  We loved staying at Randy's condo. This is the second time for me and everything was perfect. Condo was clean and well supplied. Liked the idea of ground floor so we could walk onto the grassy area and to the pool just by opening our sliding glass door. Randy is always accommodating and the price is right. P. S. Just thought of this - wish there were twin beds instead of a double in one of the bedrooms.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway.

  Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your stay in our condo. I am sorry that you would have preferred twin beds in the second bedroom. We did use to have twins in there, but when we had to replace the beds, we responded to the many requests we had had previously that that second bedroom have another queen bed instead. This is a case that we cannot staisfy everyone. Again, I am glad you enjoyed your stay overall.

  Described well - no surprises. Clean, pretty spacious, good value for money. Windy - yes. Decent beach is a bit of a walk away. Dealings with the owner were well-handled. Some caution for those with younger children - there are a lot of retirees at the complex/pool area that appreciate quiet. We didn't have any conflict as such but we did have to keep our kids from being over-loud. would rent it again.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  My family absolutely love Randy and Maria's condo. We have rented it multiple times. Two of the things we love best about the unit is that it is on the ground floor and that it is on the water. It is nice to be able to walk out to the pool and barbeque area, to bring in grocery's after shopping. There is a nice grassy area out front which was perfect for my grandchildren children to play. It is well maintained, clean and has everything we needed in the condo, it feels very comfortable. We have stayed there with our friends, with our family. Last year there were 25 of us for a family wedding. We rented 8 units at Island Sands. Our condo was the home base. We cooked most of the meals in our unit and ate many there as well because it is a ground floor unit it seems larger because you have the area out front. We were able to have the wedding rehearsal right there on sight, along with the rehearsal dinner in the pool area. It was perfect. Maalaea is our favorite place to stay on the island. It is centrally located to everything, airport, Lahaina, Kihei. It has nice restaurants within walking distant from your high end dinning to your causal BBQ. The thing I have grown to love most about Maalaea is the 6 miles of private beach at the end of the road starting at Haycraft Park going to Sugar Beach. I love getting up and walking it every morning. It is peaceful, breathtaking, serene. It makes me sad every time I have to leave it. I have been fortunate enough to be able to visit Maui for over 30 years. I have stayed all around the island and Maalaea has everything I am looking for and I love staying in Randy and Maria's condo!

  This was our 4th trip to Maui. We have stayed at Kahana and Kaanapali previously. Kaanapali tends to be a very pricey area if you elect to stay in the Black Rock area. The accomodations at Randy and Maries' condo suited our needs just fine. My wife and I shared the condo with our son and daughter-in-law. We had a good time. The cost of this rental was a real bargain compared to other 2 bedroom waterfront condos on Maui. A few points of interest: It is very "breezy" in Maalaea. You can see the windmills on the mountain from the condo. These windmills apparently provide much of the electrical power for Maui. The wind was pretty much constant. This could be a negative or a positive for someone staying at the Island Sands Resort. The negative is that the wind can sometimes be annoying. The positive is that the breeze keeps things cooler. Lahaina (to the north) and Kihei (to the south) tend to be very dry, hot, and stifling at times. There is no decent beach in front of the Island Sands. It is a very rocky area. There is however a public park at the end of the street (about a 5 minute walk). The beach there is reasonably nice and extends for miles. It seems to be a favorite of the locals. We saw many surfers. We enjoyed boogie boarding there. We didn't see anyone snorkeling. Because of its central location, Maalaea is probably the best place for someone to stay who is interested in exploring and touring the island of Maui. It's 15 to 20 minutes from Kahului (depending on the traffic). Kahalui has Costco, Kmart, Walmart, and Safeway. It is also the jumping off point for the "highway" to Hana. The scenic Iao Valley is only 20 minutes away. It only takes 20 to 25 minutes to get to Lahaina; 15 to 20 minutes to Kihei. We really enjoyed having a ground level condo. Randy and Maria's condo has a nice ocean view and is just steps from the swimming pool and barbeque area. The pool and grounds are well-maintained and feature lovely gardens and a large fish pool. Randy was very prompt and easy to work with during our vacation preparations.

  The condo, the location and the weather were all great. The owners did a great, quick job of getting the place ready for us after some flooding and mud damage only days before we got there. We were close to everything. A little cramped for space in the kitchen area, but adequate for 2 couples, and would recommend the site. .

  Recommended for: Age 55+.
