our friends and anybody who wants to rent a great place at a fair price.
Owner response:Doug and Carol are great guests. We love having our guests return time and again! Thanks for the compliments!!

We have been coming to Prescott, AZ. on a regular basis for 5 years, as to visit our son who went to college there. We found Carriage House through a friend who has used VRBO on a regular basis. The home was warm, clean and very nicely decorated! We wanted a place to come back to after graduation festivities and Carriage House was perfect! We loved having a Home away from Home! Our family of 6 was very comfortable and being able to cook and BBQ was a big hit! The price was less then we previously had paid for our usual need for 2 hotel rooms. It was very comforting and very quiet! Carriage House is very centrally located! I felt comfortable letting my children jog to the local gym. We walked as a family to some very nice restaurants etc. The owners, Ellen and Michael were very hospitable and available if we needed anything. We wished we had been able to use Carriage House more often and not just at our son's graduation! A great time was had by all! Thanks again for a Great Weekend!
Owner response:Alice and family were wonderful guests. Thanks for staying!

This was the first time we used the VRBO system to pick a location and rental home. We were more than satisfied - a wonderful experience! The house was very comfortable - easy to live in. We had plenty of room for guests when they came for the weekend. The guests had their own private bedroom and bath - what a treat for them! The owners were very responsive to our questions and have done a great job preparing the home for visitors. An added bonus was the basket of information on things to do in the area and restaurants with maps. There is so much to do in Prescott - we hope to come back again.
Owner response:Kerry and Jerry were great guests who took outstanding care of our home. They were thoughtful and considerate with our our things, and even removed their shoes while in the house to save our carpets! Wonderful!!

A big thanks to the owners for allowing this beautifully presented and comfortable property to be rented out. It was well furnished and all would easily cater for a larger family group than just the 3 of us, having 3 large bedrooms with bathrooms and plenty of living space to allow for individuals to relax or read whilst others enjoyed the outside space or just watch TV. The large fitted kitchen had all the pots, pans, crockery and glassware you could want for, and with the dishwasher meant very little washing up - a bonus for the man in the party!! The house is situated in a quiet neighbourhood with easy access to supermarkets, restaurants and lovely country parks, and only a couple of miles away from historic Prescott Town Square and Whisky Row. It also offers easy access to the freeway and highways to visit the Jerome and Sedona areas The property was spotlessly clean and very well furnished. Clear instructions were left for operation of the satellite televisions. The owners kept in touch all through the period from making the reservation, to the point of arrival and after leaving. We loved sitting on the front porch in the morning, eating breakfast and watching the birdlife. It was also a pleasure to come back to after day trips out. The nearby Oak Creek Inn is a great restaurant serving delicious food, but get there early as chef stops cooking after 8pm and they'll start turning off the lights when it's time for you to go!! But they do open from 11am, and the food is great. There is a long list of local eateries in the property with guest comments on, which we found a useful tool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property and would recommend it to others without any hesitation. Martin, Julie & Eliot
Owner response:Martin, Julie and Eliot were wonderful guests. It was a pleasure to host them at Carriege House. We are so glad they enjoyed staying as much as we enjoyed having them.

Byron and Sara stayed from June 1- September 1, 2010 Dear Ellen and Mike, We sure enjoyed your lovely home and comforts as well as your hospitality. The beds were more comfortable than what we have at home. We spent a lot of time out on the deck enjoying the view, especially the one off the master bedroom. We could even see some fireworks on the fourth of July. Sure beats the traffic jams. To bad I'm not into a lot of cooking and entertaining, since your kitchen is so well equipped for entertaining and a lovely dining area for guests. Your place is immaculate and I did not have to clean up other people's mess upon arrival like other rentals in the past. The weather in Prescott is great and the evening always cool down to a nice temperature to sleep with the windows open. Even though you do have air conditioning, we used the swamp cooler and it was fine for us. It was nice to have a Safeway close for shopping plus the Snap Fitness to exercise. I found it easier to exercise on the tread mill than climbing hills with my asthmatic condition. Say hi to Margaret and Rick for us. They are such a nice couple and we enjoyed chatting back and forth. Looks like next summer we may be going to Seattle or Oregon. Nothing carved in stone yet but you know me. I love being near the water. Thanks again for all your hospitality. Your home is lovely and convenient to downtown. I'll miss the food at Iron Springs Cafe and Murphy's. Take care and enjoy the rest of the year. Perhaps someday we will get back to Prescott and enjoy your place again. Best Regards, Byron and Sara

Hi Ellen, Thanks again for allowing us to rent your wonderful property. It is truly a great house. Location couldn’t be better (especially the short drive to La bruzza’s Italian restaurant!) We look forward to renting from you again. I have already passed along your 3 listing to a few friends.

We had the pleasure of spending two weeks in February at the Carriage House. As Prescott is one of our favorite places, we wanted a place to stay in that would be warm and comfortable and the Carriage House exceeded our expectaions. Its location was ideal and we took many day trips in Arizona and was able to return and fix a relaxing home cooked dinner. Our little dog thoroughly enjoyed the fenced yard. The open floor plan allowing us to enjoy the fireplace while in the kitchen was wonderful. We simply had a great time. Thank you Ellen and Mike
Owner response:Terry and Beth were terrific guests. We hope to hear from them again. Owner's note October 2010. Great news! Beth and Terry will be returning to Prescott and will once agian stay with us. This time at another of our houses, Granite Creek Cottage vrbo #193815. We are happy to welcome them back!
