Towering Pines Lodge is a beautifully decorated, log construction lodge located smack dab in the middle of the beautiful Black Hills, on Deer Mountain just a few miles from Lead, South Dakota on a one-acre lot. It is just one hour west of Rapid City, 15 minutes from Historic Deadwood where casino gambling is available 24 hrs a day, 20 miles from Sturgis and 30 minutes to Spearfish via beautiful Spearfish Canyon.

Constructed in July 2001, this cabin has just about everything you can think of to make you feel right at home. Whether you are sitting in the hot tub on the front deck and star gazing or just taking in the beauty and wildlife from the second-floor rear balcony, you will be sure to enjoy the fresh mountain air and blue skies. Not the outdoor type? You can relax in front of the fireplace on a chilly night with that special someone.

On the main level is the heart of the cabin - the kitchen and great room. The kitchen is completely furnished with a work island that seats three and a dining room table that sits ten. The great room features a gas-log fireplace, a couch that converts to a queen-size bed, and three additional chairs. The main level also has two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, dresser, and chair/chairs; and a full bath with double sinks.

The upper level has the master suite and loft. The master has a king-size bed, love seat, dresser, and through the French doors - a private balcony. The loft has a queen size sofa sleeper, a loveseat, and a chair. Entry to the adjoining bath can be made from either the loft or bedroom and features a shower/jetted tub combination.

In the lower level, you will find a private apartment that has a bunk (double bed on bottom and single bed on top), efficiency kitchen, full bath, and the laundry facilities.

There will never be a dull moment because the list of things to do and see has something for everyone. Winter, spring, summer, or fall you'll be sure to enjoy your stay. Ski Deer Mountain or Terry Peak. Ride the groomed snowmobile trails nearby. Bike the Mickelson Trial. Visit Mount Rushmore National Monument. Drive through majestic Spearfish Canyon. Hunt deer and wild turkey. The beautiful Black Hills has it all!

4WD recommended in the winter.

We have made every attempt to furnish everything except your personal items. There are grocery stores in Lead and Deadwood for your convenience in purchasing food items.

We have recently finished updating/remodling much of our cabin. All carpeting is new as well as paint and most of the furniture.

Thanks for making our stay in SD so enjoyable! We had a awesome time at your cabin and will definately recommend it to all our family and friends! To quote my 6 year old son, "This is the cabin of my dreams!" We enjoyed all the amenities listed on your website and found everything to be very truthful, as some cabins in the past have been misleading, like saying "central air" and only having a window unit on one level. Thanks so much. This experience will resonnate with us for a long time. Please feel free to add us to a "Reference List" should you have or need one.

We had a lovely time at your home in the hills. It was a beautiful spot, and we appreciated how well everything was maintained. It was a bonus to have the home so well stocked. From the original booking to our departure, everything was smooth and just as you described. Thank you.

A perfect Thanksgiving stay

Guest: Husker visitors (Nebraska)
Date of Stay: 11/24/09 Review Submitted: 12/13/09

We stayed at Towering Pines over Thanksgiving, and used the home as 'Turkey Central' for nearby and extended family. The home was more than spacious and well-equipped to prepare and host a dinner for 16. The kitchen is so thoroughly supplied that we needed no additional cookware or settings for such a large gathering. The setting is ideal - ample parking, beautiful grounds, and we saw deer and wild turkeys within the first day. Within the home, our stay was quite comfortable for 6 adults and 3 childen. Each floor has its own suite-like bedrooms and full baths, so we never felt like we were crowded or lacking privacy. The large deck, hot tub, and beautiful fireplace add to the ambiance and enjoyment of the home. Often, a home used for a vacation rental will show signs of age and wear. Not the case here - the home is immaculate, fresh, and appealing. Appliances are quite new, furnishings are clean and comfy, and the little touches have all been thought of - for example, the waffle maker is a nice touch! All light switches are labeled, so you're not fumbling for a way to turn on the ceiling fan or accent lighting. The free wi-fi kept us connected to 'the real world', and the Wii player kept little ones occupied. Other thoughtful amenties are found throughout. If you're a vacation home renter, you know that the quality of ownership is as important as the home itself. We couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. For example, our oldest daughter forgot her cell phone at the home. The separation anxiety experienced by a young adult without her cell phone is something to behold, but that's another story... Anyway, we contacted the owners, and it was not a problem at all - the phone was in the mail and back to us in no time flat. We enjoy the variety and adventure of staying at various vacation homes, and so rarely are we repeat customers. However, Towering Pines is the exception. We'll be back, as the location, amenities, layout, and overall experience was just too good to not return. Plus, it's a good value, especially for those travelers who like to have a little extra room and privacy for extended family and teens. We wish you the best in your travels. Enjoy!

This was the perfect place for our whole family to gather for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. The cabin was very well kept and was like a home away from home with plenty of room and everything that you could think of available. We truly enjoyed the time at the cabin from breakfast out on the deck to enjoying the hot tub in the evenings! We would highly recommend it for any family wanting to spend time together and enjoy the magic of the Black Hills!

Enjoyed by Wisconsin & California families

We stayed here with 13 family members (72 year old - 20 month year old). It was very clean and well maintained. The six kids really enjoyed the WII game, hot tub and playing Hide-N-Seek throughout the cabin. There was so much space in the whole cabin that the 4 families had a "place of their own". We all enjoyed walking on the path next to the cabin and we saw several deer during our stay. We all definitely enjoyed our stay!

This beautiful cabin was where we spent our Christmas vacation 2007. Our family fell in love with the cabin and the area. After a long day snowmobiling we relaxed in the hot tub. It was our first time to sit in a hot tub while it was snowing. Awesome! We had a great time in a cabin that felt like home.

We stayed for a couple days in July 2007 while on a road trip. We found the accommodations to be excellent and very comfortable. Pride of ownership shows throughout the cabin and we will stay there again.

We had 9 people at the cabin for a week and enjoyed the clean and spacious living area. The air conditioning was a nice addition as we had a very hot week. We all agreed we would stay there again. Our group enjoyed the wildlife seen on a daily basis and the hot tub too!
