Come to New Mexico and stay in this magnificent home in the heart of Taos. It's an easy walk to the shops of Bent Street, Taos Art gallery district, Taos Institute of Art, Kit Carson Park and many excellent restaurants. Skiing and ski lessons at the world famous Taos Ski Valley are a beautiful 35 minute drive away. Sledding, snow-shoeing, hiking and cross-country skiing will keep the non-skiing outdoor enthusiast busy.
The huge kitchen has plenty of room for family cooking, an adjacent dining area and a stone breakfast bar for casual eating. The dining room was made for entertaining, with a long, elegant, white maple table and six armchairs (with extra chairs, ten have been seated). Soft lighting and five huge windows looking out onto the private garden and bird-feeding area make this room a favorite for game playing and bird watching. Additional tables and chairs are available for larger groups. The main house includes a large gas grill on the patio for outdoor cooking.
Main House: (Bedrooms 1-5) Sleeps fourteen (14). The living room is equipped with stereo, DVD player, VCR and a large TV. It contains over 3700 square feet of barefoot-comfortable radiant heat. A complete laundry room is off of the kitchen. There is a total of six bedrooms and a loft with three twin beds.
The sixth bedroom is "The Getaway Suite" which is attached with an interior and exterior entrance. Sleeps two through six. The Getaway Suite is sunny and inviting with floors of Saltillo tile interspersed with stone, and a TV area with a stereo and a queen-sleeper/sofa. Its fully equipped kitchen with eating space, large bathroom with tub/shower and washer/dryer make this space ideal for a small family or two couples. The bedroom is huge and can be made up with a King bed or twins. Off of the bedroom is a patio with low adobe walls. Off-street parking for two cars is fifteen feet from the entrance to the suite.
Sleeps 20 in 16 beds. There will be 2 kitchens, two TV/lounge areas, 2 eating areas and 2 washer/dryers. This provides excellent separation for multi-generational family reunions.
SLEEPING INFORMATION
Main House - 6 sleeping rooms & 4 bathrooms
(1) The master bedroom suite sleeps 2 in 1 or 2 beds. It can be accessed through the main house or through its own private entrance. It has a wonderful feeling of separateness from the main living area. Resting and sleeping comfort is provided by a TempurPedic© mattress on a king-size bed, a TV/VCR and a stereo. The master bath, in addition to a jetted extra long tub, has a tiled shower.
(2) Small Sleeping Room sleeps 1 in 1 twin long bed and shares an entry/hallway with the Master Bedroom. It has a pocket door that provides privacy. The bed has a twin-long foam mattress. It can share either the master bath or the east bedroom's bathroom.
(3) The North Suite sleeps 4 in 3 beds. It has the option of its own private entrance. This suite has a queen-size bed and “banco” (a slightly narrow twin with foam mattress).
(4) The second room (pass through) of the North Suite has a twin bed. For privacy, bi-fold doors separate the 2 rooms which share a handicap accessible bathroom and shower.
(5) The Kate's room sleeps 2 in one queen bed and has a TV/VCR. Its bathroom, across the hall, has a tiled shower.
(6) The Garden Suite sleeps 2 in one king bed or 2 twins. Its location off of the kitchen gives it great separation from the other sleeping areas. It has a TV/VCR and a bathroom with shower. A sliding glass door opens onto the garden and gives this space an entrance of its own.
The main house loft overlooks the kitchen and sleeps 3 in 3 twin beds - great for kids, but plenty of space for three adults.
The Getaway Suite: 1 bedroom & 1 bathroom
(7) The Getaway Suite can sleep 6 in 5 beds*. The King bed can be made up as two twins and the couch pulls out to make a queen bed – we add a Swedish foam topper to make it as comfortable as a regular bed. A day bed/trundle allows for 2 more twins. The suite also has a living room with TV/VCR and stereo, a fully equipped kitchen, round table and chairs and a washer dryer.
Totals:
Main House: sleeps 14 in 12 beds / 4 bathrooms
Getaway suite: sleeps 6 in 5 beds / 1 bathrooms

Magnificent Home in Taos- Walk to Plaza & Easy Drive to Ski
Year Purchased: 1995
Why the Owner Chose Taos
We bought this property for its location within a quiet neighborhood in the Taos Historic Destrict. We lived here and loved the lifestyle of walking and being part of the Taos community. After an extensive remodel and kids leaving home we couldn't let go of a house that was way too big for us. We decided to do short term rentals and hold our own family reunions here.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walking and being part of a colorful area with lots of shops, and restaurants. Even 2 parks to keep pets and kids happy. Wireless internet access, full laundry and a house not only full of art but, remodeled by artists with lots of small creative touches. Hiking and skiing are easy to get to and we live in the neighborhood if you need help, it is nearby.
Owner's Map of Taos
Dinah is a much awarded artist that has filled the house with artwork. She also maintains a studio in town, shows at Act l Gallery and is happy to show her studio now that it is up and running.

We stayed in the gatherine place this fall for a birthday trip. We rented the guest and main house for the weekend. The house is amazing!! No pictures can do justice to the breathtaking Taos home. A 10 min walk to the plaza and anything else you'd need in Taos. There are more then enough rooms and beds and plenty of room. It's great for a nice dinner in with all the windows looking into the yard or a fun game night sitting around the fire! I missed the house from the moment we left, can't wait to go back next year!

The house is fully equipped with what is needed and is at a perfect location. I would recommend this vacation home to all my other friends visiting Taos town. The Gathering Place with the attached apartment was the perfect spot for our families to stay to celebrate our daughter's summer wedding in Taos. Everyone (16 people) had lots of space so if they wanted to rest during the day, go to bed early or sleep in, they could. The outdoor patio with two tables and garden, the huge kitchen and spacious living room were fabulous for all of us to be together. There were even two washers and dryers. The location is on a quiet street with a very short walk to the Plaza so those who wanted to stroll on their own to the shops could do so. The house was definitely more than we had hoped for. Seymour, the caretaker, was readily available and he even voluntarily completed a woodworking project with our nephew. The only problem with our stay was that the time went way too fast! We would love to come back in the winter and ski at the mountain.

We just got back home after staying at the Gathering Place in Taos over the weekend. It was everything it could possibly have been and way more than we were expecting it to be. The pictures just didn't do it justice. We had our cousins, who were staying at the Casitas, come over on Sunday to play games and hang out and have dinner. With 22 people to entertain we didn't feel the least bit crowded or uncomfortable. There was a place for everyone, even those who needed a nap or some quiet time during the fun. We wish we could pick up that house and take it with us to every city where we have a family reunion. The Gathering Place will never be forgotten and will forever be such a fond memory for us!!

We rented this property for a family reunion and it was absolutely perfect. We really were not sure we would all fit comforatably, however the set up was amazing. The spacious kitchen with open seating and the nice size porch in the back were perfect areas to sit and socialize for hours. We cooked most of our meals at the house and the kitchen is more than fully furnished with every dish, glass, pot, pan, utensil, spice, etc. you would ever need to feed a large family. Thank you again for your help and if our travels bring us back to Taos, we will give you a call.

We have stayed at The Gathering Place twice, and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay both times. Seymour and Dinah are such gracious hosts, and their place is like a home away from home, but better. Everything about the house makes for an inviting retreat - it is so comfortable, beautiful, and lets friends and family spend time together but have space for their own privacy if desired. As a place to get together with friends and family, to cook, relax, and just enjoy Taos and each other, the house cannot be beat. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the Plaza. We certainly hope that Seymour and Dinah continue to rent out their home, so we can enjoy it again and again!

I recently organized a group of 10 women to stay at The Gathering Place. The accomodations were perfect and just as described in the listing. The location was within walking distance from the square in Taos and surrounded by beautiful scenery. All of the women in my group were equally pleased with the location and their accomodations. The beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen area was fabulous as well as the porch area just outside the kitchen. The house was extremely clean, including bath and utility areas. Dinah and Seymore were very personable and helpful with questions and suggestions. I would definitely recommend The Gathering Place and I hope to stay there again especially since the place is pet friendly and we did have a pet staying with us.

This was the most wonderful home away from home! The owners were fantastic! We all had a wonderful time! There was nothing missing from the experience. Great house, lots to see, places to go! It was comfortable visiting. We had a group of 5 families and 16 people. There was room for all and space to spare!
