Loved this House!

This home was truly incredible; beautifully re-done. It was like stepping back in time! My 17 year old walked in and said, "This house is really cool!!" And it was. The owners did a fantastic job bringing this home back to life. But they have really gone the extra mile, making sure that everything a visitor could need/want is there. You are walking distance from the water and close to all of Galveston's attractions. Every step of the process was easy and the owner does a fantastic job following up and making sure you have what you need. I would highly recommended this home!

Perfect Place!

This home was perfect for my family! I have always wanted to stay in a historical home in Galveston and this was a great experience. The house is filled with antiques yet still very kid friendly. I didn't feel like I constantly needed to guard my one year old. He played throughout the house with the older kids and had lots of fun. The bedrooms were big with comfy beds and lots of room for your bags and clothes. The kitchen has everything you need including condiments for meals and the table fit everyone. The porch was nice too because we sat out there and watched the older kids play at the park across the street. We cant wait until next year when we can come back.

Our family vacation

Guest: Edith T.

This home was the perfect home for our family vacation. The warmth and charm reminded me of visiting my grandparents home as a child. The location was perfect-my husband & I enjoyed driving around looking at the homes that have been renovated since hurricane Ike. We were close to the beach as well as to the Strand. Plans are already being made to return during the Christmas season and we are hoping to return to this same home.

GREAT!!!!

The house was fabulous!!! We really appreciated the "extras" such as the washer and dryer, detergent, boogie boards, beach chairs, exterier hose, etc. You don't find those things in a hotel room. There were 7 of us that went to Galveston and we would have had to get 2 hotel rooms. We all had plenty of space. The bath towels were big and fluffy. The house was spotless. If we vacation in Glaveston again, we will definitely book this house and recommend it to others.

True Feel of Galveston in it's Bones!!

My family of five stayed here, including our 4 year old. Our visit was Tues-Sat. Hot and humid on the island. This home was a dream for a vacation stay on the island. Centrally located in a historic neighborhood you just feel part of the island. We had spent our Monday night at the Galvez for the same price and although that was nice it cannot compare. The level of detail in the home to ensure comfort is perfect. After you get over the initial shock of how immaculate everything is and relax you feel like you are in your own home (except it is perfect). The home is tastefully decorated in simple Victorian w/ a nice mix of antiques and modern furniture. The linens on the comfortable beds (I am trying to find the set on the master bed for my master bedroom) to the ease of use in the well appropriated kitchen. We felt relaxed and really enjoyed using all the space. Not crammed in some hotel or theme B+B. There are books in the library area to bring the island history alive and a nice local resturant right across the street. The house and it is very breezy and cool. relaxing porch. The playscape across the street is as another reviewer said, the biggest ever. My child was in heaven. She also got to play with local kids and by the time we left she was saying "There are kids at my park, lets go see who came!". If you are coming to Galveston to get a feel for the place I advise you skip the condo's, hotels etcetera. This is the real deal. I used to live in the area and have been to the island a hundred times but have never really got it, I mean the amazing history and historic efforts to preserve homes such as this one. Dawn the owner is easy to work with and makes sure you are happy when you get there. Enjoy your stay!!

Look no further for a vacation home in the East End. The home was extremely clean and comfortable for our family. Communication with the owner was very prompt. The playground across the street was a big hit for my five year old daughter. Highly recommend Sonny's. We hope to return one day.

Our Galveston Experience

Date of Stay: 06/26/11 Review Submitted: 06/30/11

My wife, 2 teenage girls, and their 2 friends stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful house. The house was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. We've stayed at a few VRBOs and this was one of the most comfortable and clean. Perfect locaton to go to the Strand and the beaches. We will be back, what a wonderful way to back in time and still have the comforts of todays amenities. Loved your place Dawn and the time talking with you.

What a Great Find!

Guest: Chris M.
Date of Stay: 06/20/11 Review Submitted: 06/25/11

My wife and I strategically planned a getaway to Galveston after our daughter's wedding, and this home made it the perfectly relaxing experience we needed. We were able to do some fun things on the island like visting the Lone Star Flight Museum, riding the Port Bolivar ferry and going to the Rain Forest at Moody Gardens, along with a healthy balance of quiet time and sleeping late in a beautifully restored historic home. This is exactly what we needed. We also tried a couple of good local restaurants - Sonny's, which is directly across the street (with their Tex-Mex spaghetti, cold beer and good conversation), and M&M's (with their fresh gulf shrimp). Dawn is a great host, and called to make sure we had everything we needed after we arrived. Our experience made us feel like we have a new vacation home in Galveston, and we can't wait to go back.

This house was perfect for our family trip

Guest: Jnl5 (Frisco, Tx)
Date of Stay: 06/09/11 Review Submitted: 06/15/11

This home is just as it appears in the pictures. It is immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable with all the things your family would need for a beach vacation home base. It was really neat staying in a historical house with so much of the home being original. It is also such a great location--blocks away from the Seawall beaches, the Strand, gorgeous downtown historical homes, many restaurants, retail, etc. Easy access to the highway as well for destinations on the mainland. Beds were very comfortable. We loved our experience at this home and in Galveston and we plan on returning soon.
