A Great Vacation Spot

Date of Stay: 08/13/08 Review Submitted: 11/18/08

This was an amazing place to vacation from the view on the treehouse balcony looking at the twin Pitons to the valley just below it. There are hiking trails behind the treehouse as well as a great short hike to the Anse Chastanet Hotel and the beautiful blue water and sandy beach for some sun or just relax and listen to the waves of the ocean right beside the hotel. The water was so amazingly blue and calming. The food at the Anse Chastanet Hotel was wonderful and the service was great. The locals were all very kind and helpful everywere we went. The sightseeing trips were wonderful and informative from the Forest Tours to the trip to the Volcano. The mineral bath will make you feel ten years younger and make you not want to leave. Everywere you go you can stop and pick fresh fruits as well as a grocery store at the heart of the nearby town. The treehouse is just like a home away from home with all the necessary anamities right at your finger tips. The owner checked on us daily to make sure we were comforable and that we were enjoying our stay. You go to sleep with the sound of the crickets and wake up listening to the birds singing. I highly recommend this place for a first time vacation and for sure repeat visits.

Great Honeymoon Spot

Guest: Brian C.
Date of Stay: 12/12/11 Review Submitted: 02/02/12

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the treehouse and I have to say it exceeded all of our expectations. Beginning with the taxi ride from the airport, our stay in St Lucia was adventurous and exciting. There were so many things to do that we did not spend alot of time at the treehouse but felt very comfortable while there and the views were incredible. Our first night we were treated to a delicious local meal that really set the tone for our honeymoon. The beach is just down the hill and was a great place to sun and snorkel. We did watch the sunset several afternoons from the beach bar. The small pool was a welcome experience after walking back from the beach. The area around the treehouse is like a botanical garden and attracted alot of hummingbirds. We never really needed anything as the staff (Charmaine and Cynthia) took great care of us. We thought the treehouse and St Lucia was a great experience and the perfect place for our honeymoon. I hope we can someday return for our anniversary. Leslie and Brian Dec 2011

Unique vacation property in Soufriere

We loved staying at the Treehouse. Beautiful beach with awesome snorkeling just a 12 minute walk down the road. The walk back is all uphill but once we got to the Treehouse we took a dip in the private plunge pool and then we were ready to relax on the deck with a cold Piton. The view is spectacular!

Most romantic Caribbean vacation ever

Guest: Tom and Kathy (Marathon, Florida)
Date of Stay: 12/18/10 Review Submitted: 05/15/11

We are now sure the Tree House is absolutely the best way to see the real St. Lucia. If you’re looking for a chaise lounge on a beach with other tourists, drinks with umbrellas and a mint on your pillow, you should look elsewhere. To really get to know the island and the people who live there, check this place out. The southern part of the island has the drop-dead landscapes — and seascapes — and the view of the Pitons from the Tree House deck is spectacular. We really loved Soufriere. Be sure to have breakfast or lunch at Archie’s. It’s a locals place, the food is good and a fraction of the cost of upscale restaurants — that’s not to say you should try them, too. The Hummingbird Resort has good food and great view. Our favorite was Martha’s Tables, partway up the Petit Piton. The creole dishes are very good, but first try entrees with Martha’s own special sauce. There is much to see and do — the volcano, waterfalls, botanical garden and rain forest — but we were worn out playing tourist after about four days and just chilled out the rest of the week. Cynthia, the house manager, is terrific. She has encyclopedic knowledge of the island, and can steer you to whatever you’re looking for. Benton and his fearless band of taxi drivers (Eli and Lambert) are great guides, advisors and even provide an introductory lesson in the local patois. Capt. Daisey, aka Moby Dick, is an entertaining and accomplished water taxi guide. We took a day-long tour up the west coast of the island, which was pretty spectacular. The boat ride was great, but we’d recommend skipping Castries, the capital city. There were too many hustlers and hawkers preying on the cruise ship passengers. Lunch at the Dolittle Resort in Marigot Bay was great, though, as was Daisey’s banter. The pros: Wonderful people, great food, incredible scenery; the most romantic place we’ve ever been. The cons: Like most everywhere, there are some street hustlers. (Be firm: “No, mon. We’re good.”) Advice: Resist the temptation to take 200 photos of the Pitons. It’s harder than you think; they’re just so cool. If you are hikers, get those legs in shape before you come. The roads seem to average a 45-degree incline — great for going down, crazy cardio workout going up. Bottom line: The Tree House is mind-blowing if you love nature and want to experience the island culture.

A Great Time

We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. The staff was great--without exception. We appreciated the recommendations in the guestbook as it gave us peace of mind. We visited Gee's a couple of times--great food. We rode with Recardo and Moby Dick--both colorful characters and very pleasant. We hope to return to St Lucia someday and will keep the Treehouse in mind.

awesome find

Guest: Rebecca (Pennsylvania, USA)
Date of Stay: 08/09/10 Review Submitted: 09/03/10

My husband and I stayed at the Tree House for two weeks for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time and were so happy we found this place! We both love animals and nature, so it was a great place to see native birds and little critters. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware so we were able to cook for ourselves most days if we wanted to. Fortunately, we are both in fairly good physical shape, so we really got to see a great deal of Soufriere and the surrounding areas. I would not recommend the Tree House for people who do not like walking/hiking (or adventurous driving) or people with disabilities or people with small children. But if you like to hike/meander - the Tree House is a fantastic find. It is perfect for two people looking to escape the tourist traps that most Caribbean islands bring. If you are willing to sweat a little and walk a while, you can see Jalousie beach, Diamond Botanical Gardens, Fond Doux Estate and all of the village (we walked to all of these places during our stay.) Of these activities, we would recommend the botanical gardens and Jalousie beach - but the Fond Doux Estate was a little bit of a bust. The area of Soufriere is quite authentic and gave us a good feel for island life. There are plenty of restaurants in the town and surrounding areas (our favorites were Archie's in Soufriere and Martha's Tables on the way to Jalousie) if you don't want to cook for yourself - but between the little supermarket and the fresh fruit and fish markets, we were able to supplement our dining experiences. The Tree House itself was quaint, but plenty of room for two people (preferably a couple). It was clean and well-maintained, with all necessary amenities (like a coffee maker!). The owner was awesome and helped us out with scheduling changes and we were even fortunate enough to meet him for dinner! He's a fantastic (and very entertaining) guy! The only downside is that we visited during the rainy season and did not bring enough mosquito spray (some was provided by the Tree House though!). So if you are going during the summer months, bring bug spray. However, for how much money you save at the Tree House compared to any hotel on the island, you can buy gallons of bug spray and still make out on the deal. I would definitely recommend the Tree House to anyone who likes a more private, self-catering and adventurous vacation. We look forward to going back in the future

This truly was an amazing experience! From waking up to the gorgeous views in the morning to falling asleep with the sounds of nature at night. The treehouse is also equipped with everything you would need. The owner arranged our pickup from the airport and a driver for the week. Being within walking distance to beautiful Anse Chastenet beach was a treat. Great snorkeling and a nice beachfront bar/restaurant. The food in area restaurants is excellent - the people warm and friendly. We would highly recommend the Treehouse and are looking forward to our return.

In a word AMAZING! We had a wonderful time. The people were warm and friendly (we made some new friends) and enjoyed Shadows company. Our trip up the coast with Moby Dick was one of our highlights. Hopefully, we were gracious visitors as everyone made us feel very comfortable. I will highly recommend the treehouse to all of my friends. Hopefully, we will be able to return to the treehouse soon.

We stayed at the treehouse for two weeks in February 2010. The homes' unique design nestled in trees and flowers made us feel as if we were living outdoors. Cynthia and Alvin kept the house and pool spotless. It's an easy ten minute walk to the beach. The privacy, beauty, and comfort make the Treehouse a perfect choice for a couple getaway

We absolutely loved our experience staying at the Treehouse in St. Lucia. The locations is superb for walking to the most spectacular snorkeling beaches. Having your own kitchen is so convenient and the view from the dining table is perfect. One of our favorite features was the cool plunge pool. We would take a dip before a walk, after a walk, and before bedtime. This is truly a unique experience and we look forward to returning.
