This cozy cottage (A-2) is located one block from the water at Hawks Nest Beach, Old Lyme Connecticut. Hawks Nest is a safe family resort right on Long Island Sound and a rare find. Adults enjoy the sense of a friendly community but the privacy of their own cottage.
Just a short stroll away is the small convenience store with fresh coffee, donuts and ice cream. Also in the store are last minute groceries, clothing and gifts. The store serves as a meeting place for kids activities and is the stage for the young Friday Talent Shows.
On site weekly scheduled events such as sand castle contests, scavenger hunts, art projects & movies on the beach are a tradition with the Hawks Nest Beach staff.
Stroll down the beach, go swimming, crabbing, or view Osprey & Egrets in the neighboring marshes. In 2008 the tennis courts were rebuilt and have nice new painted surfaces for the energetic players.
For the curious and adventurous, there is much to explore in Old Lyme and surrounding communities. For those interested in the significant art history of this town, the Florence Griswold Museum has a world class collection of the early Impressionist painters and historic gardens to explore on the banks of the Lieutenant River. Just 30 minutes away, there is the Mystic Aquarium and Research Institute with interactive exhibits. Just down the road is the famous Mystic Seaport, a recreated 18th century village with historic tall ships and world class whaling museum. The Pequot Museum in nearby Mashantucket offers a step back in time to view a truly amazing exploration of early Native American life.
The cottage is available with weekly rentals only in the peak summer season. Some off season shorter stays may be arranged, based on availability.
