Whisper Pines Lodge is a fantastic property that has it all.
Fall asleep to the relaxing sounds of the stream in this stream side cabin. Awaken to the gentle breezes rustling through the trees as you get ready for a day of excellent trout fishing, horseback riding, golfing, hiking, whitewater rafting, cave exploration, downhill skiing, ASU football, or shopping and antiquing in Boone or Blowing Rock. This one of a kind property offers a large retreat cabin that is situated on five beautiful acres with a rushing stocked trout stream. The cabin is nestled between two mountain ridges and have Laurel Creek and Elk Creek merge together at the beginning of the property and flow throughout the entire five acres. The property is beautifully landscaped with rock outcroppings, rock gardens, majestic trees, and flowering plants. This cabin comfortably sleeps 10 and there are two additional cabins available on the property which can rented with the main cabin(please contact for pricing) to sleep a total of 16, or the additional cabins can be rented separately which makes this property ideal for anything from a romantic couples weekend to a family reunion, large family, or multi family vacation.
The main cabin, Whisper Pines Lodge, has two separate and complete living areas. The main floor has two bedrooms-one in loft area, one on main floor, large living area with cathedral ceilings, full kitchen, two baths, gas fireplace, and outside porches that wrap around the entire cabin and overlooks the mountains and trout stream. The lower level has two more bedrooms, another full kitchen, full bath, living area, and laundry facilities and offers full privacy. Both levels are fully furnished with all the comforts of home and are tastefully decorated with local antiques in an upscale country decor. This cabin sleeps ten and rents for $225 per night or $1495 per week.
New additions to this cabin also include a private, top of the line 6 person Jacuzzi hot tub that overlooks the stream, and a pool table for your nighttime entertainment.
Be sure to bring your fishing poles as you can walk out the back door and catch trout, small mouth bass, and sunfish for dinner or just for sport. Elk Creek is a state stocked trout stream, and it is rated as one of the cleanest in all of NC. Fishing is excellent right on the property with several very nice trout holes with both native and state stocked trout. Other amenities include gas grills at each cabin, fire pit for bonfires and marshmallow roasts, and plenty of rocking chairs, swings, and hammocks on the property for just plain relaxing.
This cabin retreat is also conveniently located to all the area activities and attractions. Enjoy horseback riding just minutes away at nationally known Leatherwood Stables which is adjacent to this property and offers trail riding from beginning to expert year around. There is excellent dining, shopping, and antiquing in Boone (20 minutes) or Blowing Rock (30 minutes).
If you are looking for a stream side cabin for your mountain retreat you will not find a better location anywhere. This property has it all to make your trip to the mountains memorable.

My wife and I and another couple stayed at this cabin 11/1/12 - 11/4/12. We have stayed at several in this area and I have to say that this home by far was the "Best". My wife and I slept on the main level master and our friends stayed in the lower level. We ate dinner nights upstairs then hung out downstairs shooting pool and hanging out in the hot tub. The area surrounding this home was beautiful.... the stream, mountainside, landscaping, etc...We made a phone call and firewood was delivered right to the wonderful fire pit overlooking the stream. They even brought kinlin for starting the fire!!! The inside of this home was fabulous, just like the pictures. Everything that was told to us as well as sent to us was exactly llike it was!! We have stayed at this owner's other location just up the road from this one and had the same experience there also......another wonderful place!! We will definitely be back, we are thinking of doing a big family get together and also using the two small cabins that are located right next to this " Mansion". I would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering a getaway to the mountains. Being just a quiet getaway for Two or bring the whole Family!!!! Ray & Donna ( Clayton NC )Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for sharing your experience. We pride ourself in making it a wonderful experience for all and appreciate all feedback so that we can continue to improve when necessary. We look forward to your return.

There were not two bedrooms on the main floor. One of the bedrooms was a loft above the main floor. This should be noted in the description as we were told by Jackie, there were two bedrooms on the main floor.Since heat rises, it is very difficult to control the temperature in the loft area. The bathroom shower in the basement was not clean! There was no hand towel rack near the lavatory. They had been ripped off and not replaced. There was no toilet paper holder and the towels were truly rags. The couch provided in the basement was horrible to sit on, much less use for sleeping. The bed in one of the basement bedrooms needs to be replaced. It slants to the center and is difficult to sleep on. The extra blankets are kept in moth ball closet and are not usable when taken out of the closet because of the smell. The kitchen is very poorly stocked. The frying pans are very dangerous to use because the teflon coating is scratched and coming off.The baking sheets are not in acceptable use. All of the cookware is in poor condition Although there are 2 kitchens, the basement kitchen had very few facilities. .If rented for a week at a time, toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water should be provided. The water was so bad, use of the hot tub was limited because of the bad water and smell. This is a beautiful property and house, but needs MAJOR deep cleaning. Propeertyis not sutiable for anyone who cannot climb stairs. There were 3 elderly adults in our group and that is why we needed the two bedrooms on the main level. This should be noted in the description of the house.I would not recommend this property to future renters.Owner response: We are sorry for the inconvience you experienced at our place. If you would have contacted us during your stay we would have fixed all the housekeeping issues for sure. We have changed the description to explain the the layout of the main level bedrooms. We encourage our Guests to let us know if things are not satisfactory during your stay by providing phone numbers for local contacts as well as us as Owners. Thank You

A group of friends and I rented out this cabin and had a great time. It is right on the stream, near a few hiking trails, and has a great front and back yard. The hot tub was perfect for the chilly weather (we went in February). The living and dining rooms have ample seating, and the pool table downstairs is in good condition. The upstairs bedroom doesn't quite show in the pictures that it is a loft, but it is still relatively private. The kitchens are equipped with utensils, pots, pans, and baking sheets, and the grill works great as well. This is the perfect spot for a long weekend getaway. Bring some dvd's though incase it's raining and the direct TV doesn't work!Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family Christmas gathering (7 adults & pets) at Whispering Pines was great. The home is beauitiful and comfortable. The jacuzzi, creek, hiking, and fire pit kept us all happy - snow would have been a bonus though! It was a short drive to Blowing Rock which is a quaint little town that we thoroughly enjoyed. The water is well water so there is an odor at times but we brought drinking water so it was not a big deal. The back deck is a great place to relax and drink your coffee each morning enjoying the creek and mountains.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The location of this house is perfect, the surroundings are beautiful but the house has a lot to be improved. The owners have a lot of rules and regulations for the renters but they are not keeping up their end of the bargain. The biggest issue was the kitchen. For starters the dishes were dirty, we figure out why- there was not a machine dishwasher detergent to be found. No single sharp knife, no decent frying pan, no martini glasses, broken icemaker etc. So, for a place where you have to leave tips to have the trash taken out and where you have to start the laundry before you leave and that charges that much per night this was not the best value for our money.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

A great, spacious cabin. It was great for the kids to have their own rooms. Everyone enjoyed the stream to the rear, catching crawfish and tubing in the deeper channels. If you're seeking peace and quiet, this is the cabin! 30 minutes to ANYWHERE and no traffic. Drawbacks: Only cell phone/internet signal is at the end of the drive, about 100 yards from the house. Furniture could use an upgrade in the Living Room and Kitchen, as some of the chairs are wobbly and you have to be careful not to break them. There was also a ground short in the hot tub which I think the electricians got fixed after having the local electrical company involved. However, it was the creek for the kids and the space that I wanted, and this house certainly fit that. Manager of the house is the previous owner and was Johnny on the Spot for any problems. Despite the drives to nearby destinations, everyone loved the cabin, even the dogs. Thanks for a great trip Bill.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
