A real Treasure

What a wonderful time we had at the Hikaru last week. Staying at the Hikaru made our one week vacation feel like two. The property was amazing. Quiet, private and lushly landscaped, we felt like movie stars in our own secluded oasis. We divided our days between the pool, private beach and lounging areas...such decisions! The staff were excellent. We were treated to some of the best Jamaican food we have ever eaten. We are counting the days until we book again. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Owner response: Miss Venesia, MIss Elesha and Mr. Patrick loved having you. We hope you'll come again soon, and that many others will heed your advice and come too.

Great vacation with small children

We had the perfect set up for a relaxing getaway with two small children. The staff are exceptional and we felt welcome. Miss Venesia, Miss Elesha and Mr. Patrick are part of what makes this vacation extra special. My children are still talking about the coconut that Mr. Patrick picked for them and subsequently cracked open for them to consume! The food was very good, the house clean and spacious. The pool and the ocean front are perfect for little ones. 80% of the time we had the ENTIRE beach to ourselves! Staying in the community and meeting the locals was enjoyable. There was a little convenience store just down the road and we felt very safe in the community. The owners were very accomodating and informative. There were brochures to contact the local tour company (which we did). I might suggest an updated travel guide on Jamaica if you plan on doing any self-directed sightseeing. No TV, no air conditioning (the breeze off the ocean made the villa quite comfortable). The internet and local telephone were down while we were there, as well as a couple of very short-lived power outages. None of these things affected us as we were mostly outside. If you need a booming nightlife, lots of people, and all your electronic gadgetry...this location may not be for you. If you want a quiet, laid-back destination where you will be well-cared for, Hikaru is ideal. We will be recommending this place to others.

Owner response:Thank you for your kind words; I'll be sure Miss Venesia, Miss Elesha and Mr. Patrick get on line to see them. Sorry about the line outages; wish we could do something to avoid them. I think you hit an unusual week. Do come again!

Coming here, we knew it would be short; we knew the last day would come quickly. Now it’s here, and we don’t want to leave. This is an absolute gem of a property. Miss Venesia, Miss Elesha, Mr. Patrick all worked to make our stay restful, delightful and warm – true Jamaican hospitality, true Treasure Beach kindness and caring. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We enjoyed the stay in the Villa very much, with the nice vieuw and lovely weather. It is a relaxing place with kind staff wo are treating you with a lot of warmth and care. The area is also relaxed and we didn't have problems with crime or people who are trying to sell you souvenirs. We had love cooked meals and realy enjoyed our stay. Greetings from Holland, Richard Drahn

Our vacation at Villa Hikaru exceeded all of my expectations. The South Coast is quiet and friendly. Here you are treated like you are one of the family. The villa was perfect. A beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. We seemed to spend most of our time there. Spacious enough so in a group of 6 like ours, there was always a place to find some privacy. Miss Vanesia is a fabulous cook. We looked forward to every meal!! The staff couldn't have been more kind. How lucky we were to find such a special place. Thank you Don Noel - and all your friends at Treasure Beach.

What a magical place! We spent a most magical week swimming, snorkeling, getting to know the lovely Jamaican community, enjoying the rich bird and reef life and the many many comforts of Haikaru!

Best family vacation ever

Guest: slater (Massachusetts)
Date of Stay: 03/13/09 Review Submitted: 03/22/09

We needed a vacation that would suit our entire family. We have older teens, a ten year old and ourselves the parents. Hikaru met all of our needs and surpassed our expectations! The house and property are clean, beautiful, and private. We swam right off our own beach, in the beautiful private pool right on the property, and prepared our 16 year old daughter for tennis tryouts on the private tennis court. The staff treated us with respect and kindness and lovely sit downs meals (I did not cook or wash a dish for a week). We took tours with the a lovely driver who was a wonderful guide went to dinner at a fabulous outdoor restaurant in the neighborhood and had time to really relax as a family. If you are looking for something off the beaten track and want to get to know some lovely local Jamaican people as well as relax then this is the vacation spot for you! We felt like we really left our world and entered another.

Discover Treasure Beach and Hikaru

Hikaru is a vacation destination for the inner adventurer in all of us waiting to escape. Even though the option to swim in the pool or the ocean or just lie in the sun is ever-present, discovering the local color is a defining part of the stay. A boat ride up the Black River to see crocodiles or to jump off a jungle rope swing hanging down 30 feet in the air into that same river, playing dominoes with the locals at the corner bar in town, listening to ragae at Jake's, a fine dinner of Miss Vannessa's lobster salad, lunch at the Pelican Bar (right out of "Survivor"), it's all there for the taking. So much to discover.

Heaven at Hikaru

Hikaru was amazing. The sunshine, beach and graciously warm company made it a paradise. I’ll never forget the friendly faces and the sound of the ocean as it put me to sleep and gently pulled me to wake every morning. This is a little piece of heaven that I will always cherish in my memories.

Owner response:Enjoy Rose's experience. Cognizant of rising air fares, we're holding 2008 rental rates into 2009

A Lovely Holiday at Hikaru

Guest: Eddah (Kingston, Jamaica)
Date of Stay: 06/15/07 Review Submitted: 06/20/08

My family, including 3 children, had a fantastic vacation at Hikaru. It was totally relaxing and we were so well looked after and pampered by the staff, not to mention the lovely meals that were prepared for us. We all enjoyed playing tennis and taking long walks on the beach. It was hard to get the children out of the swimming pool. The cosy house was well maintained and very clean. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. We definitely hope to visit again.

Owner response:Thanks; we think our Hikaru is indeed a wonderful place for children.

South Shore Paradise with the best staff

Having stayed at several Treasure Beach Villas or 20 + years we are always pleased when we return to find the area still peaceful and friendly. We love to stay at Hikaru for the views and location but most of all because of the staff. Anyone who has experience with renting staffed villas will know that above all else it is the staff that makes or breaks your vacation. Hikaru consistently exceeds our expectations whether it is Miss Vanesa's outstanding jerk chicken or Miss Roxanne taking care of the little ones while mom and dad relax with a good book.. The owner keeps the property up each year so that even with the recent hurricane activity we have never experienced any issues. HIkaru hints, the extensive what to do and see while in Treasure Beach, is a great tool for the first timer and returning guest alike. We are always sad to leave Hikaru but we know we will return and that helps soften the pain.

Owner response: Thanks, Gary. Come back soon to see our newest improvements!

Jamaican villa Hikaru at Treasure Beach

My family and friends have been vacationing in Jamaica for the past 12 years and we've been to Hikaru at least 5 or 6 times. It is true paradise! We have stayed at various places throughout Jamaica but always return to Hikaru. The people of treasure beach are so wonderful and the staff at Hikaru ensure you want for nothing. The staff take such great care of everyone! Oh yeah, the panaramic view of the ocean can't be matched! Treasure beach is a laid back fishing community but there is still so much to do. We always rent scooters for quick trips around town (thankfully there's little traffic). Local fishermen will take you out for some deep sea fishing. Some our favorite destinations are YS falls, Appleton Rum factory, and the Pelican Bar (built out on a sand bar) which is a quick boat ride away. If your looking for a truely relaxing vacation where your only decision for the day is "what form of nothing do I want to do today", Hikaru is your place.

Owner response: Kim is among many who've come once, and then keeping coming. Please join her!

A Week at Hikaru

Guest: Drake&Ann (Savannah, Georgia, USA)
Date of Stay: 02/24/07 Review Submitted: 07/25/08

My wife and I joined the owners and four others for a delightful week at Hikaru in February/March of 2007. The house and grounds were well kept, the food was delicious, and the opportunities for a wide variety of activities were excellent. We took short trips to visit the YS Falls, to take a boat ride on the Black River nearby, and to Lover's Leap Restaurant on cook's night off. We particularly enjoyed walking the beach, swimming in the pool, and relaxing conversations on the veranda after dinner. Staff consisted of a cook/manager, a cook's helper, and a general handyman.
