I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy your stay here in the area of central Athens known as Panormou-Ambelokipi. Although the Metro (subway) can get you to Syndagma Square in the Historical Center in less than 6 minutes (just 4 stops away) why not walk? ... Syndagma Square is only 1300 meters away (that's a little less than a mile .. actually it's 0.8 of a mile!)
As I mentioned, the Metro (subway... which is only a few blocks from the apartment - a 2 minute walk) will get you anywhere you need to go in ease... however, we know what it's like to be weary, tired and jet-lagged after a trip so we can always arrange, if you wish, to send over our friend Niko, the taxi driver, to pick you up from the Athens International Airport or the Port of Pireus and drive you straight to the apartment.
Now you are probably wondering... where and what exactly IS this Panormou area? The Panormou residential district in Ambelokipi actually holds the charm of a typical Athenian neighbourhood, where you can experience the real Athenian culture. In older times it used to have vine gardens, that's why the name Ambelokipi (ambeli in Greek means vine). On sight are traditional outdoor cafes and restaurants, night clubs and pubs, Greek style tavernas featuring delicious Greek cuisine and the famous Greek souvlaki, churches, bus stops, metro stations (airport line), the famous Athens Music Hall, the American Embassy, an open air street flea and fruit market (every Saturday morning)- and other stores and shops typical of the Athens center environment. Big and handy supermarkets are also nearby within walking distance, as well as traditional bakeries, butcher shops, pastry shops etc. Popular home delivery services are also available. The area is safe and quiet, a nice hideaway in the centre of Athens.
This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom brand new apartment is located on the second floor of a single family owned apartment building. This way.. you are assured that curious neighbours won't be asking you any strange questions and that your privacy is strictly ensured. Complete with WiFi, Washer, Dryer, sheets, towels and even fresh coffee, you are sure to feel more than at home in this spacious home, as well as relaxed! The Metro Station (a quick 2 minute walk away) is available to get you down town into the heart of the Historical Center within minutes... unless you choose to walk.
Your sleep won't be interrupted by the usual noise of Athens City as we are located on a small side street with very little traffic. This way you'll be refreshed while exploring Athens as well as the variety of restaurants, shops, and scenic venues Panormou Square offers.
Our apartment also features an alarm system, CCTV front door buzzer, central heating with autonomy, electric shutters, new furniture throughout, top security entrance door, brand new air-conditioners.

Along with your reservation with our apartment we offer FREE GREEK LESSONS from Eleni, a professor of the English Language at the University of Athens (as well as the owner of this apartment) !!! This way you'll learn the basics of this beautiful and ancient language and will coherently know how to ask for your glass of Ouzo at a tavern, for the bill at a restaurant and one of the most important questions... "Where's the bathroom?" ... you'll leave Greece almost a native! (The free Greek lessons which Eleni offers to her guests are arranged upon your arrival and subject to her availabilty)

The apartment is located in a 6 story, (privately owned) apartment building. Construction of the building was completed in January 2008. On each floor of this apartment building is only one apartment, therefore ensuring your complete privacy. There is a marble tiled elevator available for your use. The apartment features a security entrance door, brand new facilities, furniture, WiFi, Washer/dryer, security alarm system, electric shutters and top grade air conditioning to ensure you are cool during the hot summer Greek nights.
Self-catering: kitchen utensils, microwave oven,toaster,coffee maker crockery, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, linens and paper-ware are provided for your use.

As you read the description of this wonderful apartment in Athens, you can imagine that you are actually standing in the apartment and seeing everything that has been described in the VRBO ad for this lovely accommodation. Yes, the subway station is a 3-minute walk to the apartment. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Access to all the great sites and other neighborhoods is quick and easy. You will experience the real Athenian culture as you enjoy numerous cafes and restaurants. The Saturday street flea and fruit market is a wonderful experience and the selection of fruits and vegetables for those who use the well-equipped kitchen is amazing. The supermarket is across from the subway station where you will find traditional baked goods, butcher shop, cheese counters, etc. On the way to the subway you will find a good bakery, ice cream shop, sweet shop and numerous retail and specialty shops. The merchants are friendly and happy to greet you. Everything that Eleni, an amazingly gracious host describes, is at the apartment. The apartment is well appointed with comfortable and clean furniture, the bedrooms are spacious, having a washer/dryer available is a plus for any traveler, and you can access the front balcony from the dining or living room area. You are provided with comfortable sheets, towels, a coffee maker, toaster, and kitchen utensils/cookware to suit any cook! Eleni greeted us upon arrival and spent time explaining the apartment security system, identified excellent restaurants, the route to the subway, how to access wi-fi, operating the air conditioning system and an overall general conversation of the area. She was helpful and provides the traveller a safe, clean, and comfortable apartment. We felt at home during our stay and would highly recommend this apartment for your time in Athens! You won’t be disappointed. This is our 10th VRBO rental in the last 3 years, and we can say with all honesty that the photos and description provided for this unit are 100% accurate. It’s a great apartment, and we know you’ll enjoy staying there! My wife and children stayed here and they felt so at home. The place is so immaculate and clean...The owner Eleni , was so accomodating and very helpful... A taxi was also arranged by Eleni from the airport and back... All of our questions were answered and also Eleni gave us recommendations on where to eat, etc.... You defInately need to stay here.... We recently stayed in Eleni's apartment (2 adults and 5 children under 10 years old) and we have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. We stayed in Athens for 2 nights prior to flying to Crete for a 1 week stay. Eleni was extremely helpful throughout the process especially by providing maps and very good orientation to the area. The apartment overall was in excellent condition (the apartment and the building looked as if they were recently renovated). The apartment is 3-5 minutes from the metro station. Our trip from the airport to the apartment could not have been any easier on the metro thanks to Eleni's helpful maps and instructions. With such easy access to the metro, we were able to visit all the major Athens attractions in a matter of minutes. We also followed Eleni's advice and took a tour with our children on the "Happy Train" that departs from Syntagma Square. The kids loved it! I would not hesitate to strongly recommend this property to anyone looking for a central location in Athens. Immaculately clean apartment in very convenient location in central Athens. Owner was fantastic with us. Eleni came to the airport and picked us up when the taxis/metro were on strike!! That was beyond the call of duty and we were very appreciative. Apartment has everything you need with a full kitchen, WiFi and washing machine. Upon arrival she gave us a detailed description and location of local supermarkets, restaurants and metro location. She told us about Happy Train which was a wonderful introduction into all the sites and very inexpensive. She warned us about pickpockets and to be careful and we never had a problem. We would definitely stay at either of her apartments again as they are absolutely fantastic and a bargain for all the fine details she includes. We stayed at the apartment in July 2011. The descriptions in the listing and reviews aligned with our experience. Eleni was a gracious hostess and was always available for any questions. The apartment is clean and well-appointed. The air conditiong and wi-fi connection worked great. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. There is excellent, famed Athens shoe shopping two short blocks away and it is truly a five minute walk to the metro and a ten or fifteen minute subway ride to syntagma square or the acropolis. Subways came every 6 minutes during our stay so proximity to the metro was a great convenience. There is a supermarket right next to the subway. The market is open until 9 pm. So it is easy to pick up dinner or snacks on the way back to the apartment. We ate at Maltagliati and had a delicious Italian meal five minutes walk from our apartment. We had delicious Greek donuts at Doris. This apartment was essential to our lovely five night stay in Athens.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We have just come back from a 4 night stay in this lovely apartment. It's quite comfortable and very well equipped. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from Panormou metro station, in a lively area with shops, bakeries and supermarkets.The landlady was very kind explaining us everything and she also recommended some local restaurants with great food and very nice prices. We would surely stay there again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Seven of us traveled to Greece and made Athens, and this apartment, our home base for two weeks. With the help of the owner/hostess, Eleni, we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Eleni even stored our luggage for six days while we toured the islands. Eleni's English is beautiful, and she looked out for our needs--arranging taxis for us on days when the metro was shut down, helping us find the best route to take on some of our desired day trips, explaining why some of our plans needed adjusting to accommodate our wishes (why, for example, Nafplion and Sparta would be more than a one-night trip). At the end of each day, we looked forward to coming "home" to our Athens apartment. This apartment is better than it's description! We stayed here for ten days, and alll of the photos and information presented is accurate. The apartment is spotless and we lacked nothing. We used the kitchen for almost all of our meals, and between the close super market, local speciality markets, and the Saturday farmer's market, purchasing food was simple and fun. The washer/dryer is a bonus, and we were able to wash our laundry three times! The apartment became our "home away from home," and when we were climbing the beautiful marble staircase at the end of each long day, we would exclaim how good it felt to be "home again." Eleni and her husband are wonderful hosts. The communication before we arrived was excellent, and Eleni sent us maps in advance. The Metro is just a few blocks away and provided most of our transportation both from the airport and to anywhere we wanted to go in Athens. We used the Metro daily and it is inexpensive. We were early, but Eleni's husband (Annas) met us at the door and allowed us to check in. He gave us a local map, and explained everything in the apartment. Both Eleni and her husband were available if we had any questions or concerns. They also offered to arrange early morning transportation to the airport via taxi. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to family and friends. My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this great apartment the last leg of our Mediterranean trip this past April. The location was easily accessible from the Metro and airport and Eleni couldn't have been more accommodating. The apartment was spotless and had all the comforts of home. Eleni welcomed us upon our arrival, provided us with maps of the neighborhood and had some great restaurant recommendations. She arranged for our early morning cabs to the airport the day we left and was there to say farewell. I know the next time our travels take us to Athens we will be staying here again! The flat is in a superb building with a lift which was extremely helpful considering the quantity of luggage we had. We arrived later than we planned neverless Eleni waited for us and took the time to advice us and explain to us the area. She prepared a very useful map of the area to help us find the supermarket, the ATM machines ..etcThe flat is just superb, spacious and beautifully equipped. We actually felt as guests not clients. It's very conveniently situated from all the sights. We loved it. It's a heaven of tranquility. Eleni kindness and this beautiful flat made this holiday so enjoyable. About the owner: Eleni, Professor of the English Language. I was born and grew up in this very location.I have seen it change through the years from a local old Athenian neighbourhood with berry trees and vines in the house gardens to a big city's central area with high apartment buildings. But the aroma of the typical Athenian neighbourhood still lingers in the air and the weekly open air fruit market reminds me of this. I left for a few years to study English in the States (Maryland)but I felt so homesick that I came back. My family and I live in the same building, so I will be here to help you with anything you might need. I love reading, especially English and American fiction, writing, meeting and talking to people. Last but not least I love my dog, Rallou, and our walks on a nearby mountain.

My favourite "activity" aside the antiquities, is the Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Each weekend, along the square, the local produce people set up tables and offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. It really makes for a great photo opportunity as well as a chance to sample the famed rich flavors of Greek produce. Other sellers join the market selling a myriad of wares... everything from designer "knock-off" underwear to exotic gauze dresses and silver jewellery. It's really a neat experience… as well as a great fun.. especially if you like a bargain... and to bargain!
